LaCie USB Hubtastic
2008-08-27
This is a truly unique product, I was a bit upset by the excessive cost to ship to the UK, but that was all forgotten when I recieved it. The only thing which lets this product down is the fact that it is not supplied with a base, why? other than that it will grace any office/home & looks fntastic.
Interesting art, but...
2008-03-11
I was attracted to the LaCie USB hub, but I find it interesting art, but not very practical. Although it could be great, it isn't. My two issues with the product are: 1) there is no stand and 2) the power cord and connecting USB line come out of the top. No stand: all pictures of the hub show it standing upright in a very artistic way. However, the bulb part of the hub is completely round and there is no enclosed stand. So, essentially the hub lies on its side, looking like a bundle of white flowers laying on a table. It dramatically (negatively) impacts that artistic component of the device. It just lays there. As to the power cord and USB line, it also comes out the top where the other cables do. This relates to my original objection that the device doesn't (can't) stand up, but just lays down. So rather than a tidy piece of art that serves as a connection hub, you have something that takes up a lot of desk space and looks messy. I am disappointed, unfortunately.
