Editorial Review
With the Apple iPod touch, Apple has married the iPhone's revolutionary multi-touch interface to their popular digital media player. So instead of a Click Wheel, you just use your fingers to flick through your music, photos, and video. Two fingers can be used in a pinching or spreading motion as well, which zooms in and out of photos and web pages. That's right, the iPod touch is the first iPod to offer web access. It does this via built-in Wi-Fi support. There's even a special iTunes Wi-Fi Store, so you can browse and purchase new music and video while you're on the road. The latest iPod touch now offers a suite of new applications, including email, maps, and handy widgets for weather, notes, and stocks. The new iPod touch also features a customizable home screen that lets you rearrange buttons and create your own Web Clips. Ports - Dock Connector & Stereo Minijack Connects to a PC or Mac through USB (using the dock connector) 802.11b/g Wi-Fi Wireless / Safari web browser Charge Time - about 3 hours (1.5 hours fast charge to 80% capacity) Audio Support - AAC (16 to 320 Kbps), Protected AAC (from iTunes Store), MP3 (16 to 320 Kbps), MP3 VBR, Audible (formats 2, 3, & 4), Apple Lossless, WAV, & AIFF Photo Support - Syncs iPod-viewable photos in JPEG, BMP, GIF, TIFF, PSD (Mac only), and PNG formats Video Support - H.264 video, up to 1.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Low-Complexity version of the H.264 Baseline Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in. m4v,. mp4, and. mov file formats; H.264 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Baseline Profile up to Level 3.0 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in. m4v,. mp4, and. mov file formats; MPEG-4 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in. m4v,. mp4, and. mov file formats Unit Dimension

Nice PDA, poor MP3 player 2008-05-13
I bought the iPod touch as a replacement for a 3G iPod. While I find it to be a useful PDA for checking weather, browsing the web, keeping track of my calendar, and reading email, it is much worse as an MP3 player than the iPod:

1. For podcasts, it lacks the podcast description. You get the name, but Apple left out the description of what the show is about. For podcasts without descriptive names, this is a great loss.

2. There is no eyes-free operation when playing music. The screen locks up after a little while, after which you need to pick up the iPod touch and unlock it to access the controls. You can hit the menu button twice, but you still need to be looking at the ipod to see where the controls come up.

3. The ability to look at music horizontally or vertically means that many times it shows you the wrong thing. Not all the controls are visible in the cover-flow view, which seems to be the one that the iPod defaults to when you lay it down on a table.

4. No ability to rate songs as you listen. On older iPods, you could rate a song while you listened to it, but the iPod touch does not seem to have this ability.

Overall, the iPod touch feels like a PDA with limited MP3 and podcast playing capabilities, rather than the other way around.

Not Perfect BUT Highly Functional 2008-05-11
This is a product that sucessfully mixes form & function. The IPOD TOUCH looks great with it's minimalistic design, and it performs to or above your expectations. I am happy with my purchase, but here are some things that you might considering before making your own purchase.

PROs
- Looks good, Apple always make there products look good, clean, hip.
- Applications (Calender, notepad, browser, contacts, email, etc.) allow you to treat it like a PDA.
- The Safari Web Browser has better navigation than anything else out
(better than browsers on PSP or Archos PMP)and in my experience the load time is much better, too.
- Full Keyboard, with easy access to (numbers & symbols.) There is a short learning curve, but that is to be expected. As a bonus the Ipod touch does also have a spell check/suggestor.
- Maps(application)basically gives you a free "GPS"(If you can access some WiFi in you present location)

CONs
- Highly suseptible to scratches, get a case & a screen cover(s)
- No hold button - If you bump the power button while it is in your pocket it will likely turn on & juice the battery.
- Terrible Battery Life (I have to charge mine every night)

KNOCKs (would've been nice, but not a reason not to buy)
- For $300 you would think you would get a larger amount of memory.
- You can only see streamed videos at YouTube or Flash format.
- No zooming on your videos, but you can adjust wide screen/pan scan.
- A free video converter would've been awesome, but Apple wants you to buy Quicktime Pro. If you're happy paying for all your videos this isn't gonna be a problem. If you download most or all of your video content your gonna need a video converter, I got and highly recomend AVS Video Converter it converts ANY FILE to be acessible to ANY DEVICE.
- It would've been nice to have an internal speaker, but we all knew it didn't have one when we bought em.

AS ALWAYS , APPLE NUMBER ONE but, plase breake jail 2008-05-10
HI there, i got ipod touch 8 gb and have been trying it for 2 weeks already, WOW this is fantastic, if you are planning to buy one of this babies, go for, and the first thing you want to do is brake the jail, then you will see the real thing, hundreds of features video games like mario, super mario 1 2 3, etc etc,, the youtube feature is amazing actully if you brake the jail there is an aplication called mxtube that downsload the videos directly from youtube and it's preatty fast by the way, it download a 25 mb video in about 2 min, i have comcast internet 6.0 and my router is not really good, so you will enjoy tons of videos for free, also, maps, weather and email are one of the good things when breaking the jail without having to buy that pack from aple for 20 bucks, brakingjail takes less than one minute to complete. Zafari works pratty good and you can get signal for free every where. this thing is a preatty good organizer, better than a regular previous ipod and the 3.5 inches screen is amazing, do not set this one every where couse back will begin to scratch

Bad things,,, istallation was a real pain and took me about 4 hous to make it work with windows xp, my pc did not recognize it and had to reistall tunes 5 times,

Battery is not as good as they promissed, surfing online drains battery in less than 3 hours, watching videos and listening music takes less than 4 hours for battery to die, i dont know why they said it lasts 22 hours, or may be mine is no good

The feature that locks itoch every certain time is no good to me, couse every minute you have to be sliding your finger on screen to unlock it if you want to change song or video, if you set it to lock itself every 5 minutes it will drain battery faster since it has to be with light on for 5 min.

Screen is a mess after the first 2 min of use
Back scratches very easy

Some times it freezes up just like a regular computer and you have to restart it.

I hope this was usefull, if you have any question email me to pepelily@hotmail.com i cant continue this review couse my english still sucks.

Ipod Touch 2008-05-10
Though shipping was slow due to international shipping, the process was easy and quick. Hardest part was to wait for it, but it was moderately priced and was I was looking for. I got what I wanted.

Best buy I had in a long time 2008-05-09
I bought an 16GB ipod touch after take a deep look at my friends one. 16GB of memory and just a tad bigger video screen wasn't so appealing at first glance, however when I made more research and watch how the safari web browser worked, the wifi connectivity and a cool handy virtual keyboard, I decided that I needed to get one of these ASAP, the price dropped when the 32GB was launched so I bit the bullet and placed the order on amazon.

Since it arrived 2 weeks ago I take it with me everywhere, I don't even take my laptop to the college anymore, this is all I need to take notes, check my email, stay online on msn, watch some vids on youtube and surf the web for any required information.

After the mandatory jailbreak you start to see the ipod touch as something pretty useful, I installed wikipedia, mxtube, iphysics, translation dictionarys and some games to keep myself entertained everywhere I go.

The wireless works pretty good, the GUI is impressive, keyboard is a big small but it's possible to get used to it and be able to type very quick with no mistakes.

The ipod touch has gone beyond any of my expectations, all my friends want to buy one after see what is this little gadget is capable of.

The downsides I noticed are minor stuff, however I'll mencion them anyway: there is no copy paste command on safary, safary stops the browsing if there is any flash video, the chromed back can be scratched very easy, I only use it for 5 minuted and already had some parts with some deep tracks, so you might want to consider a best skins ever full body skin.

I recommend this item very much

iPod touch 2008-04-28
I love the iPod touch. I first bought one for my husband and quickly realized that I wanted one for myself. It has met or exceeded all my expectations. I even allow my 6yr old to watch movies and she loves it. Great product.

Beautiful & Elegant 2008-04-28
Lots of MP3 Players out there, but none is so elegant and easy to operate as the Apple.
Give credit where credit is due--Although much smaller than Microsoft, Apple computers and Ipods are selling well because of the value offered.
Try one at a local store--you will probably love it...

GREAT TOY!! 2008-04-28
Awesome birthday present!! The only con in the iPod touch is that the Wifi is limited to places that have Wifi... meaning, you can't use the cool GPS tool on the road! Oh well! And of course, it's overpriced! But still a great toy to have and lots of fun!

Great product & great price from Amazon 2008-04-27
This product is wonderful. I can't believe how many things you can do with it. It has the internet but I haven't used that feature yet. I have the 16gb model and I think it has sufficient memory. I have over 600 songs in it and 7 videos and still have about 80% available memory. Its just really cool. Only thing is the battery life could be longer, but it just recharges when its plugged in to the computer and it charges really fast. I highly recommend this product if you are looking to buy an ipod.
