Linksys WVC54GCA Wireless IP Camera Is a Deal for the Money 2008-09-21
This camera is great for the money, it sets up easy and has many options. Audio, moible streaming and the ability to embed your camera into a web page are a few of the great features found on this camera. there is a working example of a live feed, plus image examples on this site. [...]

linksys internet camera 2008-09-15
Very good product for the money. Motion detector is a bit too sensitive, no matter how much I lower the sensitivity, otherwise a good product and easy to set up.

Bad Product, Overall, Same Problems Many Had Here 2008-09-14
I like to think I'm a very technical and patient person and I really tried my best to like this camera - it was Linksys and Cisco, huge companies that should have done a better job. The camera stopped responding after a few hours (which others have reported here) so I traded it in for a new one, which did the same thing. Tech support recommended reinstalling the same firmware from their website, which worked, then FTP of motion detection stopped working. Tech support couldn't resolve that issue - somebody here said about the username not being able to contain an underscore, that may have been it. The motion detection didn't detect motion half the time, and you couldn't FTP non-motion images (like a normal webcam). After buying two cameras and sinking about 15 hours into troubleshooting, I gave up and am looking for another brand of IP camera.

Software frequently crashes 2008-09-05
This product is worthless! The software that comes with it is pathetic when it doesn't crash and it crashes A LOT! Do not buy this product.

I saw my childs all the time when i was working. That's great.
I recommend this product!!

Ok for a while, but stops working for no reason 2008-09-01

Don't get it for motion detection. 2008-08-31
Encouraged with my previous experience with Linksys items, I went ahead and bought this camera that seemed to meet all of my needs. 640x480 resolution was fine for me, so no problem there. I'm experienced with networking, so setting it up for viewing via the Internet was no problem. Problems come from

1) the motion sensitivity setup being basically useless
2) the Windows utility for viewing and "managing" the camera is useless except for deleting captured video sequences.
3) the camera randomly alters the lighting of the image, which it then interprets as a motion and triggers a motion notification.
4) not having an installable service to do video recording, but having to start the program with a logged in user (maybe this is expecting too much for a consumer-level product, I don't know)
5) the time synch sucks, it loses time if the computer you synch to disappears (turned off) and it fails miserably at looking time up online as the manual says it will

Anyway, I'm probably going to replace it with a D-Link like we use at work that doesn't have any of these problems.

Great wireless camera for under $100 2008-08-25
This is a great wireless camera with web access for under $100. The picture is good, especially via LAN, but even using the TZO server, it's good. A couple of suggestions: if you are setting up to view outside your LAN, set two ports for forwarding 80 and 1024 in your router, and add the mac address of the camera in the attached devices of your router. We had no problems using our WEP security, so don't be discouraged by other reviews, and we didn't have to update firmware, and even if you do, that's a piece of cake. In low light, the picture is grainy, so put it in an area where there's some extra light or where you've got motion sensing light. I'll probably buy another one.

Excellent for mac 2008-08-24
After lots of research over the web, I decided to buy this camera for my surveillance system at home.
I own a Mac, decision was not easy, because my restrictions...seems that to PC is much easier...anyhow, my requirements are:
Need to be wireless
Support MPEG
Color Camera
Compatible with iMac (securityspy software)

Finally I bought four of them...product is excellent for my needs. It is not as expensive as AXIS that starts at 200 and up... for 100 is definately the cameras I was looking for.
I am planning on buying two more cameras!

Does what it says 2008-08-16
It works. I am using it for a simple application, a kitty-cam, to watch the kittens while I am out of the room. I wish it had a wide-angle lens, but all in all, it does what I paid for it to do. I got it set up without help, but it had a few annoyances, so I used the tech-support chat and we straightened it out with very little fuss. You get your money's worth.
