Nice Tabloid Scanner

Very economical, nice medium-format scanner. Colors are not perfect but more than adequate for engineering/architectural mark-ups. Controls are simple and adequate but would be nice to scan to more formats. We "copy" to a virtual pdf printer to create pdf's.
We have only had the scanner a couple of months and have not put it through any grinding tests. But all things considered, a great buy for the buck. We're hoping Mustek will come out with an economical large format (24"+) scanner, next.
Cheapest large flatbed scanner

This is by far the cheapest flatbed scanner i could find. That said, i didnt know what type of quality to expect when it arrived. The quality is great, I'm not sure what a top dollar flatbed scanner is like, in terms of quality, but i can't imagine it is worth the $800 extra. Anyways, great scanner, great price, and it works with my mac powerbook g4, no problem at all, even scanning directly into photoshop.
What a horrid bunch of junk - soft and hardward is useless

We received this product via mail, tried to install the software and it kept freezing up. Tried it on three different operating systems. When we finally got it to run the scanner did nothing. It doesn't scan. Light goes on, but nothing else. This is too expensive for a night light and that's all you'll get if you order it.
Fair Scanner for the money 2008-06-23
After downloading the latest scanners, it did a fair job of scanning a large format document.
Several complaints:
- The shipped drivers do not work on a Vista system, you'll need to download the latest drivers from their site.
- Using the twain driver ( needed to scan to my software package ), it only scans to JPG format, when I needed TIF. An email to mustek asking for a resolution was ignored.
- Does not work with paperport, it completely locks up.
Doesn't work with CS3

You can't really find a large format scanner for a better price, so I wouldn't want to recommend anyone away from this scanner, but it would have been nice to know that it doesn't work with Photoshop CS3 before I bought it. Also, the bundled ULead Photo Express software is not very user friendly, there are way too many steps to take just to save a file in a different folder than the one prespecified and it oversaturates the colors when scanning. I don't know if the oversaturation is because of the scanner or the software. I emailed tech support and never got a response. I would have given it three stars if it didn't oversaturate the colors, and four stars if it worked with Photoshop CS3.
It WORKS under OS X!

To Mac OS X users: I've successfully tried this scanner! I can confirm that the TWAIN driver is on the Mustek site (and also on the CD that comes with the scanner, in my case), you just have to download it with the right-clic method. After this, you'll only need the right app to use the scanner: Photoshop, the only program that's able to recognize the non-standard Mustek TWAIN driver. Before discovering this, I've tried the ScanExpress 1200 Pro under Image Capture, GrapchiConverter etc... but no way. In Photoshop, it works instantly like a charm. Hope this will help some OS X user out there...
Very Satisfied 2008-05-18
I am in the business of converting artwork to vector CAD and CAM data for manufacturing. I did not expect this kind of accuracy for the price. It is consistently accurate to within .002 percent (better than my Epson and HP scanners) and is very easy to use. I will buy another one if or when I wear this one out. This is clearly the best value in the A3 arena of scanners. I am very satisfied an would highly recommend to anyone, on a budget or not.
Can't Beat it for the Money 2008-05-14
If the A3 were as fast or on par with Epson or HP quality, I'd give it 5 stars. This is the only affordable product I have found in an oversize format, and I need something to scan in 11x17 line art. It works fine for that. I'm a little sad that it seems to be discontinued. I'd go out and buy another if this one ever broke. By that time, I'm sure they'll be scarce as hen's teeth. I'm thankful some retailers still have a few left in the warehouse. I may buy another as a back up.

Cheapest large format scanner you can get. Its perfect for scanning half sheet electrical or construction drawings. If you are looking for exact photo reproductions be prepared to spend more money. This paid for itself the first job I used it on. Noise and speed were not a priority, but size was.
fine large scale and ocr text reader 2008-04-18
this has scaned several pictures a few as large as 11x17 and small as 3x4 and it does a fairly good job as an optical character reconition software. especially 8.5x14 legal size paper
