This is NOT a BEAN POT!

I lived in Mexico for over 8 years. I learned to cook there from REAL Mexican cooks, not wannabes like Bayless. A BEAN POT in Mexico is for the STOVETOP! Shame on Rick Bayless, he's spent enough time in Mexico to know better.
I almost bought this and then saw the reviews. WHO IN MEXICO makes beans in the oven? No one I ever met! Not Diana Kennedy, not Marilyn Tausend or any of the other true EXPERTS in Mexican Cuisine.
Bayless' books are awful and apparently so is his 'cookware'.

I am very pleased with this Bean Pot, I love the size. This a perfect dish for me to take to our church suppers. Love it!
Misinterpretation of its purpose- it works! 2008-02-15
If you buy beans from the store and need to soak them for a period of time, this jar is exactly what you need.
I do not believe it is to be used as a cooking implement, as previously reviewed by others. I bought it for my sister and she soaks pinto beans and lentils. Works like a charm!

Color, size are fine. Made chilli...slow cook in the oven. Worked out nicely. We think this is a bargain at the price. I am very happy with our purchase. Wish we could use it on top of the stove....overall a five star!

Solid little pot and nice looking. I leave it on the stove, as my kitchen is yellow with cobalt blue trim, and this pot fits perfectly. Nice capacity.
A very good buy 2008-06-10
We bought this for a house warming gift for friends. They were very pleased and tell us they use it often. Well made, fuctional as well as very beutiful design. In fact they say it is too pretty to put away so they keep it on the kitchen counter.

Cute bean pot, I bought this for my yellow kitchen mainly for looks but also for plants to roost in. the color is more mustard than yellow, not like the pic. Still like it and the packing was super.
Great for Sourdough 2008-05-15
This is a perfect pot for proofing sourdough starter. I have tried several other things in my kitchen but none have worked as well as this. The lid doesn't fit too tight which allows the fermentation gases to escape, but fits tight enough that the moisture created doesn't. I like the smooth rounded sides which make it perfect for stirring (with a non-metal spoon) and it is large enough for expansion of the sourdough when it really gets into action. I could not have picked a better implement for my sourdough endeavors.
Another use for this....... 2008-05-14
I am using these (ordered three) as planters. The color is sunny and bright and they are large enough for my purpose and look great. I used one for flowers, one for lemon thyme and one for dill. As always, I'm pleased with Amazon's specials.
Big Yellow Cookie Jar 2008-03-27
I bought to use as a cookie jar and just love the sunny color. Also, it is perfect size to hold 5 dozen or so cookies. Would not use for a bean pot--but didn't buy for that purpose anyway.
