The 45-Watt MagSafe Power Adapter for MacBook Air features a magnetic DC connector that ensures your power cable will disconnect if it experiences undue strain and helps prevent fraying or weakening of the cables over time. In addition, the magnetic DC helps guide the plug into the system for a quick and secure connection. When the connection is secure, an LED located at the head of the DC connector will light; an amber light lets you know that your portable is charging, while a green light tells you that you have a full charge. An AC cord is provided with the adapter for maximum cord length, while the AC wall adapter (also provided) gives users an even easier and more compact way to travel. Redesigned specifically for MacBook Air, the adapter is the perfect traveling companion. It has a clever design, which allows the DC cable to be wound neatly around itself for easy cable storage. This power adapter recharges the lithium polymer battery while the system is off, on, or in sleep mode. It also powers the system if you choose to operate without a battery.

you have to leave room for improvement

Compared to all other laptop chargers out there, this is definitely one of the world's smallest. But as small as it is, I'm with the guy that said it should be thinner. Even though it won't fit in a slim case without bulging out an inch, it fits in your pocket nicely, more so than previous Apple laptop chargers.

Great Charger

The Apple MagSafe charger is good in principle....will work on any newer MacBook. Handy pop out tongs are nice for rolling up the cord for mobility. The only thing I don't like is the size. It's much thicker than the Air itself and doesn't fit well into slim notebook cases made for the Air. This in some respects defeats the purpose of the thin and sexy MacBook Air, particularly when traveling. If Apple can make a notebook this thin, they have to be capable of making a skinny charger to match.

Better design than previous mac adapters - Works well on my MacBook Pro Too

This adapter works just fine on my MacBook Pro as well. The MacBook Pro adapters, while mag-safe, have a somewhat flimsy cord. Often fraying just behind the magsafe adapter when bent often. I lost one MacBook Prod adapter due to using it on the bed and having to drape it under the macbook, this lasted 6 months before it frayed and wore out.

The new power adapter looks much more sturdy, and I am sure it will last much longer than my MBP's adapter. When it comes time to replace the MBP adapter, I will be buying one of these for it as well!
