Great fun

this is a charming book, sure to enthrall the budding builder in your house, with sturdy cardboard tools and their correct counterpoint to engage with, I'd never seen anything like it before. I gave it as a gift to a four year old, so I'm not sure how well it held up in his hands, I enjoyed it though!

Excellent book for learning for children and entertaining. It is compact and very easy to have along traveling. Wish there were more books on the same order for varuious other things. Great Buy!!!
Great Book for Children

This is the cutest book ever, but I will say it's best suited for children over three. Bought it for a two-year old, and she tore it up trying to figure out how to use all the "tools".
Loved it

We got this as a gift for my son's second birthday. He loves it, and I am getting it for my goddaughter (5) because she and her sister (nearly 3) had fun with it when they visited. I can see how the cardboard tools could get ruined if a child bent them or ate them as toddlers are apt to do, but we supervise our son with books like this in an effort to teach him how to take care of them. He has a set of plastic tools to bang with. This is a book, made of cardboard so if you are looking for a very sturdy tool kit that will stand up to abuse by a plastic or wooden tool bench/box toy not a book.
A must have for every "little boy".

It teaches shapes and numbers. It also explains what each tool does and how it helps other tools. I can't say enough about this book. My son absolutely loves it!!!

Children love tools and love to build things. My Little Red Toolbox is Stephen T. Johnson's contribution to a safe way that children can learn about tools. He's created a wonderful educational combination of a toolbox and a book.
The book contains cardboard puzzle-like tools, bolts and screws that turn, an erasable slate, different shapes and a written explanation of each tool's purpose.
My Little Red Toolbox will provide children with hours of enjoyment and can be used along with an adult handling real tools. I predict that My Little Red Toolbox will also spawn numerous questions about how things work, as well as about colors, shapes and counting. The book is relatively sturdy but will not stand up under abuse (it's not meant to).
Armchair Interviews says: My Little Red Toolbox is a delightful toy/book that allows adults and children to interact while learning and having fun. Now this is a book that grandparents really will enjoy giving to and experiencing with their grandchildren.
Great Teaching Book

This is the first book a teacher needs to Teach the First Thirty Days of Readers Workshop. After I used it for a minilesson it quickly became a children's favorite request.
Keeps My 2 1/2 Busy for Hours

This came in a gift basket for my newborn son, but my 2 1/2 year-old daughter confiscated it, and she LOVES it! She's learned all about what different tools do, and it has cardboard tools / puzzle pieces that she can pull out and actually practice with. Also focuses on shapes and counting. We always have workers in our house, and my daughter loves knowing the types of tools that they are using. We have read it about 100 times, and it keeps her busy for long stretches of time. Love it!
Perfect and fun for boys and girls

Similar to the book "My Granny's Purse", this book is not for children who are rough with their things. However, if your child is apt to treat books as books (not tear pages or bend book backwards), this book is awesome and although it may not last more than 5 years or so, it is certainly worth it. I have two girls who have played with the book for years and I'm so glad I found the book by accident in a small bookstore. I would recommend the book for ages 3-7. By the way, after a little practice, my kids were able to take out the tools themselves (contrary to another reviewer's comments).
