Top-Shelf Magnet at Bathtub-Gin Prices

These are high-powered NdFeB magnets with a nice shiny nickel plating, at a stupendously low price. Definitely not for hanging things on the refrigerator, unless you want them hung permanently. Very nice, though, for the amateur scientist-hobbyist wanting to play with magnetic levitation and other such things. Watch your fingers!
These are very strong magnets 2008-09-12
These are probably stronger than you think unless you are familiar with large Neodymium magnets. I can hang two of these from fishing line and they will point north then from across the room (more then 10 feet) can get them to spin around by turning the other two back and froth. From 6 feet I can see the picture on my television get distorted.
I bought two sets of these 1" x 1" magnets, almost a week ago, just mess around with because I like magnets. These are a little more than what can be handled without hand protection unless you are okay with injuring yourself.
I brought two of them to work and not one of my co-workers could separate them. I can separate them using a couple of two-by-fours or by using the side of a sturdy table to help slide them apart but once they are apart they make me a little nervous.
It is very easy to hurt yourself or damage the magnets. I got a small pinch the first night, that is still visible, when I put one on the frig door. Then a couple of days later my wife wanted to hold the two of them separated to feel the attraction. I cautioned her and showed her how to hold them but in a momentary lapse she set them down too close to each other and the slammed together chipping both of them.
I wrapped both of the chipped magnets in electrical tape (I keep the other two in a separate room) and this has made them a little easier to work with because the tape provides a better grip and keeps them from coming completely flush with each other. I can now separate them by hand.
If you want to play with two really strong magnets I recommend the ¾" x ¼" size. I would wrap them in electrical tape and be very careful with them. These are not for children, don't even consider it.
