Very Satisfied Customer 2008-06-17
Although I've had this printer only 2 or 3 weeks, I must say I'm favorably impressed. I particularly like the touch screen; very easy to use and rapid responce (The large LED is also a big plus). It was very easy to set up on my wireless network. I have two computers, and each one has no problem communicating with the printer. It is an excellent product, if you are in the market for a new wireless-capable 3-in-1 printer (No fax).

Ready to go in minutes 2008-06-16
I just bought this printer and have it up and running quickly. I added it to a locked down wireless network (WPA2-Personal, non-SSID broadcasting, 802.11g/n, Apple AirPort Extreme). The tools and drivers are installed with no problem on a PC with Vista and a Mac OS 10.5.3. All that to say that my home environment is about as complicated as you might find, and I still installed it with surprising ease.

Printing functionality is great, scanning is great. I have piles of old "film" pictures that I would like to scan to digital form. While waiting for installations to complete, I tried that out. It is as painless as you could possibly find. It is easy to scan pictures right to your computer. In fact, it will even scan them right to iPhoto on my Mac! That is really cool!

From a PC, it can also simulate duplex printing by printing one side and then it prompts you, with pictures, to re-insert the document back into the printer in a particular way and it will take care of the rest. I haven't yet figured out how to do that from a Mac, so I just copied the files to the PC and away I go.

I love it 2008-06-12
This printer works great even for what I bought it for, scanning negatives. It's extremely easy to use and prints quickly

No regrets! 2008-06-09
Works like a charm. No complaints. It does what it says it'll do and does it quite well.

Hp C8180 Great AIO 2008-06-08
I purchased this Hp C8180 in April on sale at Staples for 198.00. After reading the reviews on Amazon I took the suggestion of installing the software from the website because of the upgrades and it worked great... a little long download, but no glitches after installation, wireless with a MacBook Pro works great! Not being techie, I was happy it "just worked", like my Mac.

I did have trouble with the roxio software, set up for PC. Went to the lightscribe website (www.lightscribe.com/downloadSection/) and downloaded from there... I couldn't burn the discs until I hooked my MacBook Pro directly to printer... then the artwork printed with titles without a hitch. Can print just the titles from the touch screen on the printer.

Scanner works great whether scanning text or photos. Was a little tricky using the photo paper tray, but after adjusting the settings in the print setup menu and clicking on paper handling, photo tray.... works great.

I like making greeting cards, I use MacKiev PrintShop 2 and the drivers won't allow me to print the #10 or the 5 3/4" x 8 3/4" card envelopes, if anyone know a work around please let me know. I tried the tech departments of both HP and MacKiev and neither were able to help me. Did work on old printer....

I Love the feature of printing and burning cds of my photos directly from the SD card and even takes other size digital camera cards... Saves lots of time and can print from cd later. Photos print fast and look like I picked them up from a lab.

Overall, I am very happy with the HP C8180 and at the price I couldn't resist. I paid more than that for my last wireless printer and it had none of the bells and whistles this one has! Plus I've done about 20 photos, copied and printed over 60 sheets of paper and 15 Greeting cards... all on the same ink cartridges that came with it, and still going!! I'm Very happy with my purchase!

I love it 2008-07-24
When I first got married, I had a slide camera, it took half slides so on a roll of 35 mm film, I got twice the amount of pictures at half the size each. They have been in a box for many years. I didn't know how I would ever get them unless I went to a professional. This all in one allows me to retrieve my pictures. I started with my beautiful young wife at the NY Worlds Fair in 1964. Scans are great and prints are great too.

This product doesn't work 2008-07-16
Despite six weeks of effort including five hours on the phone with HP, the scanner never worked. HP promised on three different occasions to have an engineer call me the following day to fix my problem. They never did call. So I finally returned the printer and purchased a Canon MP610, which works well.

Here are some other serious problems with the HP C8180.

It takes about a minute to make one copy.

The HP software is highly invasive. It includes resident programs for ordering ink and spyware to report to HP on your printer use. Their software slowed my computer down. When I complained to HP, they acknowledged the problem and sent me a link to a website with instructions on how to disable all of their programs.

I am an electronics engineer and began using HP electronic instruments in 1958. For decades I was an enthusiastic HP fan. But now I doubt that I'll ever buy an HP product again.

C8180 2008-07-08
After having read some of the reviews on here, i've observed a few things. Apparently, one, i should've waited a couple of more months to buy mine and i could've saved around 200 dollars; secondly, it seems that some people need to fully read the instructions before they get upset over the printer working or not working.

First off, I want to say that download the software from the internet. I bought the printer in November 07, and in February, the printer stopped working over the network. So, I had to reinstall the software from the website on all of the laptops that use the printers, and it's worked flawlessly since. Also, if you want to take advantage of every option on this printer, especially the cd/dvd lightscribe drive, you will have to use the USB connection. Also, it will print in black only if one of your cartridges is out of ink. You will have to go the printer itself and hit ok on the touchscreen. You can also use the included software to print using the lightscribe, or you can make generic (extremely) labels using the touchpad.

cons:
1. I'm sure it has some, but it works just fine for me. I don't do any major scanning or anything like that. I love to use it for the copy functions, especially in a pinch. It prints awesome pictures and documents.

Pros:
1. A lot of people don't like the ink. It is a PHOTO printer before all things. If you want different or better document ink, then get the officesmart printer.

1a. with the ink, you can buy all six cartridges for around $35. This also includes 150 4x6 photo pages.

SLOWEST scanner EVER! 2008-06-21
It takes this scanner a full hour to scan a 4 x 6 at 3600 dpi! Sslow slow SLOW!

Amazing wireless and Bluetooth printer 2008-06-20
The initial wireless setup was a quite a pain when I did not follow the documentation which was pretty much for dummies.

The Wireless interactions between my different laptops is another story however. The data communication seemed to break and the printing would stop half way. The printer was smart enough to start printing the job again but I did not want to start over printing the 1st page of 52 pages when i was at the 10th page.

All my problems were solved when I switched to bluetooth connectivity. no more dropped data packets. Its a pretty speedy printer for a home model.

Its got a DVD Lightscribe drive to burn DVDs and etch labels permanently on the disk kinda cool eh but I never really tried out the disk drive. I have a lightscribe drive in my laptop.

Its got all the memory card slot we have currently and a USB port for either printing from a usb drive or scanning documents in to the memory cards and/or usb drive.

Scanning over bluetooth would have been a cool feature but i guess it doesn't make sense as you would need to go to the printer to switch documents anyway.

Its also got some feature where it can scan of a film roll. Why would anyone want to do that. I guess there are bigger geeks than me. never tried that feature either.

All in all I'm happy with my purchase and would recommend anyone interested to choose this printer.

Happy shopping
