BUYER BEWARE: These earbuds WILL fail.
2008-07-08
Mark my words: It's only a matter of time before one or both sides of the headset will fail. Everything is peachy until that happens, which would explain the positive reviews that can be found.
I am willing to be that many of those positive reviews were posted after owning these earbuds for a short time but before giving them a chance to fail, which seems to be inevitable in my judgement.
The only saving grace for these things is the 1-year warranty, and possibly Amazon.com's return policy.
That said, these earbuds are great if it wasn't for the poor durability. At $[...] one should be able to expect them to last more than a few months at best.
Until build quality improves, I simply cannot recommend these iPhone headphones.
Great Sound Quality, Die Quickly
2008-07-07
Much better sound quality than the stock iPhone buds but these puppies die constantly. My second pair just died (buds stopped working) which is unacceptable for a $100 product. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one.
There may be some decent pairs out there as my best friend's has been going for months, but even with me taking great care of them they still keep dying on me.
Awesome earphones and handsfree all-in-one!

When I saw these headphones I thought they were a very stylish headphone and was excited to replace the default iPhone headphones that never stay in my ear. When I put them on for the first time I was amazed at the sound quality especially the bass reproduction. They simply sound awesome! The handfree functionality is great too. You can answer calls with the button near the microphone. Sound quality is good, and the other person can hear me clearly. When in ipod mode, songs can be paused with a button press, but what I found that was really neat was that "double clicking" the button it skipped to the next song. Perfect for the gym when you dont want to mess around! GREAT PURCHASE!
Broke after 30 days

The headphones broke after 30 days - barely outside of the return period. How lame!
Pretty Good
2008-06-22
I thought this headset was very comfortable, especially compared to the Rivet and Apple headsets. Sound quality was pretty good and the microphone had pretty good pickup.
Own the downside, the volume in one earbud has gotten significantly quieter than in the other, and I've noticed a little fraying in the cord near the plug. I guess I've been hard on it.
My biggest complaint (other than the price) is that the button is a little difficult to find and press, especially when you are trying to find it via touch. It could definitely be a little bigger or more pronounced.
Awesome, but kinked after 6 months and mic too big

not worth the price

These buds look great and sound a little better than the buds that come with your phone. The rope-ish cable is odd and it didn't wrap as easily as the ones made by Apple. The pause button and price were the killer for me. The button is too small and difficult to just grab/press/pause. The design of the button on the Apple ear buds is just so much better. With all this, it's just worth the price. I sent mine back.
not acceptable for phone use with Blackberry Pearl
2008-06-19
I love the v-moda earbuds for listening to music, and bought the vibe duo's hoping for a great headset for my Blackberry Pearl. What a huge disappointment.
They are okay for listening to music, and they do fit better than other earphones. But the microphone is unacceptable; I hear a hissing noise when I use the phone. I expected the same clarity for the phone that I would get with any other corded headset, and v-moda has worse reception on the phone than my bluetooth headsets. How disappointing...Don't waste your money on the Vibe Duo if you have a Blackberry Pearl.
Great Headphones
2008-06-16
The VMODA vibe duo was the headphones I bought to replace the stock iPhone headphones after the right ear bud of that pair failed.
These headphones are much better than the stock ear buds not because of superior sound but because of the passive noise reduction. I can wear the Vibe Duo ear buds with no music playing and the background noise in the cubicle farm in which I work is reduced by at least half. When the music is playing I can not hear anything happening around me in the office even at moderate volumes.
I can even use a gasoline lawnmower with just the Vibe Duo headphones and still listen to music clearly at less than 2/3 full volume.
The self-closing carrying pouch it handy. The construction seems robust. I would buy these again.
The sound is base heavy compared to stock. Folks who say that the sound quality is bad must have better hearing than me. I probably could not tell the difference between any phones unless I compared directly one after the other.
Great sound..just give them some time

At $99 a pair, I expected the V-MODA Duo's to sound amazing right out of the box. Unfortunately, I was really disappointed, as they sounded much worse than a cheaper pair of Sony MDR-EX71SLA's that I was replacing. After doing some online research, I found that many higher end earphones require a burn in period for the true sound of the earphones to set in. While not everyone agrees with the burn in concept, my experience proved that the V-MODA's needed about 100 hours of play time before their true, rich sound came through. I almost gave up and returned the earphones, but now, they're well worth the wait (and price).
