Extremely fragile 2008-04-27
Although the volume is good and the quality of the sound is quite nice, these earphones will not last you long. I got them with my new classic Ipod and they only lasted 3 months. The cap fell off and the right bud was not making any sounds. There's many earphones much better out there.

Good clear sound, not noise cancelling 2008-04-17
I like these. I'm not a hardcore audiophile, and I haven't tried many comparable phones because I don't really want to pay over $30-- Considering what these are going for new in the Amazon Marketplace, they're great for that price (under $10 +s/h as I write).
I like that they aren't noise cancelling, which undermines the deep bass you might hope for, but allows you to still be aware of what's going on around you, which I prefer. The sound is really pretty clear and good. The little rubber sliding piece that holds the two separate wires together above the split is nice-- moves easily and stays put. This is a small feature, but it really helps to keep them securely in your ears (even though you may look kind of silly with the wires coming together just a couple of inches under your chin, looking less than super-cool being an obvious problem for many iPod rocking hipsters). I rarely have trouble with them falling out-- pretty much only running or doing hard physical work.
I agree with some other posters about durability: the grey rubber strip around the bud head came off in 6 months or so, and the hood on the plug end pulled loose where it overlaps the cable, exposing the inner wires, so I had to tape it, which is kind of lame. That said, I regularly loop the cable up and hook the ends together and stash the buds in my front jeans pocket, unprotected from inner-pocket rubbing, so I would expect some deterioration. Despite my regular beatings, however, the sound is still as good as it was when I got them, almost a year and a half ago. I'm about to buy another pair because they look so haggard, but I am buying another pair rather than getting something else.

Great Product 2008-04-09
The product arrived in excellent condition and on time. I received what was advertised which was great.

Upgrade your stocks buds! 2008-03-28
It's no secret that these stock iPod buds are lacking in sound quality. I personally advise all iPod owners to upgrade from these as soon as possible.
If you've already spent $300 on an mp3 player, upgrade your headphones and your mp3's will sound infinitely better. I'll give them credit for improving their stock buds though because their old ones were just absolutely terrible. These aren't great but, hey, at least they're more comfortable. Anyway, invest in a better set now. You can get better sound for cheaper than these, trust me.

A Disgrace To Headphones Everywhere!! 2008-03-27
I'am a big Apple fan. I love how innovative they are. But whoever designed these headphones should be ashamed. I really don't complain that much when they come with the iPods, because it's expected. But for Apple to actually charge 30 Buck's for them is completly ridiculous. First of all there poorely made. I have used them with my iPod before & literly in a couple of week's one side would be shorted out. Secondly they are constantly falling out of you'r ears. I know that all earbuds will slip out from time to time, but not everytime you move you'r head. Thirdly & most importantly in my oppinion. They are just really uncomfortable in you'r ears. Evertyime i use these headphones, my ears are really sore afterwards. I mean it shouldn't be this many problems with a pair of headphones. Apple is trully an amazing company. Please don't think I'am in nany way trying to knock them. I just think that a company that makes trully amazing product like the iPod, could make a much better pair of headphones.

Not what I expected 2008-07-15
These earbuds dont look like the ones they pictured on the site or like the ones that come with ipods. They look generic to me. Dont waste your time with these. The site says they are apple but I'm not so sure.

The first-gen iPod earbuds were better 2008-07-12
I got a pair of the second-gen earbuds when I bought a Shuffle recently and can't stand them. The sound is great but they will not stay in my ears. The earbuds that came with my 5G iPod do not suffer from this problem and I wish I could find a pair of them to compliment my Shuffle.

Decent 2008-05-29
The sound quality is decent, but not 20 dollars worth of decent. They're durable enough to be at the bottom of my bookbag or large purse, but not durable enough to withstand the powerful jaws of my 7.5 pound dog... but I never expected them to be.

They're okay headphones as far as consumer products go, but probably only worth 15 dollars at the most.

It said it was Apple, but I'm not so sure... 2008-05-09
The phrase "you get what you pay for" comes to mind every time when I look to buy a discounted anything. I thought that this was a great deal when I ordered these earbuds as a replacement set for the ones that came with my son's iPod. They look different than the original, fit different than the original, and, most importantly, sound different...and not in a good way. They sound tinny and have little, if any, bass. In short, DO NOT BUY THESE EARBUDS!!! Buy directly from Apple and pay for what you get.

crap and counterfeit 2008-05-03
This product is illegal. It is not an apple product. The gray area is not rubber like apple it is plastic and has a mold process tag so it cuts into your ear. They are too big for the ear. The sound quality is about what you would expect from headphones that use aluminum foil as an oscillator.
