Perfect for what I need!

I love the size. It fits nicely into a pocket. Battery life is excellent. The HOLD option is great.
I only use it for listening to music so I haven't explored any of the other features, yet.
The only problems I've run across so far are that you can't delete files directly from the player. You have to use a computer.
The headphones are pretty cheap.
Other than that, it's perfect for what I need. I would definitely recommend it.

I purchased this a few weeks ago after doing a lot of research and comparison with its competition on line. I narrowed my choice down to this and the Samsung T-10 (sorry, I have no time for ipods and their lack of FM radio, their itunes software, and they are overpriced). I ended up choosing the Sony due to its form factor, I preferred something that was a bit shorter and was willing to sacrifice thinness. This unit impressed me from the as soon as I opened the box. The form factor was perfect, and it is even thinner than what I was expecting. It sounds great, even through the supplied crappy earphones.
Pros:
1. The numerous ways to search for songs - you can do an Initial Search where you can search by artist, album or song's first letter. You can also do a regular search by all songs, album, genre, or folder.
2. The video display exceeds expectations. Very clear and crisp. Its easy to convert files to the players .mp4 format. Don't bother with sony's software conversion. I use Super, its free, easy to use and does an awesome job.
3. Having a dedicated volume control is a definite plus. (T-10 take note)
Cons:
1. No way to delete files using the player alone.
2. Fast forwarding through video takes time. It does so at a constant speed.
Good player

Easy to operate with one hand, great sound and long battery life. The interface is very easy to understand and move around in. The controls are well placed, intuitive and responsive. I mainly use this connected to the stereo in my car. Other players were too difficult to operate while driving, but this one is very easy.
Excellent sound 2008-05-29
I can't believe how great how great the sound reproduction sounds compared to an I-pod. No distortion and I hear instruments in the background that before were lost in "mush". Getting songs transfered from I-Tunes works great if you use the drag and drop method. Not so good using Windows Media Player or Sony media center software.
The only downsides I could find were that it doesn't play protected songs purchased from I-Tunes and the small display can be difficult for older people to read.

Es un reproductor excelente, el tamaño es perfecto para los bolsillos, tiene una opcion de bloqueo para que no se marquen las teclas mientras lo lleves en el bolsillo. La calidad de sonido de los audifonos es muy buena, ademas de contar con equalizadores y la opcion de personalizar tu sonido. Lo mejor de todo es la duración de la pila. Desde que lo compre no lo cargaba hasta que pasaron casi dos semanas para hacerle su primera carga. El precio es excelente. La interfaz grafica es perfecta muy agradable a la vista. En fin es un producto 100% recomendable. Si tienes la oportunidad de comprarlo, do dudes en hacerlo. Recomendable...!!!!
Nice little MP3 player. 2008-07-17
Likes: Sound quality, ease of use, size, battery life.
Dislikes: Can't find a good case that protects the screen. Limited playback order, if you select "play all" it only gives you the option of playing songs in order of song title. My old MP3 player would allow you to select it by artist, album, song, genre, etc.

When it comes to reviewing items, I can be very critical. I can criticise this product also. The software that comes with it is slow. Sometimes you cannot copy disks to the walkman, but even with all these little annoyances, this is a great product. The sound, with just my 15 dollar pair of sony headphones, is superb. There are many choices for how you want to customize the sound making this a versatile product. I got this at a rather good price, so that also adds to happiness with this product. Had I paid 120 dollars, I might not have been so excited, though I still would have rated this product highly. I find SONY products to be superior and I have many. This is just another in a long line of good products.
Great Player - needs windows mp11 2008-06-21
Well just be sure you want to upgrade to media player 11. If you don't you'll have problems syncing video to your player.
Other than that it has a beautiful screen and is well built. Has a lot of small buttons which can get confusing.
I like it. As it's going on clearance on some sites, the price is going down. Get one before they're gone.
