guitar hero III for pc 2008-06-10
the game is exact to xbox and ps2 but on pc it sucks, maybe its just windows but alot of problems

Doesn't work on my computer 2008-06-09
I have a Macbook, 2.4GHz and 2 GB memory (which I believe meets the minimum system requirements listed) and the game would not run properly. I downloaded the patches and put all the game options on the most minimalist settings, and still the game would not run properly. Really frustrating.
I have the game for PS2 and it is a fun game, so I would recommend the Aspyr Mac/PC version only if you have a much faster computer.

Better have one GOOD PC 2008-06-07
This game, I have been told is good, if you can connect two PCs together and run them as one, with all the right equipment. However, I got it under the assumtion that it would run as long as you had Windows XP SP2 or one of the other listed operating systems. That is not even close to being true. The requirements for the game to run are out the roof. I went to ask my uncle who works on computer what I needed to run it and he told me about a brand new $1000 computer, and out of all the computer he has he can't even run that game, and he has the affordable top quality products. It's not worth the money to get the game and to upgrade your computer to meet it's standards, it's better to just get a PS2 or other gaming device and getting it for that console. I would not reccomend this game for the PC, it's just not worth the hassel.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?!?! I JUST HIT THAT NOTE! 2008-06-03
My sister used to religiousely play the game Super Guitar Maniac Deluxe, a flash game that was a watered down version of Guitar Hero. As she hurridely unwrapped the packaging of the gift I gave her she was already running to her computer to install it. My sister had the newest, most expensive Macbook (which is a must for a religious World of Warcraft player that she was)and she sat watchting the bar go from the left to the right as it installed. She had a huge smile on her face when the "INSTALLATION COMPLETE" sign appeared. She plugged in, and fired up "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" by Pat Benetar. As that first note came glowing in she was ready. And then she missed the note. She missed the note after that, and after that, and after that. I tried it (having played it so many times at countless friends houses), and quickly became aggravated. So I tried it on my screaming fast HP laptop. It didnt work. When the requirements to run the game were checked, I realized that almost no Macs are able to run this pathetically ported game. I am angry. Now, I have to go to the post office and pay those people more than ten dollars, to return something that was supposed to work. IF YOUR GOING TO CHARGE $[...] FOR SOMETHING, MAKE SURE IT ACTUALLY WORKS ON NORMAL COMPUTERS!!!

No problems here 2008-05-21
I have Guitar Hero III running on an Athlon 64 3500, with an ATI X850 Pro, and 2GB RAM. It runs smooth and fast on much older hardware than others who are complaining, so I wonder if it is the 2GB RAM that makes the difference?

I am having a blast rocking through the songs on easy and medium, and am now working my way through hard. My children 11 and 8 years old, are having fun too, although they are finding it quite challenging so far.

The lack of downloadable content is my only disappointment so far.

Loads of fun 2008-06-25
Loads of fun. My only problem with the game is that I only know about 20% of the songs, making it very hard to play. I'm waiting for them to release 80s/90s for the Wii as well.

Takes a little coaxing to work, but it's worth it. 2008-06-16
I have a 5 month old higher end Macbook, and in order to get the game to play, you must download a patch from the Guitar Hero website, and put all of the gameplay settings on the lowest performance settings. If you didn't know this, it could get very frustrating to install this game and watch it stall and freeze all the time.

After I got it working, it's a great game!

PC Version Needs Work! 2008-06-14
First of all, the PC version lacks significant flexibility like that which is found in the console versions. To date, there is absolutely NO downloadable content available to PC users. The online battle interface is remedial at best, and it often has limited or not connectivity. Finally, the well-known issue with high system requirements.

Overall, I'd be a much happier customer if they would redo the PC porting and work harder to lower the system requirements, such as allowing users to disable unnecessary graphic-intensive operations. In a world where all you want to do is wail on the frets without notes skipping ahead, who needs dancing avatars... *sigh*

Very adictive. 2008-06-14
I love this game. I had played it some time ago, but I am not a console fan, so I had to wait for it to come out in the PC.

I have used it with no problem. I am running Vista Premium Home 64 bit, and a computer index of 5.4.

It's a very fun family game. I am thinking of getting a second controller for the cooperative mode, even though you can play it with the keyboard.

Guitar hero rocks!!! 2008-06-13
Was hesitant to buy it after reading some of the reviews, but (after calibrating the sound) it runs great on both my macs (iMac and Macbook Pro). Am very happy with my purchase.
