Gnatrol

I had a huge infestation in the plant I just repotted, the gnats came from the soil I bought. I probably would have thrown out the plant but it's a palm that I've had for years and love. I bought the Gnatrol and used it several times in a course of two weeks, and the gnats are gone.

I have a LOT of houseplants, and nothing could kill the nasty little gnats - not even Diazonin. Thank goodness I discovered Gnatrol. Unfortunately, I find myself retreating every several months - but now I do it when I find one or two gnats, well before the infestation grows to be a huge problem.
THE Best Solution for FUNGUS GNATS 2007-02-05
My experience is almost identical to that of Home Gardener below. I repotted two house plants and within weeks had a major infestation of tiny little flies. They accumulated on the windowsills by the hundreds, literally. They reminded me of fruit flies, sometimes landing in our drinks and coffee cups. I had never heard of fungus gnats before I started researching these little critters on the Internet. The only product which specifically deals with fungus gnats is Gnatrol. Its main ingredient is Bacillus thuringiensis israelis (Bti), which is not only environmentally safe but also non-toxic to humans and animals.
My infestation was so heavy that it took three weekly applications (2 tablespoons per gallon of water) in order eliminate the gnats completely. No other insecticide I had tried previously had any effect on these flying nuisances.
Surprisingly, the only place I could find Gnatrol was online. None of my local nurseries carried it. Some had never even HEARD of it! The price may sound high (especially with the shipping) but in my opinion, it's worth every penny!

This works great, and nothing else I've found will. Don't leave it outside though; squirrels ate through the plastic AND opened the top of my first bottle and emptied it!
An Environmental Friendly Solution to Bugs 2006-11-02
The repotting of several large house plants with unsterilized dirt introduced into our home a small colony of fungus gnats which soon grew to a large civilization of gnats. We were reluctant to use harsh chemicals in our home, so tried other solutions, all of which failed until our research unearthed Gnatrol. The active ingredient in Gnatrol is Bacillus thuringienses, subspecies isrealensis. You add these helpful little creatures to the water when you water the plants, and once in the soil, they proceed to eliminate the fungus gnats. I used it at the heavy infestation rate to begin with, and now am using the light rate. The gnats are completely gone, but I'm going to do it a little longer just to be sure. My daughter also used it in her office at work, and she said she has the only space that does not have gnats flying around her plants. This product is a winner for us and a winner for the environment.

I just started using Gnatrol a few weeks ago and the gnats coming out of my plants has greatly reduced. I mean, they're not completely gone, and I do start to see a surge of them after I water my plants, but I have sticky traps right next to the plants, so the gnats don't get far. I have noticed that my plants are getting brown, but I don't know whether that is due to the gnatrol or other factors. I think I may have used too concentrated a solution the first time. But, all in all, I am satisified with the product.

I have a small plant business and had a nat problem in one of the offices. I tell you I tried everything. Nothing would work. This stuff is incredible,
I doesn't kill the plant nor does it have a bad odor. It takes a couple of weeks but boy does it work. I'm using my second bottle, i would highly recommend this product!!
Gnatrol Results

Gnatrol did not work. After 3 heavy doses to plants in our home over a period of 3 weeks, the fungus gnats continuied to thrive.I would not recommend this product. I had to resort to flying insect spray to get rid of the fungus gnats.
Great Product, works like magic 2007-11-18
This is the greatest product for getting rid of the pesky gnats. I have over 100 houseplants and every time I bring them in after their summer outside, I have swarms of gnats bothering us. I tried all sorts of things to get rid of them, but this product is the only one that makes them disappear completely.
It is especially important to keep some on hand for any new plants you buy because that has happened to me. I bring a new plant in from the store and it has the gnats and they spread from one plant to another. I just put the new plant in another room and use this product on it. Once I am sure it is safe, after using Gnatrol, I can bring the plant into my plant room with all the other gnat free ones.

Gnats in the garden, gnats got into the house. Soaked the soil and after a week no gnats. Need something like this for whiteflies
