Great simple game 2008-10-03
This game is a great game that doesn't require alot of thought to have fun with my only problem with the game is it takes forever while playing online.

Love all Sid Meier Games 2008-09-30
While this game runs similarly to many of the Civilization group of games, it has a different perspective, different goals and methods. While familiar in game play, there are new things to learn and new challenges for those who enjoy Civ.

Really awesome strategy game. 2008-09-25
This game isn't about a story line. It's about strategy and lot's of it. It's about as straight forward as you can get. The Easy mode is what I'd suggest for people who want to either get acquainted with strategy games or just not think, but still play this genre of game. It gets harder only a reasonable amount as you go up in difficulty. There is no split screen, but you can easily connect online to somebody for a head to head match. All the fun facts that are in the game a pretty good bonus I'd say. You don't need to know the history behind the things, but it's just enough information to remain interesting. Overall, you really can't go wrong with this game unless you're going for achievements and you are really horrible at strategy games. Maybe the worst part is that you can spend hours on the game and not notice it. lol

Unsure if it's a worthy buy 2008-09-22
I agree with much of what many say about the game's short length. It's definitely addictive, fun, but most certainly NOT price-worthy. From a novice into the civ games, I enjoy the gameplay alot but yet still have difficulty grasping certain concepts. But, regardless, the game needs to be longer...or at the very least give players the option of extending it to unpredictable outcomes. So I'll return my rental in a day or so, but probably won't buy it afterwards.

Its not worth it 2008-09-19
Pros:
The turns do not have to be manually selected when there are no changes in the game play. Turns automatically cycle though if you have no available moves. I also liked the creating of armies with 3 separate groups of soldiers.

Cons:
BOOOORRRRING....
The game lacks the strategy from the previous versions.
You have no control over the workers, yes you can tell them what they should do, but I prefer control over them, to tell them where they need to go etc.
The game seems to cater to 5 year olds. Whats up with the goofy characters popping up on the screen talking gibberish. Very annoying. You can turn off the gibberish sounds but cant turn off the goofy characters. They just annoy you through the entire game. I literally expect Goofy to pop up, thats how goofy these characters look.
The is no auto explore. You gotta manually make each move.
The map is too small. You run into other Civs within a few moves.
The game is too short. I would like a little depth, thank you.
The cartoony like graphics were disappointed. I, and I am sure most other Civ fans, would have prefered a more realistic type graphics in the game.

Overall, as a Civ fan, I was highly disappointed in this game, even pre-orderd the damn thing. If you are a Civ fan, and would like to check out this game, wait til the price drops and see if you can get it for 5 bucks, because that is all it is worth to me.

Fun 2008-09-07

Always liked the PC version, and this one is great too! 2008-09-04
I started playing Civ when it first came out umpteen years ago. It seems to keep getting better with age. I was quite excited to see the demo pop up on the 360, so I played it a few times just to see what things looked like. I was impressed, so went ahead and ordered it.

I have been having a blast!

My only complaint is there is no way to really get in and tweak the start of the game. You go up against a certain number of players, and the land is a certain size. I prefer to go all out and have a large area with lots of enemies, as that makes for a deeper experience.

As it is though, I am enjoying it, and at the end of the day that's all the counts to me.

Civilization's Baby Brother 2008-09-02
Lives up to the Civilization standard! It's a great game and I guarantee you'll love your first victory in world domination - with whatever path you choose. Unlike previous Civilizations for the PC this one goes along with a faster pace and less customizations (basically no pre-game customizations); however, the multiplayer is far more engaging and easily accessible. This is a game you want in your collection, especially if you haven't played a Sid Meier game.

Good for an hour of play at most 2008-08-27
This game was a total let down. The time moves so fast, that just as things get interesting, the game ends. And it is not like the old one where you could keep playing (even though you had won), in this version, it just ends. you can start over, but the same thing happens again.

COMPLETE LET DOWN.....

Great first try for the console 2008-08-26
Pro's

* Excellent Graphics
* Great Game Play
* Games are not as long and tiresome as the original PC game

Con's
* I get a headache after playing too long b/c of the way the screen moves from one city to another. It bounces all over the place after you have built tons of cities.
* Not a huge variety of units and buildings compared to PC civ

Multiplayer -

Pro's
*Games are completed fairly quick appx 2-4 hours

Con's
*Lots of disconnects and lock ups which are very annoying
*Games are not customizable
*Only allows 4 people in multiplayer

Overall the game is still fun to play! I have logged several hours trying to unlock all the achievements.
