Editorial Review
The Petzl Tikka XP is a great full featured ultra-light headlamp for kids of all ages.  The adjustable headband fits all kids (Parents too!). This headlamp is one of the best ultra-light and compact headlamps on the market.  It is a powerful 1 LED headlamp with 3 lighting levels and Boost mode.

The Boys/Men love them 2008-01-10
I purchased 4 of these for stocking stuffers. Christmas morning all 4 men (ages 25 -63) put them on immediately. I wish I had taken a picture - all in pajamas and wearing their headlamps. Since then, my husband has thanked me many times. He uses his while walking the dogs at night and working on a project in his workshop, fixing the lawnmower etc. I wish I had thought of getting these sooner. The light is very bright and the batteries have lasted well so far.

Quality multi-purpose product 2008-01-08
I purchased this headlamp when my 9 year old wanted a book light. It works fabulous for that purpose & more. You don't have to re-position the lamp when turning pages. She can use it indoors or out for bird watching, camping, hiking or reading. It is a quality product that she will utilize for years to come.

Just wanted to add my vote 2007-12-14
A lot has been said already. It works great. Batteries last quite a while for my use anyway. Perfect for hands free. Not heavy. I use it during power outages, camping, reading, working on things when there isn't enough light. I actually use it quite a bit.

By one for you and it makes a great gift 2007-11-14
I live in the boonies and this thing is great for finding firewood at night or taking the trash out to the road on trash night. I've had other Petzl headlamps before (lost it) and this one is a big improvement. The narrow beam gives a long distance illumination and the wide beam easily covers any close in space. Those features are new and worth the upgrade price. Get one for you and keep a few around for when you don't know what to get someone for a gift. It makes a great gift because everyone needs one. Even folks who rarely use a flashlight will appreciate the fact that, due to long battery life and led bulbs, this light will always work, even if it has been left in a drawer for a year.

Hiking - backpacking - camping & more - very useful 2007-11-11
I have owned many Petzl headlamps, but this one is by far the best I have owned & used. Three easily found AAA batteries power this "lite" (weighs only 95g [3.35oz] including the batteries!) light and there is a nifty Green Orange Red indicator light on the side to help you determine how much battery life is left. New/fresh batteries & the indicator blinks green. After about 70% used/discharged the indicator turns orange. Finally, Red when 90% used and they need to be replaced. As an additional alert, the headlamp's beam will blink momentarily when the indicator changes color. Speaking of batteries, I checked out Petzl USA Homepage and there is now a warning not to use Lithium batteries (especially their higher output during discharge) because they may cause the lamp to overheat and possibly damage the LEDs. There is a very functional light diffuser that allows the light to be spread; perfect for walking at night through the woods with a full pack on, or with the diffuser moved to the side, a pin point beam can be directed where you need the brightest of lighting. Battery life for the 3 lighting levels: maximum [60 hours], optimum [80 hours], economic, [120 hours] Water resistant for all-weather use. Buy this headlamp & you will not be disappointed.

I'm surprised at the brighness 2008-06-16
For a headlamp--first that I've owned, it feels solid and bright. Just thought of buying something I need to use once in a while while working on bikes and cars, but it should be useful for just about anything like walking at night. The headband is quite sturdy feeling and solid constructions. No complaints.

This is a great headlamp 2008-06-15
These headlamps are really worth the $$ if you use flashlights a lot. It is really convenient to have a hands-free flashlight, something you don't really realize until you use one of these things. We use ours as reading lights when we are camping. This particular model has three brightness settings, which is perfect: Go all the way dim when you are reading, and all the way bright when you have to get up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night. The lamp portion has a tilt down feature as well, which your friends will appreciate if you accidentally look at them while it is on (the light is blinding but only if you look at it straight on). It also has a strobe for emergencies. Battery lasts a long time, and the head strap is so comfortable, you barely notice it is on.

great for dogs too 2008-02-27
I bought two of these for my husband and I to use while walking our goldens. But really, the best use so far has been to put one around the neck on each dog at night and we know exactly where they are when walking the beach and neighborhood. Our neighbors love it too... quite a sight coming down the road.

Phenomenal! 2008-02-03
What can I say that hasn't been said already? I have the Petzl tikka plus (which I really like) but I have to say the XP is head and shoulders above even that outstanding unit. REALLY bright with the high setting and blinding with the boost mode. Great diffuser, high quality construction, nice tilt mechanism. Useful for so many things (i even used mine to paint a dimly-lit area of my apartment!) Hard to believe we used to lug around 3 D-cell maglights...

Guys love it! 2008-01-18
I have purchased this lamp as a present for my boyfriend, and he really likes it. The functionality is good and the design looks very stylish too.
