Compaq Presario F755US 15.4" Laptop

The price was great. It is fast. I bought it as a gift for my parents. They love it!!!
Great Value

I bought this notebook for my brother's girlfriend but I used it for a time and I can say that it's a excellent product for the price you're paying.
It has the same design as the HP ones except for the multimedia controls and the camera.
It looks good, it's not too haevy and not too big.
It's a great notebook.

I've had it for more than a month, and it's been pretty functional, the mouse pad and keyboard are really soft. Image quality is great, processor's temperature is fine, i'd say 2 thumbs up! for this computer and the price.
Excellent for the $$$

I had written a lengthy write-up on this laptop, but the big A never posted it. I had detailed what I did to get the best performance from this machine. Anyhow, long story short, this laptop runs Vista just fine on 1G, but you have to do a lot of tweaking and tuning.
Disable the Vista Aero (unless you get 2G RAM).
The bloatware is a mess on this laptop (as with most PC's these days). Remove all the bloatware (inc. Norton and get a free antivirus like Avast or AVG).
If you are comfortable with editing the registry, there are tons of apps which run on startup. A lot of these are Compaq programs which keep the laptop updated with their latest software.
Like I said, I detailed everything I did but I don't have it in me to type all that again. Anyhow, afterwards, this laptop performed very well on 1G. Very easily as fast as XP.
Good base model laptop from Compaq

I actually looked for a laptop running a AMD CPU. I was really trying to support AMD rather then Intel. I am quite happy with the F750us. Except for the fact that Compaq/HP put so much preview software and load their own diagnostic and redundent help tools that the OS already has. But, I guess some rookie computer user's will find it useful? I find battery life pretty decent at about 3 to 3 1/4 hours with wifi on. I find Vista Premium the right version for this laptop.I also find that when adding RAM to 2GB it makes the computer perform much better! This is by far a good buy for the money! After you get rid of the bloatware!
excelent

Compaq Presario F755US 15.4" Laptop (AMD Turion 64 X 2 Dual Core TL-58 Processor, 2 GB RAM, 160 GB Hard Drive, Vista Premium). Excelent and very good price
excellent computer

Looked at all reviews before purchasing. For me personally, this was an excellent choice for the price. The computer boots relatively fast, works well for the 1gig memory installed. The only draw back is a lot of the installed programs on Vista are trialware. This sucks as you have to buy the key at the end of the trial which pretty much negates the savings on the PC. Will probably uninstall and install the programs from my other pc.
The W\ Less networking was also easy to set up with Vista. All in all I wa s pretty pleased with the purchase and would recommend this product for any future buyers.
NOISE PROBLEM
2008-04-13
This is an OK notebook for the price, but mine developed an annoying buzzing noise after a week of light use (maybe a problem with the CPU fan). The noise now exists whenever it is turned on an is loud enough to get "shush" glances from people in the library. COMPAQ support was initially evasive and in denial, but eventually agreed to accept for repair. Otherwise, has been a good performer - I got rid of Norton and other bloatware. Excellent screen, OK battery life. Hopefully noise problem will be repaired.
Great Laptop for Price!

Excellent Laptop for the price (buy it for $600), Vista runs very smooth with 2GB ram, I'm a university professor and this 15" laptop full all my expectative. Some says that battery empty quickly, but Hp put power profiles in it, for a better performance and use needs. When I check email or browse the web use the power saver profile and when I'm gaming, use the high performance profile.
PROS: 2Gb de RAM, good graphics, Light Scribe® technology
CONS: glossy screen, heavy for travelers.
Compaq Presario Okay BUT HP Customer Service TERRIBLE!!!
2008-04-10
If I had this to do over again, I would not puchase this computer. I am having a problem with the MS Word Processing program, and HP customer service reps are not trying to solve the problem. The spell check does not work on ms word. I have exchanged several emails with HP customer service, and they wanted me to unistall, reinstall, and even restore factory settings. I tried to uninstall and reinstall the program, but it did not fix the problem. HP customer service told me that a "case mangager" would call me as soon as possible; that was over a week ago. I am completely disgruntled with HP customer service because no one is trying to help me fix the problem.
