Logitech MX5500 Worth the Money 2008-08-31
Great keyboard and mouse, worth every penny, but did get it cheaper on Amazon with free shipping. Charging station for mouse is a big plus. Still haven't had time to play with all the features on the keyboard but am sure I will like it even better when I get a chance. Installation was a breeze.

Works Great 2008-08-18
Arrived within 5 days and worked straight out of the box. The mouse is very comfortable and the smooth and hard scrolling is very useful for scrolling through web pages very fast. The LCD is not back lit but is got a built in Calculator and counts your keys pressed with some other useful features.
Overall good product

Pricey - But Good 2008-07-31
Although the keyboard & mouse combo is a bit pricey, the look, feel and performance are everything I have come to expect from Logitech. Performance is superior to that of comparable offerings from MS.

MX5500 is a God Send 2008-06-16
I purchased this item in May 2008 and I can say that I have not had a stitch of problems with it. Like other people who have stated that they have problems with the Caps button, maybe those people are just bad typists, because unless you mistakenly hit the Caps button, it stays off unless you turn it on. I like the feature of it making a sound and coming on across the screen when you have activated the Caps in error. I have not programmed the buttons yet but I can tell you that I do not have Media Center and the button takes me to Windows Media. I am planning to program the shortcut buttons as soon as I have some free time. I love the fact that I can also use my MX5500 Wireless Mouse that I purchased last year with this keyboard; now I have a spare for when I run down the MX5500 that comes with the keyboard. And I did not have to install my spare's software to make it work; it works automatically with the Keyboard's software. I love the clock on the keyboard although it would be nice if it lit up. Hopefully Logitech will come up with a backlit keyboard that lights up and turns on when someone passes within so many feet of it.

I didn't let those people who sent in bad reviews deter me from purchasing this product. They expect perfect right out of the box. I have had no problems with this product or any Logitech product I have purchased through the years. I wish those "Sour Grapes" people would just send back their prchase and keep their mouths shut. Logitech puts out good products...if you don't like Logitech, then refrain from purchasing their products.

No stalling 2008-06-12
I had the MX 5000 and the mouse kept freezing up all the time. I could not go through a whole day without it happening at least once. And the power saver thing with the keyboard was just annoying. I got used to just hitting a key before starting to write, to sort of wake up the keyboard, BUT a lot of times it would just get stuck as if a key was being held down, and I would get something like this ttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt. VERY frustrating.

BUT, I have had NO problems with this one, the MX 5500 revolution. I love it. No stalling, no freezing, no double letters. Beautiful. :)

The one thing that I do miss from the 5000 is that you could see the temperature on the main screen on the display on the keyboard, the 5500 displays time and date. And it is also a little dark, I would have liked to have some backlight on it. But getting rid of that stupid mouse issue with the 5000 is worth almost anything...hehe

The 5500 mouse is also a little smaller. Maybe more normal size. The 5000 mouse was a little too big for my liking.

The only complaint I guess I have about the 5500 is the new smart scroll thing, where it switches between free scroll and clicking scroll. I hate it. But, you can customize it with the Set Point software and have the scroll behave the way you want it to.

So if you have, or have had the 5000, and want to buy the new one, but are wondering if the 5500 still has the mouse or keyboard issues, it does not, so buy it and get back to a properly functioning mouse again. :)

Great Keyboard/Range : Poor Mouse 2008-06-12
I purchased this item in the hopes I would no longer need a usb extension cable to bring my mouse/keyboard receiver close enough to me to get a signal. While the range on this item is great ( i could use the keyboard mouse from 20+ feet away ) I could not bring myself to keep such an expensive wireless combo when I was not happy with the mouse performance.
Regardless of how the settings were tweaked for mouse speed/sensitivity etc, the pointer would move around what I was tring to select in both games and with general internet use, making it fustrating to use the mouse for any extended period of time. Within a half hour of using the mouse and trying to find a setting that would suffice, I gave up and went back to my old mx 700 logitech mouse. In light of the poor performance of the mouse I'm returning the whole thing.
The keyboard overall is a very sleek well performing device. The only negative as other people have noted is poor lighting on the lcd panel negates the convenience of it (the lcd panel ) almost entirely.
