adequate but not as good as my old Kensington
2008-10-07
I was very disappointed when I discovered that my 3G iPhone did not work with my Kensington. I opted for the Belkin because at the time it was the only available FM tuner product. I purchased and first used the Belkin TuneCast in Ann Arbor and the metro Detroit area. Unfortunately Ann Arbor/Detroit has almost no free FM spots on the dial. The TuneCast identified some free stations but did not always seem to work. Often I found myself manually looking for stations. As for clarity I can say that the Belkin worked fine as long as there were no other radio stations in the vicinity. I'm fortunate as I live in Europe where there are no where near as many radio station as in the US. My Belkin works perfectly here producing very clear and nice sound. If you plan on using the Belkin TuneCast in an area that does not have too many radio stations, you might want to give the TuneCast a try.
The only one for now

Got it because its the only fm transmitter that will charge my 3g iPhone. It replaced my monster icar play 200. The best thing about this is the clear scan works in 1sec. However it seems to work like a random number generator, not actually picking a station it will work good on. I live outside Portland Maine, so its not exactly a big city. My car has an antenna in the rear window. If I don't orient the display just right I get static. But If I get it in just the right spot it sounds fairly good, with a little static on the quiet parts of the music. It will over power some very weak signals, but mostly it gets overpowered. I get a warning message to goto airplane mode. If anyone knows a mod to this thing to boost the power I would like to know.
Good seller, bad product...

Product shipped quickly and arrived in a timely manner. Unfortunately the product itself was deffective and would not charge my iPod while it was transmitting. Thankfully Belkin has an excellent RMA program where they send you the replacement before you send them the busted one.
All in all a good transaction since the replacement works great. Clearscan is an awesome feature that is very helpful for finding free stations.
DO NOT BUY FOR IPHONE3G
2008-09-08
Terrible product, and nothing to do with phone interference, which is what most people are worried about when buying FM Transmitters for the 3G. The only positive is that it charges the phone, but you can pick up a straight charger for under 20 bucks. It was litterally unusable, and I've always used FM transmitters with my ipods, and am not picky when it comes to them. I can usually handle the minor static associated with these devices, BUT this one can not hold a signal. It wouldn't take over a single channel on my radio, if you were lucky enough to find a station it worked on, that luck ran out before the song was over.
Save your money!

Alot of static..Locked in channel(s)fades out. High cost for a poor product. Don't waste your time & money. Go with a direct cable line.

Weak Signal
2008-07-31
For the price, you would expect the unit to transmit 3 feet to your car antenna. Unfortunely if the transmitter is below the dash all that you get is static.
Great industrial design, too bad it does not broadcast a signal
2008-07-23
Absolutely perfect design, but an awful product. The "clearscan" does a better job finding actual stations than finding empty space. In fact, I believe a random function would work better. I was able to here faint music from my 1G iPhone twice. The "Pro" function cycles between no signal, very weak signal, and mono weak signal. The broadcast signal is so weak that my Saab radio frequently passed over it entirely.
Good luck with this one Belkin, I suspect you won't be selling many of these in the future and getting most of them (including this one) back.
Hit and miss

My experience with this is spotty. It works great with either my iPhone or iPod classic, but only in my Ford Escape, which has its antenna in the front.
In my Hyundai, the interference is unbearable. Its antenna is in the back, confirming what a previous reviewer had discovered: it doesn't work very well with rear antennae).
Disappointing.
Ouch, not a good product

I really should have read these reviews first. I will be returning this product.
In brief, the pros: Solid construction, well made unit. Should last a long time. Easy to use and get working.
Cons:
Terrible audio quality. I had to find a new FM channel nearly every day, sometimes many times a day. Even when I did find a decently clear channel there was still a background of static and noise and the audio quality from the ipod was inferior to that of even regular radio channels.
Even tho it says made for the iphone when I plug it into my iphone I get the warning "this accessory is not compatible with the iphone" - it does seem to work ok and charge the unit but... i sure hate seeing that message. Makes me think I am doing something wrong by using it.
If i move the ipod around to change songs or such, I'll get bursts of static on the radio! What is this 1970 technology?
Too expensive for the poor audio quality - if it was $19.99 I might keep it as a back up or for when I am in a friends car or a rental car. For $70 this is going back immediately.
