Editorial Review
The Wireless-N Gigabit Router is three devices in one package. There's the Wireless Access Point, which lets you connect to the network without wires. There's also a built-in 4-port full-duplex 10/100/1000 switch to connect your wired-Ethernet devices together. The Router function ties it all together and lets your whole network share a high-speed cable or DSL Internet connection. The Access Point built into the Router uses the very latest wireless networking technology, Wireless-N (draft 802.11n). By overlaying the signals of multiple radios, Wireless-N's Multiple In, Multiple Out (MIMO) technology multiplies the effective data rate. The robust signal travels farther, maintaining wireless connections much farther than standard Wireless-G. Unlike other speed-enhanced technologies, Wireless-N can dynamically enable this double-speed mode for Wireless-N devices, while still connecting to other wireless devices at their respective fastest speeds. In congested areas, the Good Neighbor mode ensures that the Router checks for other wireless devices in the area before gobbling up the radio band. To help protect your data and privacy, the Router can encode all wireless transmissions with industrial-strength 256-bit encryption. It can serve as your network's DHCP Server, has a powerful SPI firewall to protect your PCs against intruders and most known Internet attacks, and supports VPN pass-through. Configuration is a snap with the web browser-based configuration utility. The incredible speed of Wireless-N makes it ideal for media-centric applications like streaming video, gaming, and Voice over IP telephony, and gives you plenty of headroom to run multiple media-intense data streams through the network at the same time with no degradation in performance. With the Linksys Wireless-N Gigabit Router at the center of your home or office network, you can share a high-speed Internet connection, files, printers, and multi-player games.

Fabulous 2008-06-27
This router was so easy to install...less than 3 minutes. Blazing speed and strong signal strength make this a no-brainer. I replaced my old router that kept dropping signal and cannot believe how fast it is. Don't hesitate, this is the one!

Disappointed with Signal Strength Obtained by Adapter 2008-05-30
I bought this product to replace a Linksys G-router which started giving me frequent disconnections (about every minute or so). I decided to upgrade to this N-router thinking I would have MUCH better and faster speed. WRONG....With the G-router and G-adapter, I always had a strong signal from where my desktop computer was in relation to my notebook computer. With the N-router and N-adapter, I now have a "LOW" signal.....same computers, same locations, etc. I even went out and bought another identical N-adapter but had the same results. I spent several hours configuring the channels, etc., including using Linksys' Chat service. Nothing solved my problem. Tomorrow, however I'm going to solve my problem by taking all of this back and getting a different router and adapter, whether by Linksys or another company, I'm not sure yet. I do know that I was VERY disappointed with this router and the adapter.

One Of the best out there!!! 2008-05-25
NICE NICE NICEEEEEEEEEEE I like this router... It was so easy to setup just as the WRT160N was..insert the CD and that was all... I live in a 2 floor house and this unit is awesome!! it has range in all the house and even in the backyard 3 of 5 bars!! I have never experienced a connection drop but I recommend to put it on a vented area because it get very hot not toooooooo much but it does.. Just as the wrt-160N model I had both and for me they work the same.. same signal strength... both get hot.. very easy to set up... ONly would like that they had an ON/OFF button or switch.. they stay ON all the time.. but If you unplug the power cord it doesn't reset the configuration it continues working fine.... ITS A VERY GOOODDD CHOICE!!!

not an upgrade from previous linksys router 2008-05-09
i was upgrading from the Linksys WRT54GX Wireless-G Broadband Router with SRX that i purchased a year ago and this new router was a major disappointment. i live in a high rise apartment with several rooms so i needed a router that can provide a strong signal. i ran several tests on speedtest.net as well as testing signal strength and my old router was superior with both signal and speed (this router was achieving 1/5 the speed of the old router in the room furthest away from the router). my ps3 also found the signal strength to be just 30% for this router vs 70% for the old WRT54GX router even though it is within direct line of sight. i thought this new gigabit router would be better and faster but it's not, i'm returning it.

A very difficult company to deal with 2008-05-06
This is a bad company. I purchased a wireless router from them and, truth be told, it never really worked right. The speed was ok, but it was impossible to set up without tech support and every so often it would simply stop working. When that happened I would be forced to call tech support and spend 30-60 minutes on the phone fighting with them about resetting the router. I recently purchased a new computer and decided to save a little money by moving this router to it. When I called tech support I was told that the router was out of its warranty period and they could not help me... unless I would pay them to. That's right, I would have to pay for the assistance on their product - a working product because it was not under warranty.

So be warned that you are only buying the option to use Linksys' products for a limited time - that is if you have any problems whatsoever that require tech support. I am now trying a Trendnet. Let's see if they are any better.

Great when it works 2008-07-16
Configuration was easy, features are great, range was good... until the device started gettng hot (or whatever) and started dropping connections and slowing down and had to be manually rebooted. Sometimes these "hang ups" would completely stop traffic even on the switched gig ethernet ports. After about 10 reboots in 20 days I decided it wasn't fun anymore and I'm trying something else.

Very disappointing product from Linksys 2008-07-06
I gotten this WRT310N about 1 month ago. Everything was working perfectly well...initially....until problems appeared. Connection to my laptop was lost and I was unable to reconnect back to the router. I reset the router to factory default setting and even downgrade/upgrade the firmware. It just cannot work. I can see the network which I have created, but I just could not connect. No error messages in the computer management! Its gets really hot after about 10 minutes of usage. Best is to wait for Linksys to come up with a better firmware before purchasing this router.

Excellent router 2008-07-05
A have had this a month and it is working perfectly - very easy set up. I also have a new Linksys access point and it is working perfectly also.

Really Cool Router 2008-07-04
It's a really nice looking router, but that's not a performance matter. The signal strength and the speed are really good, just as I expected, the installation and the LELA software are really easy and friendly. If you follow the instructions step by step as you are told, it will work just great.

Lynksys WRT 310N a disappointment 2008-07-01
I needed a new router and Linksys is a leading brand so after looking a bit I decided to go with the next generation technology and by the new "N" systems.
It was very difficult to install, set up and run. It had serious problems dropping the signal off line over and over. I'm somewhat technically savvy and don't like to give up but this thing had problems from the beginning to the end. It also had problems with different kinds of wireless internet connection devices. All of the computers in the house are still "G" standard and the manual says it'll work just fine with them but it didn't. I called and did online chat with Linksys directly and they still couldn't fix it.
This device cost me 1 weeks time running around the house connecting IEEE cables, reseting computers, re-installing software, firmware, etc. . . . . . I finally took it back and bought the Linksys WRT54GS router. It set itself up right way, set all the other 6 devices in the house up right away, encrypted itself, got everything on line and was done in about 30 minutes. Wow, what a difference. It's straight G but N is still up in the air as far as permanent format anyhow.
Don't buy the WRT310N it's all trouble.
