I already know it's awesome 2008-09-30
This is actually the second S730 I'm purchasing, the first I brought about three years ago and it's been the best camera I could have ever asked for, there aren't a million useless settings meant for professionals but there aren't a million equally as useless pre-settings; it's a perfect camera for someone who wants the convenience of a point and shoot but also knows more than your average joe when it comes to taking pictures. The only draw back is the fact that if your LCD screen is somehow damaged you're going to either need to send it back to be replaced or simply purchase a new one if you want a fully functioning camera which is what I ended up doing. I mean, my first camera still works and takes pictures and all, but I really have no idea what I'm doing unless I use the manual since I can't see anything on the LCD and even then I don't know if the framing of the picture is right until I get it hooked up to my computer. But all in all, for the price, this camera is a steal.

Wonderful pictures. Wonderful Camera 2008-09-27
I originally bought a s630 in november '06, and hated it because of the battery life. And I returned it not long after, but last november, I bought an s730 on clearance. An impulse buy... But this time I bought rechargeable batteries. nihm? and the battery life was fabulous. I also changed the battery settings to nimh and I think that had something to do with it. I had two new alkaline, non rechargeables and used them. 10 pics. This camera took wonderful vibrant grain-less photos, and was very easy to use. Over one charge, I could take about 400 pics. And with a 4gb SDHC card, it held about 1100 pics at full resolution. And SDHC is SO much faster.

In my opinion it takes excellent photos, the quality of video is even good. As far as its ergonomics it is practices, I do not complain her.

Wonderful Photos 2008-09-03
I took wonderful photos on this little camera - people were repeatedly suprised to learn they weren't from a fancier camera. I was so sad when I lost it!!

(I did have some problems after about a year with it turning off unexpectedly, but thought it was just my own clumsiness! Maybe not...)

works great, no problems 2008-08-23
i dont know what people are complaining about battery issues. i guess it you set every option to its highest setting, you might not get great battery life, but its enough to get you thru 40 to 100 pictures. i generally use it for work and take pix on the lower setting and get at least 200-300 pix out of a set of batteries (rechargables).

Read all the feedback, followed advice and very happy! 2008-08-07
I read a lot of feedback about this camera and was nervous. I followed the advice of getting a big memory card and good rechargeable batteries and i have to say that I am very happy with this camera...so far. Good buy for the price indeed. Has a lot of very nice features. I would definitely recommend.

Slow to save photos; otherwise, GREAT! 2008-08-06
I was so sad when I dropped this in the sand and ruined it. I've had this camera for about 7 months, and despite the slow saving time, I really love it. I use rechargeable batteries, and they hold enough charge for almost 100 photos. The pictures have turned out really fantastic, both for portraits and landscape. I haven't tried any of the settings.

its stupid 2008-06-30
i got this camera for my birthday and i really liked it then it started freezing all the time and the lenze wouldnt go back in the camera. so then you have to take the battories out and then restart it. i would not recomend this camera to anyone. its stupid dont waste your money on it

Review: ... "Click! The No Nonsense Guide to Digital Cameras" is misnamed. It covers a lot more than just cameras. In a couple of hundred pages, it includes using a scanner and Adobe Photoshop Elements 2 to rescue faded, damaged family photos, the basic guidelines to good picture taking, how to use Elements 2 to improve your digital photos, and how to print and preserve your pictures for the ages. White, the author of the bestseller "How Computers Work," knows how to pack a lot of helpful, understandable information in a brief no nonsense book.

Review: "This Camera is one of the best in its price range. It takes beautiful clear pictures and can be used right out of the box, but its worth learning all its features. The included memory holds about 20-25 pictures so I upgraded to 128mb. I reccomend getting a 128mb card and the Sony camera case. Not only is this one of the best cameras in its class it includes decent software and rechargeable batteries that are at least a 20$ value.
HIGHLY reccomend over canon, kodak, and fuji. One more thing this camera has CARL Zeiss lens (if you dont know, great lens) all the competetors have generic lens."

From the Back Cover The megapixel hype
The fact is a camera’s megapixel rating is only a measure of how many pixels (photosensitive sites) an image sensor has…. An image sensor is simply one component of an entire system that produces a digital photograph… So resist buying into the megapixel hype when you’re choosing a digital camera. From Chapter 1
