I could just kick myself. I've had this CD for nearly seven months and I'm just now getting around to listening to it. I haven't been feeling Jill Scott since her debut CD so I wasn't really expecting much-but WOW was I wrong. From the moment I hit play, I was grooving. Welcome back, Jill. You put your foot into this. Now I'm trying to make up for lost time and this CD remains on REPEAT. If you haven't bought or listen to this, you're definitely missing out. GREAT MUSIC. BUY THIS!!!!

If you don't have this album yet, I really don't know what you are waiting for. You are truely missing out on a musical experience of a lifetime. I am one of those people who gets boared with cd's after I have heard them so many times, but this is a true classic. I did not take this cd out of my car's cd player for 3 months. I listened to it every day I got in the car. Thanks to Amazon, you can listen to the samples and those alone are only introductions to the truely magnificant music Jill has made on this album. She let her heart and soul go and it shows on every song. I love Jill and you will love this album!!!

As always Jill Scott has delivered a scrumptous, delightful and insightful look into her world. For me, she is the modern day Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughn, Minnie Riperton and so many other stallworths of the industry. We should remind ourselves as consumers, our relationships with artists evolve over time and in particular, my appreciation for her delivery has been more than satisfactory. I wish her and the entire Hidden Beach family much oontinued success in the future. Thanks for simply being Jill Scott.

An excellent experience 2008-05-15
What can be said about this release from Jill Scott??
soulful, musically inspring, sexy...yes and so many other words. From start to finish Words and Sounds Vol. 3 is another excellent look to her life and she writes/sings them with such skill that you know its coming from the heart. A couple songs that i love are "Hate on Me" and "Wanna Be Loved". Also of note with purchasing this cd on Itunes i got a Live version of "Hate On Me"..which i love as much as the original.
Excellent cd throughout and she continues to impress in all aspects. It is a worthy addition to your cd collection fan or not.

With a background in both poetry and musical theater, Scott came at the genre from a fresh perspective, and her 2000 debut album made her a household name.

The lyrics to Crown Royal, track number five on Ms. Scotts junior debute continues to suck you in as you grind to the beat of her drums. I love a CD that I can just slide in and let play, and Jill Scott delivers with this joint all the way up to the last song. Hate On Me is sure to be the anthom for all women as we sing the lyrics to Wanna Be Loved and so many others. If you are a true Jill Scott fan, you need this one in your collection ASAP!

jill scott is as honest as they come.
she uses each disc she has released as an opportunity to share some of what's on her mind. that she has managed to do so without resorting to an overuse of swear words is continued testament of her talent as a lyricist.
and each melody that finds its way to a lyric is seductively singable--but not so that someone has massacred them on 'american idol'. this is a GREAT thing--not just a good thing. but singers of all levels will jam right along with her. i do it. i know i'm not worthy as she is to be singing, but i feel like i am a part of a hip community that knows this woman and her delicious music and is not afraid to live it a little.

Jill Scott has a great voice and presence about her that just make you feel good... i have been a fan of hers since she was on soul train 10 years ago with the roots singing erykah badus chorus in "you got me".... she has came such a long way. this album is one of the best of the year...
hands down my favourite track is 'crown royal' i love the fact that this track is under 2 minutes.... its to the point and just has one of the best grooves i heard in a long time. thats my drink... LOL
'my love' is another favourite of mine... her second single off this album is amazing. lettin her lover kno that she is there for the long haul....
'come see me', 'how it make you feel', 'whenever you're around' 'family affair'(bonus track), and 'epiphany' are other tracks to look into...
the album in a whole is just stellar. she is one of a kind and she will be one of the greats like gladys knight, chaka khan, and aretha franklin really soon....

I recently saw her in concert and realized it has been a while since I bought one of her albums. Nothing compares to a live performance, but the CD comes damn close.
