Poor picture quality, don't receive full support if using Mac 2008-05-26
The print quality for pages is average, but picture quality is extremely poor. The picture is very grainy and colors are off. When I tried the special $25 HP 99 ink cartridge that is specifically for photos, photo quality was even worse. I contacted HP support but since I was on a Mac they could not completely help. Their solution was for me to go out and buy another cartridge, and if that didn't work they would send me a new printer.

I also was not able to get the wireless connection to work with either of my Macs, though it did work with a PC.

If you need just a regular printer/scanner (copies come out faded) then I guess this would be okay. But I will probably never buy an HP product again after my experience with this printer.

Printer is Good, Software is not. 2008-04-21
For the price this is a good wireless printer. I did have difficulties getting it to work with my router during initial installation and the software help was completely worthless. Also the on-demand scanning utility that can run in the background would keep my CPU usage pegged at 90% so I had to turn it off. Once I got the bugs worked out it worked well, giving me fast clean prints without me being tied to a single location within my house.

Touch & go functionality. Also takes our network down regularly 2008-07-17
The only real way to use the scanner, and most of the other features is by remote-control software installed on the computer. Most of the time this connection is tennuous. Click print, nothing happens. Try restarting both computer and printer, and it occasionally works again.

Also, after two new wireless routers, we finally isolated the cause of our wireless network dropping out: our new HP C4385 printer.

Infuriating, and a superior waste of time!

Printer, good value! Software, kinda annoying! 2008-07-16
So I just recently bought this printer from HP. So far so good, the printer is good, i love the wireless capabilities because that means less wires and because I use a laptop and move around a lot within my house it's nice to be able to print from anywhere without havign a computer connected to it and turned on.

I tried all the functions, the copying is good and it prints at a decent speed. Plus the printer scans very quietly which is kind of nice. The scanning was a little confusing tho due to the software, but after tinkering with the preferences I finally got it to do what I wanted it to do.

The software is a pain. Plus it adds Yahoo toolbar to ur IE if you click too fast during the installation and dont uncheck it. The installation is lengthy. Shorter than my old hp printer but still kinda lengthy. I recommend not using the cd that comes with it at all and jus going to the website and downloading the latest driver on the hp site.

Oh and one last thing. One of the main reasons why i bought this printer is because my old hp printer was incompatible with Vista. It kept uninstalling itself randomly and i'd basically have to reinstall it everytime i restarted my computer or unplugged it from my computer. I've tried shutting down my computer multiple times and all that and so far this printer hasnt showed any signs of trying to uninstall itself, so that is a def plus!

Either ways I would recommend this product for someone on a budget who needs a wireless computer, its a good buy!

Nice product 2008-07-04
A gift from my son as a father's day present, pretty impressed with its functions especially the wi-fi connected printing. I didn't have any problem about pairing it with my router. ink price is a little bit cheaper than average.
So far so good...

It's an OK printer, but ink is pricey 2008-06-25
I recently upgraded from my trusty old HP 920c, when I decided I wanted a faster, wireless, all in one. I was especially interested when I saw that ink cartridges were half the price of the cartridges my old printer uses. The printer works well enough, and I had no problems making the wireless work (but use the minimum drivers from HP's website, as the full package is a serious computer resource hog). But after I started going through ink cartridges like crazy, I did some research, and found that compared to the 19ml of my old cartridges, the ones that come with this one only hold 3.5ml, less than a quarter of the ink! That means I am paying twice as much for the ink, plus, when doing a big job, having to stop, change cartridges, print out and scan head alignment pages. I wouldn't purchase this one again.

DO NOT BUY, REPEAT, DO NOT BUY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 2008-06-24
I have never been motivated to write a review before, but if I can save just one person from buying this piece of junk it will be worth it. So far I have spent a combined 17 hours on the tech support line with some guy in India or New Dehli or wherever, and it still does not work correctly- HP has essentially thrown in the towel. If you are lucky enough to get it to talk to your wireless router, may God have mercy on your soul if you ever loose power to that router- you must repeat the whole process again. The software is incredibly bloated, it corrupts other unrelated files on your computer (I had to re-install my flash player(s)) and creates service host problems that cause your computer to seize up until you reboot. It is just horrible and I will try to get 4 or 5 months of use out of it so it won't be a complete waste of money, and then in the garbage it goes. Please, please, I'm begging you, just don't buy this product, you will be eternally mad/sad/ticked/etc. if you do. And this is from someone who has owned countless HP products over 20 years, from calculators to printers to computers. DON'T !!!!!!!!!!!!!
