The PedEgg..eh, not bad but not great either...
2008-06-26
I bought this product at my local Walgreens after a girlfriend said she loved hers. My feet are a bit dry, not bad at all, but a bit rough on the heels and balls of my feet, so I thought why not. I tried it out after a bath that night, and while it worked ok, my old foot file (looks like a microplane grater) worked just as well (if not better) for only $1.59 compared to the $10 for the egg...I didn't have a problem with mess, I knew to keep the egg upright, and it wasn't difficult for me to get the top off to empty it.
Overall, it was not what I'd call a failed product, but I won't be recommending it or buying it as a gift for anyone...

I've had problems with thick calluses and cracking skin on my heels and big toe for a long time. I've tried pumice stones, files, and scrubs with little effect for a lot of effort. I was skeptical about the Ped Egg, but I gave it a try and it worked amazingly well for me!
It looks like a little microplane grater for your feet. I like the way it's made to cup in your hand while you're using it, and that it has a little base/cover to keep the blade safe in a drawer.
With very light pressure moving back and forth, it devoured my calluses in record time. Be sure to use on dry skin as directed, and don't try to muscle it too much. I highly recommend lotion and socks after using it to moisturize the newly liberated skin.
It catches most of the shavings, unless you turn it over. I did my feet over the sink so it wasn't a problem for me. I don't think of a pedicure as an 'anywhere' task, so I don't really see the loose shavings as a problem. If you hold it by the sides and pry the blade part out from the top then it's fairly easy to empty. The emery file that sticks to the bottom might be a nice touch, but I don't foresee using it. I don't know yet how long the blade will be effective, but it has worked so well that I'll spring for the replacement blades without a murmur.
One "As Seen on TV" product that is completely LEGITIMATE... WOW!

I am a guy who wears sandals a lot. My feet are thus prone to drying out and cracking. So, I used to use a traditional heel file with metal dimples and an emery board. I've been wanting to try the Ped Egg but as with most "Order now!" commercials, you never can be really sure if it's going to be a good product or complete suck. So I bought a Ped Egg and waited a few weeks for my heels to get good and solid/calloused, with lots of deep cracks and other grossness that goes with unkempt sandal heels.
With the Ped Egg, I got my heels done in about two minutes. About sixty-seconds per foot. Heels soft, callouses gone, no irritation or soreness. Absolutely brilliant! With my old method, it would take at least an hour to get these kinds of results.
This is an unbelievably good product!
a miracle!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been putting up with calloused heels and toes for so many years. I was ashamed of my feet and nothing worked. I even thought about going to a foot doctor for help. I spent loads on pedicures and NEVER did I get results like I did with the ped egg! I purchased mine from Wal Mart for ten dollars and on the first try with it my feet are as smooth as they were when I was a teenager and I am 39 year old now! I feel so much better about myself and I will never have another expensive pedicure again. I went right back to the store and purchased two more for my mother and sister. Not only is this a miracle cure for those nasty calloused feet, but it is also one of the best gifts you can ever give a girl. I had to say something about this product because for once I have found a product that exceeds my expectations! To whoever invented the ped egg.....I wish I could kiss you! You are an angel!
Really Works!

I'm extremely particular about how my feet look -- in fact, my friends and family tease me, because I'm obsessed with keeping them soft and "cute." So, when I saw the Ped Egg advertised on television, I was intrigued... yet skeptical. However, after seeing glowing reviews of the product online from various objective sources, I decided to give it a try -- and, wow, am I glad I did.
In the name of full disclosure, my feet were in good shape before I started using the Ped Egg; that said, the Ped Egg has made them much easier to maintain and the silky smoothness of my heels lasts longer, because the calluses and dead skin have actually been removed, as opposed to just moisturized. Now, instead of showing signs of roughness at the end of the day, they stay looking as though I've just had a fresh pedicure.
Some may argue that similar results could be gained from using a pumice stone -- but those have to be used in the shower or bath, whereas the Ped Egg can be used anytime and anywhere you want.
As promised, the PE is safe to the touch, like a dull cheese grater. Somehow, it does the trick, anyway. And thanks to the ingenious design, shavings really are contained within the Egg.
My suggestion for getting the most out of this product, is to follow its use with some shea butter and a pair of thick socks. Before you know it, your feet will be ready to greet the world. :)
HIGHLY recommended.
does what is suppose to.

This product is great for taking off dead skin & callous from feet but don't over do it! Your feet will be sore the next day. I suggest you soak your feet first, then use the ped-egg, smooth over with a pumice stone & then cream. You feet will be "Summer" ready!
The product is similar to a mini cheese grater. The shape makes it easy to use. The only negative thing I can think of is that it is often difficult to open.
HORRIBLE PRODUCT/RESULTS!

I had looked into this product before buying it and am really disappointed. I have dry/cracked feet and thought using this product would make my feet smooth, when it fact it made things worse. It wasn't until 2 days later that I looked at my feet and was shocked. Parts of my feet had different layers of skin and the top part of the bottom of my foot was kind of red. Everyone is saying it's such a good product, but it ended up hurting my feet. I had to walk around bare foot because it hurt to wear socks and touch the sore spots. I will no longer use this product in the future. For those of you who want to try it, you should definately only use it on a certain area first and wait to see the results in a few days. Sure when I used it there was a lot of dead skin taken off, but it didn't help my feet any. If I could go back I would have never bought it and I would rather go to the salon to get a pedicure. Beware of this product!

I was disappointed when I finally used this product. Perhaps my feet aren't bad enough to have really made a difference but it worked okay at best. It's not much better than the foot exfoliators you can buy at any CVS and it certainly did not "trap" all the filings as most of them ended up on my floor. It takes a long time to really scrape off all the dead skin and I don't actually have tough calluses, just heels that no longer felt smooth. When I did begin to finally see newer skin my heels were quite pink. I really wanted to like this product but I will continue in my search to give myself a great home pedicure. I guess it's worth ten bucks but certainly no rave reviews.
