Editorial Review
Finally, there's an easy way to enjoy downloaded video on a TV instead of your computer screen. The new Sansa TakeTV video player is a breakthrough device that gives you a smart, convenient, and affordable way to take video from the PC to the TV, where it belongs. It's as simple as using a USB flash drive: just drag files to your TakeTV player, slip it into the TV cradle, and press play on the included remote. No confusing WiFi set-ups, no waiting to burn DVDs. It really is that easy.

Stop wasting time burning DVD's 2008-06-09
This thing is great for people that download video off the internet and hate spending time burning DVD's so you can watch them on TV. It takes a few short minutes to drag and drop content. Watch it and then delete it. Of course if you want to keep it burn a DVD, but a lot stuff is not worth the time or money. This thing is awesome for the price. A poor man's TIVO.

Sandisk pulls the plug on TAKE-TV... 2008-06-07
Buyer Beware. Sandisk announced today that it has pulled the plug on Take-TV permanently. "This past Fall, it launched just ahead of the flood of media extenders that bring PC content to the TV. And while many felt it worked decently, it couldn't keep up with the big dogs in the end as Sandisk confirmed today they killed the TakeTV line...in mid-May. Additionally, they shut down the Fanfare media portal attached to it."

RIP Take-TV.

Sansa TakeTV 2008-05-29
This product has many great possibilities but right now I believe that Sansa is still working out a few kinks. I had to return my product to Sansa and am awaiting a replacement. The USB memory stick was not always recognized by Windows XP. It failed about 80% of the time. The one time I attempted to play a video file on my TV it froze about a minute in to the video. An HDMI connection would also be a nice feature in the in the next version. Sansa tech support was super but a little slow in getting an RMA set up for a replacement.

Great Product, Great Price 2008-05-22
Not much to say. Works as expected.

the GOOD: Works as advertised. Subtitles (.srt) files work also =D

the BAD: Remote is odd and funky, tolerable though.

Cheap and easy.

Not bad, not great.... 2008-05-19
TakeTV does what it claims to and it is brilliantly easy to use. No software installations, not too much fiddling about. Just drag and drop your files onto the flash drive, plug it into the TV cradle and play. However I've read a few forums complaining of bugs, one of which I have experienced myself: sometimes the audio goes out of sync with the video, which is very annoying - and of course the website offers no help for users what-so-ever re bugs. I've found that fast forwarding the video for a second tends to fix the problem, but it's still a pain for a fancy new toy.

Movies on the go 2008-07-23
One of the best things that I have ever purchased. Its easy to use and understand. Drag and drop Avi files to the take TV USB drive plug into the TV module and watch your movie easy as that. Highly recommended.

Take TV 2008-07-08
product is fun and works nice. The only draw back is that it isn't playing .mp4 files

perfect to watch divx on your tv 2008-06-27
Bought the take tv this summer and it is easy to set up and use. It also works great with (Ubuntu) Linux so no problem transferring the files. Memory of 8 gb is sufficient if you regularly watch and swap files with the computer. No problems playing subtitle files. I only play divx files and that works perfect. Remote only works if you are near the player. For the price I would not hesitate to buy it, sure beats all the hassle of burning all your videos on a disc!

Great Device!!! 2008-06-18
The Goods:
I bought this item about 6 months ago and so far has worked perfectly! I'm not gonna lie I download a lot of RS movies and most of them come ready to use in avi. I know there are a million different types of avi formats but it seems this little device plays them all. I can't tell you how nice it is to download a move then watch it on my 52" plasma in seconds. I tried the cord thing form my pc and got static and horrible audio. The audio on this is perfect by the way. I have it hooked up to my surround sound and it's great! Oh and one other thing is I kept hearing people say the remote sucks. I have a fairly big room and it works just fine. You do need to hold the button down for half a second but if you do that I haven't had any problems with any buttons. The batteries seem fine I use mine a lot and have had no problems. Another great thing about the product is it's really only 8GB USB drive. I have a few other 4GB drives so I don't need it but I did have a large 7gb file I didn't want to rar so I just grabbed my sandisk. IT works just like a thumb drive.

The probs:
There are however a few downfalls. Like I said before 90% of my stuff is RS downloaded so not always the best quality. Sometimes the audio will not sync up with the video. I can usually fix this by stopping the movie them pressing the play button again to resume the film. Out of the 100 movies I've watched only a few have had this problem. And yes I double check on my PC to make sure it's not just a sync problem. The audio is fine on my PC. One other minor problem is when there are a lot of different things on the screen sometimes the audio and video will get choppy. For instance I was watching Planet Earth series and when a huge flock of like a million birds filled the screen the video/audio got choppy like it couldn't process all the info.

All in ALL: Great device. I know the bad sounds bad but I'm telling you its a great product. If sandisk can solve the problems with the video getting choppy and the auido sync it would be perfect product. Oh and maybe play mp4 as well. If you download movies from the internet and want to watch them on your big screen get this product. I've used a bunch of other crap and this works 10x better than all of them

Not many video format 2008-06-12
My main problem was that it did not work with any video format.
Also the remote did not work properly.
