Great, But Not for Me 2008-07-16
A wise man once said that he who holds the remote controls the world. Well when you have five remotes per room the shared power really ruins that. I was anxious to condense all my remotes into one uber-remote. This remote does just that. The only problem is that the controls are not that intrinsic, you shouldn't have to look at a remote to tell which button to press after only a couple uses. Plus this remote just doesn't sit in the hand as comfortably as smaller ones. After a couple weeks I pulled out the other remotes as my cable box remote controlled the TV and VCR's much better and I just had to deal with the extra DVD and audio remotes lying around and shipped this remote into my secondary room where I could use it with my iHome. $250 for an iHome remote just isn't worth it for me.

Great Capabilities with some Setup Issues 2008-07-16
First off, I have an older model Harmony remote I use as well and the general design and functions of this model is the best I've seen in a universal remote so far. I love the touch screen and the programmable functions of the remote. I have a TV that needs to go through a fairly complex sequence of commands to switch from internal speakers to using my stereo system. I was able to program this sequence very easily once I figured out how to customize the startup sequence.

The bad: You have to know the exact model number of each device you wish to control as it is stored in the Logitech database. The problem is that they give you no way to find out what model numbers are actually in their database. One problem I had was with a Panasonic DVD recorder I have. It has a model number on the base plate and owners manual... and even on the Panasonic site. However, for some reason, in the Logitech database you have to follow the model number with a "S" to get it to recognize that component. I read about that in a help web site. I was lucky to find it. The other problem is that customizing the command window can be tricky. You have to know the cryptic name of the command you want programmed... and it is not always obvious what the command really will do. I also found a lot of commands for various devices that did nothing. I'm not sure exactly why they are in the database when you have to be so specific for the model number.

The good: Very easy to add commands from the original remote. This is probably the easiest way to get the commands not correct in the original setup working. Once I figured out how to use the setup program they have, I was able to customize everything I wanted. This is a very powerful and capable remote. I highly recommend it to get rid of the remote clutter. Once my wife learned how to use it, she loves it as well.

Logitech Harmony One Advanced Universal Remote Is Great! 2008-07-16
I found the Logitech Harmony One to be everything advertised. I read reviews in a number of locations including PC World before ordering. Programming the device was extremely easy. Test driving it after initial set up allowed me to pinpoint further refinements to the programming that I needed to make and to make those changes easily. The Help button on the remote also helps iron out any remaining incompatibilities. I have not had to use the on-line/telephonic help functions but they sound very supportive. This is one electronic product that truly lived up to the hype.

Better than the 880 2008-07-16
This remote is great because it's easy to hold, the help and activity options are more user friendly than past Logitech remotes and most importantly the charging base makes a good connection w/the remote (we had an issue w/connectivity w/the 880). It would be helpful if the charging base was vertical as opposed to laying flat (takes up some space) and it is easy to "fat finger" the touch screen.

Good remote, has some issues with pointing at components 2008-07-15
This is a great remote, a bit expensive and they need to make these things RF with a key code or something. The requirement to continuiously point this at all the components while it cycles through the different IR commands is a bit tedious for the people who get this for their elderly parents to reduce the phone calls of how to get the DVD player working. But having the components be RF with a key code or identifier would help this.

Harmony One a Winner! 2008-07-19
This is by far the best remote availacle on the market for the price! I had the Harmony 659 and 880, they were good. They new Harmony One just made a good remote control great! Very easy to set up and use with my Tivo and all my other devices. I have one con, it doesn't have Bluetooth or RF control, otherwise you can't go wrong with this!

Logitech Harmony One 2008-07-19
Finally got the Logitech remote that has the buttons separated for larger fingers. Had the 880 previously, liked how it functioned but did not like the too-streamlined design with the smaller and hard-to-accurately press the buttons. Am happy with the Harmony One. Logitech did the right things. Ordering with Amazon was easy and quick. Delivery was also quick. Good product and good service.

A Simple and Well Rounded Universal Remote 2008-07-18
This remote is easy to setup. It replaces the existing remotes' basic functions with a quick setup process: less than 15 minutes. It is customizable: by either adding stored button settings to the LCD screen and by learning commands from the existing remote.

As the default, this remote will use settings from Logitech Harmony remote database. You need to have an account to access the setting database.

Battery charge lasts about a week with moderate use.

I used Philips Pronto TS series before. One thing I like about Harmony One, that Pronto did not have, is the Help feature. You can fix interrupted macro. Selecting an activities: watch DVD, watch TV, etc, might not turn on the correct devices or turn off the incorrect device. Before, I had to manually turn on/off the device. With the Help feature, Harmony One will synchronize your devices state (power and source) with the device states on the remote.

It is a user friendly remote for both techy or non-techy.

Harmony One 2008-07-17
First of all we like it and don't miss the other remotes. However it took
a little longer than they said it would to set up. And another thing is it
seems to have lost some conections. It doesn't turn everything on at once
like it first did. I have to go through the help mode and then it turns everything on. I guess I have to do some trouble shooting.

So Easy A Caveman Could Use It 2008-07-17
This is my second Harmony remote, the first is a 550 model, but let's face it this one blows that one out of the water. The case is slick and fits well in the adult hand (left or right). The software installs painlessly and configures the simple task/activities without a hitch. The remote uses rechargeable batteries and has a nice little cradle to sleep in while it recharges the batteries.

I have setup a number of activities on mine: 1) watch TV (this includes a digital cable box, LCD HD TV and a stereo system for sound, 2) listen to CD (stereo only), 3) play games (Wii system, LCD HD TV and the stereo system), 4) play digital music (stereo system with an iPod connected). All, except the last, required little more than inputting the device models and selecting the appropriate configurations like input for the TV, mode for the stereo and what controls the volume/sound. The last task required a little creativity as the software did not seem to have a full understanding of the capabilities of the stereo system (it understood most of the functionality, just not the iPod control capability), but I was able to work around it.

The only complaint I have is that when you select an activity the remote must remain pointed at the devices while they turn on (and thee seems to be a programmed delay between turning on the devices). That delay may be addressable in some of the advances settings that I have not yet explored, but I have not yet dug that deeply. On a related note once the devices get out of synch with the expected configuration, you need to go to device control on the remote to get it back into synch.

All in all, the dive is easy to program and use. The displays and controls on the unit are easily understood. This is by far the best universal remote I have used to date. P-)
