Palm BT Ultralight Headset & Palm Treo 700W Bad Match
2008-02-24
Although I think the problem resides within the Treo 700W, I purchased the Palm "Ultralight" Headset because the Palm website said they were compatible. It comes in a nice metal case with 3 different sized earpieces that just "snap" in to the device. Also, for a little more secure feeling, you can put an "around the ear" holder so the device doesn't fall off too easily. Also included in the case is a AAA battery and a module to "Quickcharge" the headset. Cool. It takes the same power supply and connector to the headset as the Treo phone to make it less confusing. Lastly, the metal case has a mirror on the backside so you can see how it looks while you're wearing it.
Now, the problems. Again, I think it's the Palm Treo 700W, not the BT Headset that has the problems, but, here they are:
Having so many complaints from the people I call that I'm "In a tin can", or, "Sounding too warbled", I've gone back to holding the handset to my ear in order to have people hear me. I'm in outside sales, and I travel all over Washington State, and parts of Oregon, so it's not a matter of "bad reception where I am." I've tried it in my car (Subaru Outback), outside my car, even gone so far as to go into Verizon store and let them hear it. They have no answer, Palm has no answer, and I'm stuck. The problem goes further; I purchased a Motorola 700 BT Headset, and had the same results. I had Verizon provide me with a NEW Treo 700W, and STILL no luck. I think I'm stuck to using a wired headset rather than a Bluetooth with this particular phone.
I still like the Palm BT Headset though, and I'm keeping it, even though it doesn't work with the Palm phone it's supposed to work with. [...]

Now I have used this headset for 1 month straight everyday, so I know how it is. I have been using it for Centro.
Pros: Good price, comes w free car charger from palm website. Good voice as long as you dont have any surrounding noises or wind. Works good in car but with only windows UP.
Cons: No noise cancellation, and worse the ear buds come out everytime and it is so tiny that you will end up loosing it.
Recommend: Only if you are 70 year old and dont move much
Will I buy again: No
Will I use this till it breaks: Probably
