Great Watch

I love the watch!! The size is perfect for a smaller wrist. The heart monitor is more accurate than the machines at the gym and easier to use for small framed people.
Not for cyclists

I got this watch so that I didn't have to wear that silly & annoying strap that the other heart rate monitors have - that was accomplished. I also wanted an easy to see & operate watch - again, accomplished. Next was something that was easy to use - that wasn't accomplishe to my 100% satisfaction. ONLY because it is very hard to put your 2 fingers on the 2 buttons while riding a bike & keeping your pace. It was even difficult on a stationary bike. Other then that, I love it!
Good Heart Rate Monitor

I bought this heart rate monitor because I hated using a chest strap when I did work out. I love how easy it is to check my heart rate especially when I'm doing some strength training exercises (i.e. lunges, squats, chest press, etc.). When checking my heart rate while doing cardio--it was a little bit harder to find. I typically needed to stop or slow down to get a reading from the watch. This can be annoying for some poeple, but I don't mind as I prefer this vs. using a chest strap. If you need a continuous heart rate reading then this isn't for you, but if you need to check your heart rate every few minutes this works well.
Hear Rate Monitor

I bought this to replace a monitor with a chest strap. I like the fact I do not have to deal with the strap and can get readings in the pool. The only thing I do not like is that you have to place your fingers on the sensors to get a reading, but I understand since it does not have the chest strap. I would recommend to anyone that wants a monitor that does not use the strap.
Mio Review

I like all the features, the calorie intake feature is great...I like the petite band...the downside is that the watch face is huge...my wrists are 5.25 inches around and the watch face is larger than my wrist...so even though the band is small the watch is uncomfortable to wear directly on my skin. I wear it over my long sleeve t-shirts and around the house loosely...however, it looks like a real clunker to wear outdoors. I wish the face was a bit smaller...the face is even larger than my Polar F6! It looks small in the picture, but trust me this thing is huge! Other than that, I like the features and functions on this watch! Maybe if your wrist is bigger you won't have this issue!

The Mio Classic Select Sport Watch calculates your heart rate-in addition to telling you the date, time and how many calories you've burned. It's also an alarm and stopwatch. ECG accurate heart rate without a chest strap. Personalized percent of maximum heart rate display. Counts calories burned during exercise. Tracks calories consumed against a daily calorie target. Displays your daily calorie balance, you'll know instantly if you're above or below your daily target. Two-tone watch band in petite length of only 8.5 inches (specifically designed for slender wrists smaller than 6 3/4 inches).Color(s): Blue/Black
a little big, but a great watch
2008-04-14
The watch face is a little big but the watch is great! I check my heart rate during breaks in my step class. There was a little learning curve for using the watch during the class but now I am over the hump and I really love it.
Not for high intensity exersise

I received this watch as a gift after declaring that I did not want to use a chest strap HR monitor. Out of the box it worked great. I immediately found my heart rate along with everyone in the room that day. Set up for the more advanced features was easy to follow once I got out the manual. The problems started when I tried it out at the gym during my normal workout. I figured that it needed to be at least as reliable as the HR on the gym's cardio machines to be useful. I used it while on the treadmill and the elliptical machines to test it out. In both cases I could get my starting HR just fine, and with a couple of tries I could get my HR after upping my speed a little to warm up. It was impossible to to get an accurate HR after reaching my cruising speed (either jogging or on the elliptical). I would have to slow down to nearly a stop in order to find my HR during my workout by which time after making several tries my actual HR would have dropped from the rate I was trying to measure. My recommendation is that if you are using this for anything other than a slow walk buy a unit with a chest strap. That is what I am going to do.
