Worst HP product I have owned!!!! Stay Away!!! 2008-10-29
I bought this laptop and it only lasted 2 days!!! yes 2 days. I called HP tech support and after 2 hours of waiting on the phone they said that the motherboard was dead and I needed to ship back the item, I did and guess what the new laptop died 1 month later, same problem same model and same tech support answer "dead motherboard" I received a third item from HP and íf you are following me then yes it died again. what happened to HP? I remember the days that they sold solid good quality high tech devices, I guess that trying to catch up with technology has obligated them to sell stuff that they cannot test and let the customers pay the price. I recommend that you look elsewhere for an item like this, I am going now to switch to Apple. they make more reliable products.

I say no! 2008-10-11
I bot mine 3 moth ago from Amazon.

Negatives

You can cook on it - to much heat comming from upper coner
Screen not showing clear - because of touchscreen possibly
I did not liked the way touchscreen works - may be need more time for practice
Swiveling screen looks bit fragile for me.
Very heavy weight despite the fact that it is 12.1 ich laptop
Not good desighn in particular the way how battery is placed.
No IEEE-1394 port for connecting the DV-Camera

Positives

Nice Performance - 4
Fingerprint reader works on 5
Remote Control is nice feature if plugin laptop to TV

Great, especially for students 2008-09-19
Pros:
for a tablet it's cheap
lots of memory
fast
makes school work easier

Cons:
a little thick
can get hot if your on high performance power setting
heat vent is aimed at you in tablet mode

I'm a college student and I've been using this to take notes in class and i love it. it has actually helped my grades and makes studying easier and faster. This not for gamers and if you like walking around holding your notebook as you use it then it's not for you. But if your smart and you realize that you remember things better when you write them down and want the added ability to back up all of your school work instantly then this is for you. It does have some faults but if your not very nitpicky about your computers like most of the people who wrote reviews on this then get it!

Defective motherboards 2008-08-03
The HP PC's are TRASH in my opinion. I bought the DV6226US in March 2007, and my System Board fried just 7-1/2 months later. They replaced it, and 8 months later if fried again - and HP wouldn't cover it. With the excessive heat no wonder! A system board crashing is rare but 2 boards in 16 months is nothing but defective product - pure and simple. DONT BUY THIS PRODUCT

just ok 2008-07-19
The holder for the light pen broke on the first day. It only let the pen be inserted part of the way so it would stick out over 1 inch. Calling the HP service number was of little help because they wanted me to send the computer back to them for service which would take at least 2 weeks. So I decided just to live with the pen sticking half way out of the holder. Other than that the computer is ok but the monitor is small and windows vista slows it down.

Watch out for the memory!!! 2008-06-28

Wish i had read this before i bought it.... 2008-06-26
This computer is really slow... My 2.0 ghz run a lot faster...

For some reason I can not use wireless to conect, and when i can is a an extremely slow speed! After contacting HP service for over 2 hours is still the same...

Due to the high requirements of windows vista, the computer video is really slow, and often crashes.

I wish i didnt buy this computer...

Greal laptop, but some tiny things could be better... 2008-05-30
Just got mine about 5 hours ago and love the look and feel of the machine... Vista is just horrible but that can be fixed with a downgrade. My one 'problem' with the design is the battery which kinda sticks out the back making the laptop difficult to handle other than from the front and sides.

One more small detail that bugs me is that the spring loaded slot for the stylus broke almost instantly and now it is very difficult to remove and re-enter... I dunno I guess it's no big loss but it still bothers me that something broke right away.

Overall a great little machine though, I'll update once I've installed some games and programs on it.

Update (5 days after arrival):
I ended up setting it up as a dual-boot machine with both XP and Vista and I have to say I'm VERY happy with the results, XP runs much smoother and faster but Vista still has some options I like so it's the best of both worlds. Vista runs autocad and solid works very smoothly and the games I've tried so far have all worked great at mid to max settings.

After reading some of the other comments about this laptop I have to say the screen is not that blurry (I don't notice anyways)... of course the texture is different because it IS a touch screen after all. Seriously this laptop runs cool and silent compared to all other laptops I've owned and even after being on all day... I wouldn't use it in bed or anything since the bottom vents need to be clear but who uses a laptop in bed that much anyways?

Pleasure 2008-05-28
I thinked a lot before purchasing a Laptop, it took me 2 months reviews and finally I decided for this one.
Everything in this Laptop is perfect, yes it heats little more than my previous but it is fast and it doesnt create any problems on whatever you do in it, like playing, my brother does that a lot but doesnt effect on it. i loaded the hard drive to maximum and it still performed fast. I waited two months to create a review and i tried everything in him.
it came up that its tuff to,:)

The only minor problem it have is:
In the begining when you install updates the cam will not work properly,
but you cam fix it in 2 min at device manager.

Have fun, :)

Great Laptop, Great Price, Wonderfull Performance 2008-05-18
Amazon service as always: excellent and beyond.
About the tx1410us,
Pros: light, small and fast. A cool looking laptop with tablet pc features that you won't find at this price.
Cons: a lot of unnecessary HP software (that can be removed). It gets pretty hot after running for a while (especially on the top right corner).
