Disappointed With kodak 2008-08-21
I purchased the Kodak C-813 in June this year. We had a Kodak DX-4330 for several years, couldn't have been happier with it, but it finally died. The reason we decided to stay with Kodak was the DX-4330 was so good. I had read reviews about problems with using the C-813 in day light but didn't think you really can't take outdooor pictures in daylight with the C-813! Boy was I wrong! You have to quess at framing your shots outdoors. Also due to no optical viewfinder have more pictures blurred due to movement indoors/outdoors. It is hard to hold steady will holding a camera out away from you. We did not have this problem with our old Kodak DX4330. Having to open the battery case to take out memory card is also bad design. The larger LCD viewer is great indoors, 8.3 pixels better, but the cons out way the pros on this cammera. My suggestion if you plan to take outdoor pictures get a optical view finder.I am now looking at other brands for the first time to replace the Kodak C-813.

Don't buy this camera 2008-08-19
I bought one of the Kodak C813's and returned it for a Samsung S860 for the same price.
The Kodak's pictures were very grainy and the battery life is very short on a set of batteries.

The EasyShare software was the only way Windows could see the camera. Fedora 8 did detect it with no problems. Hated to be locked into the EasyShare software.

The Samsung S860 does a much better job. It shows up as a USB drive to Windows XP and you can preview images and copy them with no problem without loading any software. The S860 also has many more functions (such as voice notes for the photo) and settings.

Don't waste your money on the C813!

Starving For Light 2008-08-18
Great camera for daylight, fast action, video, great zoom. It lacks a little in the low light, arena. It is a great deal for the price that I payed.

Love the camera 2008-08-14
I love the ease of picture taking, and the wonderful features for different photo types.

Excellent Camera for the Price 2008-08-14
While I do wish it had a viewfinder, I think that for the price, this is a great camera. I purchased it over others becaue it is compatible with the printer/docking station that I bought with my previous camera (I bought this camera because the other one dropped in a parking lot and could not be repaired). I am thrilled with the quality of the photos and ease of use.

A Good Pocket-size Camera! 2008-08-09
This camera is lightweight and pocket sized, so it will be great for taking on a trip! Not quite point-and-shoot, except in AUTO mode; but it does have settings for more than quick snapshots. I did purchase the 2GB Memory Card as well. It takes batteries, so the user will need to factor in batteries when taking it along. I don't know if there are rechargeables for this camera, but that would be worth investigating.
This camera will supplement my larger and more cumbersome Kodak. The price--under $90--makes it a good buy.

In a couple of hundred pages, it includes using a scanner and Adobe Photoshop Elements 2 to rescue faded, damaged family photos, the basic guidelines to good picture taking, how to use Elements 2 to improve your digital photos, and how to print and preserve your pictures for the ages. White, the author of the bestseller "How Computers Work," knows how to pack a lot of helpful, understandable information in a brief no nonsense book.

Review: "This Camera is one of the best in its price range. It takes beautiful clear pictures and can be used right out of the box, but its worth learning all its features. The included memory holds about 20-25 pictures so I upgraded to 128mb. I reccomend getting a 128mb card and the Sony camera case. Not only is this one of the best cameras in its class it includes decent software and rechargeable batteries that are at least a 20$ value.
HIGHLY reccomend over canon, kodak, and fuji. One more thing this camera has CARL Zeiss lens (if you dont know, great lens) all the competetors have generic lens."

The fact is a camera’s megapixel rating is only a measure of how many pixels (photosensitive sites) an image sensor has…. An image sensor is simply one component of an entire system that produces a digital photograph… So resist buying into the megapixel hype when you’re choosing a digital camera. From Chapter 1
