Great dvd

This cartoon is a great revamp of the classic he man cartoons. The best thing about this version of he man is that we actually see Adam being told why he needs to become he man and what is so special about castle grayskull. Some Masters and villians have origin stories which to my knowledge has never been done before. All in all this is a great cartoon series.
The best cartoon ever made!

A big fan of the whole series. You can't go wrong with this one, besides you own one you gotta own them all.
I could not believe me eyes

First, 4 stars because of the problem in disc 1 (courage of adam), that you have to ask for a replacement (visit he-man.org or scroll down to the review that has the address for the new disc). I got the replacement disc, extra cards so it was a plus.
I got to see only a few episodes of season 1 on cartoon network latin america, some how something was missing. I watched a few but disliked it, as a result I stopped watching alltogether.
When this set came out, a voice in the back of my head told me to get it. Trust me I am a fan. I got the original four DVD sets, plus POP 3 sets, I do not care for the new adventures series when the price drops really low I may get both sets. With all this in mind, I got this volumen and was HOOKED.
The stories are EXCELLENT, they catered to today's audience but the essence of the original series is there. The first three episodes chronicle how adam gets the sword, never done before. In the original, we knew he got it on his 18th B-Bay.
The re concept of the characters is algo GREAT. You see now a clear difference between Adam and He-Man, something you did not see in the original.
The quality is OUTSTANDING... I had the pleasure to see it on my brand new plasma, and it was an experience out of this world.
I think that watching it on a regular TV, spanish track killed the mood all those years ago. Now I am back, and Recommend this to all of you.
Get Volume 1 and 2 together and be ready to HAVE THE POWER.
Episode Error?

One thing I have noticed is in the episode "Courage of Adam" on Disc 1, at about the 15 min mark there seems to be an entire section the episode missing.
The episode shows Cringer trying to give Adam, who was imprisoned, his sword back then he gets chanced away, and the episode fades away and the next scene shows the Masters and Adam outside and free. It never showed the Master's arriving and Adam escaping. At first I thought it to be from another episode but Cringer was still wearing the harness to carry Adam's sword.
I am not sure if this was an editing error or a bad copy on a disc. For now I am throwing it up to an editing error, hence the reason for the low score. They should have put more car into making sure everything gets on the disc.
Besides the little issue with that episode, this series I enjoy, and I like it a lot.
**EDITED TO CORRECT A TYPO, I meant to say section (read the comment) but I said second.
Better animation - a cartoon that grew up with the audience

Much better than the original series or even the cartoon series that came out in the 90's. I suspect that the cartoon did not do as well because of marketing and because the target audience (kids) simply weren't into the subject matter or the toys (he-man came about because of the Conan craze of the early 80's. And today, you don't see that catalyse in our culture). The plot and story-line are much more adult as well - which might also have been a factor since the appeal of these cartoons tends to be the more adult and older teen crowds as opposed to the toys who's markets were targeted to a younger crowd.
And unlike Justice League, this series is perhaps blessed in that the the hubris and self bravado of the batman series did not preceed this cartoon, making the story line higher quality (animators and writers tend to get full of themselves when given too much of a pat on the back - sad to say - which tends to slightly ruin future series. Something that plagued the Justice League series).
It is somewhat of a disappointment that the 3rd season did not come about. I suspect the major buyer audience for this cartoon series are the same as that of the Batman/Justice league series (the 20-30 year olds for the most part that grew up with those cartoons when they were kids).
over all a good product

This was a revival of the classic 80's cartoon He-man and the Masters of the Universe for the modern age, it focused on the early adventures of Prince Adam, who, having just become Eternia's most powerful guardian He-Man, had to learn how to handle his new powers, and lead his allies into battle against the evil Skeletor. With the aid of his own Evil Warrior henchmen, Skeletor schemes to blanket Eternia in chaos, and rule over the planet in dominion. Only He-Man, guided and advised by the Sorceress of Castle Grayskull, stands in his way.
With the aid of his trusted friends and Masters, he vows to end Skeletor's evil and the other evils that plague Eternia. The battle is joined as Good and Evil collide in a fight for Eternia's fate!
This unique take on the retro fan favorite delighted and entertained the children of this decade as it did to those living in the 80's.
Great package, shame they didn't continue the series

After recording this off cartoon network, it was great to get it on a properly recorded legitimate commercial DVD, without all the toonami adverts etc, and in better quality and widescreen. The packaging is visually pleasing and of good quality. I will definately collect all 3 volumes.
If you loved the originals...

you'll love this. He-Man is brought to a whole new level. My boyfriend is a fan since the beginning and loved when I bought him this.
It's great! There's just one thing.....

I loved the 2002 He-man series a lot better than the 80's one. It had better action, animation and dialouge. This is a must for any action fan. There's just one thing to complain about. A good third of the episode "the Courage of Adam" was cut out, for some reason. Anyone else have this problem?
Great interpretation of a classic!

I'm a big fan of the original He-Man and She-Ra shows. When I heard Cartoon Network was doing a remake of He-Man, I was very skeptical. Especially after that "New Adventures of He-Man" series. It was just TOO different from the original. I never felt connected to it and I hated the design. When I finally caught an episode of this series, I was happily surprised. This new series is very well done, and it's a shame it didn't get more seasons!
I think the animation is better than the original. Skeletor now looks like a scary villain, instead of a bumbling nemesis, and He-Man actually looks powerful. I think it's an edgier style of art, that is more in the line with the Batman Animated series and other more recent animated shows without straying into anime-land. I also appreciated the update of the characters as well. I know they weren't supposed to suspect Adam was He-Man, but the foppish boy from the original was too over the top. I like this spoiled prince better. And it's nice to see Teela as an active member of the guard instead of always whining, "wait for me" and chasing after the men. The original series was aimed at young boys. This series is aimed at adult animated fans. Though the stories aren't as good as the original (partly because I carry a lot of nostalgia for them), they aren't silly either. A lot of action seems to be the theme.
Unfortunately, I only managed to see a few episodes on tv since networks are notorious for moving animated shows around with no rhyme or reason. I gave up trying to find X-Men Evolution. When I saw this DVD set, I immediately pre-ordered it. It has the same high quality the original series sets have, with lots of artwork, great extras and a visually stunning package. Die-hard fans of He-Man will surely love this, even purists may find it worthwhile, and the rest of can just enjoy it for what it is - a good adventure. I only wish they had remade She-Ra as well. I'd love to see that with an edge.
