Cheap non wired alternative to hallway lighting

Worked as advertised. Takes 3 AAA and lasts very long time ( 2 months or so on rechargeables). A litle pricey but well worth it...

I bought this item for my self and found it worked so well I bought more for my daughter. I don't like to leave the hall light on for those middle-of-the-night trips to the bathroom but I do like to see where I am going! This item is the answer. The light is motion sensitive and is only on when movement triggers it. I have placed the light 3 inches above the floor so the light provided is enough to show my way.

Perfect Solution

Bought this to solve a problem of getting light on the stairs without having it always on or having to run wires. The motion sensor works great, stays on just the right amount of time and is small enough to place anywhere. Light is super bright and can light up half the staircase.

Spoton is Spot On

My husband insisted on keeping the hall & stairs light on all evening, incase one of the kids had to get up during the night. I installed this in the hall right before the stairs. We no longer keep the hall light on as we know if anyone gets up this light will turn on and provide the necessary light to safely use the stairs.

I also just put one right inside the door to my home office. The desk light is way into the room, I am constantly tripping over something to get to that light. Now I just wave my hand when entering the room, and this light turns on showing me the way to my desk to turn on the main light.

I also intend to order a couple more!

not as expected

I got this for the bathroom in the middle of the night. However, the motion sensor doesnt work.

This light works well as a sensor. It comes on as soon as you enter the room. The light is not real bright, but it lights up a small area.

works as they say . enough light to see the door, room area , etc. would be better if it had a photocell to shut off during the day.

Fantastic Product

This is a fantastic product -- a little cordless light as versatile as they get. And they do not come easily. I discovered a plethora of switch-based products, but none other which was motion-activated.

To what unique purpose have I applied this little beauty? I have placed it within a covered cat box, so our largish kitty could feel less claustrophobic while attending to his business. Or so says my wife.

I must confess that I have been so enamored with this little light that I have several times waved my hand within the cat box, and marveled at how magically it turns on. Perhaps I am easily impressed -- I am still amazed taking an airplane flight when the huge hunk of metal actually lifts into the air.

One other obsessive detail, mentioned by a few other reviewers: this light comes apart for a battery change, not by wrestling with the impossibly-tight Tab A in Slot B or the even more annoying micro-screws for which no screwdriver in your extensively well-equipped toolbox was made, but rather with an ingeniously simple array of four small magnets which readily pull apart when needed but which otherwise hold the unit snugly together.

This is truly inspired design and excellent construction. And it's a steal at its just-over 15 bucks price point.

Kudos to Philips. I suggest they next direct their attention to the blundering American automotive industry.

Works perfectly

I bought this light to cut back on electricity use in my bathroom. Works perfectly and couldn't be simpler to install. I like the automatic shutoff - It's set about right and gives a nice light to my bathroom at night. I'm ordering another one to light my porch.

Perfect for its intended use

The light senses human/animal motion from about 5 feet away and stays on for 10-15 seconds. It is bright enough to find your way through the room or find the key hole at night. Being one of the only motion lights that is compact and battery operated make it very useful.

Only slight drawbacks are that you can not adjust sensitivity or duration of light and there is no photo sensor so the light will turn on during the day as well as at night. Maybe this will burn through batteries faster than if it only turned on at night but its not a big deal. Use the regular AAA's that are included in the package then pick up some Eneloops and use them. Great light at a fair price. Recommended.
