This Laptop OOZES quality for a low end computer
2007-09-30
First let me say that I chose a toshiba over a Compaq/HP because in my expirence, toshiba's are absolute tanks.
I picked mine up today at Circuit city for 450 after they knocked 50 bucks off the price when i showed them the ad for the Compaq at best buy. The service at my circuit city is just exceptional whereas the bestbuy near me is horrid.
The laptop does NOT have a physical volume knob, its a fn shortcut on the keyboard that increases the volume in increments of about 20.
the laptop has a intel GMA 959 and a vista expirence rating of 3.1
I bought it as a supplement to my PC which is for gaming whereas i needed the laptop for mobility and more serious work
the laptop feels extremely solid, the mouse has a nice tactile click and the keys feel really nice, as well as the very cool looking font printed on the keys.
Vista premium runs just fantastic as well as windows media center.
battery on stock settings lasts about 2 1/2 hours. so if youre on the road get an inverter or a bigger capacity 8 cell battery if available.
I had a A15-s157 up until now which lasted me just fine for seven years until the hinge broke after my dad manhandled it.
but I'm happy now and this laptop rocks.
PS: unlike the new toshiba's that have a shiny topside, which get disgusting fast, the top is very professional looking matte black with silver letters.
No Support
2008-01-27
I am not getting the full use of the product because of a lack of support.
Despite e mails to the seller,Comp USA and to Amazon, I cannot get my message to anyone who will help me.
For this reason, I will not buy from Amazon or Comp USA again.
toshiba notebook

The Toshiba notebook is basically an excellent product.
My only concern is the Microsoft Word continually asks me to "Enter Key Product" information and I have no idea what that is or where to find it.
Otherwise the notebook is a very good product.
It's Ok but...

This is my second Toshiba laptop. It is fast enough for my home use. I thought it would be fine until I started experiencing trouble with Internet Explorer. I have been forced to download another web browser [OPERA] and cannot use IE at all.
I have now been told by my ISP and Microsoft that this is now Toshiba's problem. Did you ever try to find a local authorized repair shop????
Therefore - I am leary about recommending this model.
Great deal!!!! alot of bloat ware
2007-11-27
This computer is great for the $$! (you only get 98GB of 120) however the bloatware is almost three gigs (pre-installed junk, the rest is OS, I guess). I really like the vista premium that comes installed, however you need to make some adjustments so it does not kill your computer conection (wireless). Overall this is one of the best deals you can find for a laptop, the wireless connection is ok, via LAN on a DSL or higher line is better than some of the 2.0Ghz comps you can get (SONY you A@@ Holes) (this one is only 1.4)
Overall I am satisfied, this is my second venture outside of HP other than Sony. I would recommend this to anyone (who needs a comp for college work and caula net surfing but not for games).

I am a Mac guy. however, I bought this notebook to use mainly for stock trading while I'm traveling, nothing fancy in term of computer power needs. (Paid $499 + tax at circuit city after $180 mail in rebate). Maybe it's a combination of Vista and 1GB RAM, but this thing is slow as a snail. AND web browsers/outlook/simple trading software crash continuously. would not recommend it. If you are looking to trade on this thing, keep looking.
