Nice!!!

I did a lot of research before choosing this model. What sold me were all the great reviews, and they were all right! It has great picture quality good sound quality and volume. The battery has great life, (approximately 6 hours ) and does not get hot when its on your lap. I would recommend this unit to my friends should they be looking for a solidly built Sony product. The only drawback is that it is a little heavy.
Sony DVP-FX820/R 8-Inch Portable DVD Player, RED

I have looked at alot of the portable DVD players, and decided on the Sony. Good choice! It is very compact and light, with a great picture (a plus, the swivel screen!) good sound, and long battery life. It sure saved the day the last time we lost power, and the kids were still able to watch their favorite movie.
Very sturdy DVD player, works well!

I bought this DVD player because I started a distance MBA program that sends you the courses on DVD, so I needed a way to watch them anywhere. The DVD player works great and it has lots of inputs/outputs, including 2 headphone jacks. The only disappointment was the battery life. It's advertised as 6 hours and probably comes in closer to 3 hours. Still, 3 hours is plenty of time to watch any DVD, so I would recommend this player.
Can't go wrong with a Sony

I bought this portable DVD player to replace another I had recently purchased which was of poor quality. The Sony has a crisp picture, good sound quality and volume, well-thought-out design and controls, and quality construction. The inferior player I replaced had none of these attributes. My advice, don't waste your money on anything less.
Good choice for traveling with children

I initially purchased this player so my child could watch DVDs on a long car trip. I am very pleased with the DVD player. The picture quality is great and the screen is a good size. You can lock the controls/buttons so children can't change the settings or stop the player. Also the screen turns 180 and folds down, so the player can be held with a screen laying flat on top of it. The play time is good. I haven't had too many problems with the battery running out when watching shorter movies, but I haven't used it more than 2-3 hours at a time. I wish it did hold the charge a little longer on its own. I found that I had to plug it in every night to make sure it was charged and ready to go the next day.
It is also not very heavy and does not get very hot on the bottom. So perfect for children again. And the remote is FABULOUS when your child is watching it from the back seat and you want to change the track or volume, etc.
Earphones work well with the player as well and it is very durable and sturdy.
It is a great value and quality for the price. I highly recommend it!
(It will fit in the DVD case that is made to hang between seats).

this small DVD player has friendly controls, good remote response, easy setup menu, large screen conversion from a 4:3 format movie and screen details and hue/nuance in a typical and lofty Sony quality
Get a good harness for it and you can have it attached to the rear of your front seat.
None of the goodies like a Philips, Toshiba player (I own the DV91S, and the PET1030) has been able to outmatch this Sony. For its price and its size, I would have giving it 4.5 stars rather than 5 stars. But for now it is a excellent choice
Excellent product!!!! Look no further.

We purchased this to entertain our toddlers on their first flight to Disney. It was lightweight, compact, and worked wonderfully. It features two headphone jacks so that we did not have to disturb fellow passengers with their cartoons.
Now, I set the brightness to ten to conserve battery life as recommended by another reviewer. I also charged the battery upon arrival and it actually lasted the entire trip (approximately 6 hours of use) even though I brought the charger. The sound and picture quality were excellent!
Special thanks to all reviewers for convincing me to purchase this portable dvd player!!!

Bought this for airplane trips with the kids (etc). The image shown on Amazon is a little misleading b/c it does not show the battery attached (which adds about 1/3rd to the unit's thickness as shown). The screen quality (brightness) is great. Used it for 4+ hours on two flights and battery still had 1/3rd charge left. Like the double ear plug slots (so you don't have to buy / carry a splitter if you want to share). The sound is also good without earphones (much better than my mac book for example). My cousin has the generic Best Buy brand portable dvd player... after seeing his and comparing it to this one, I'm a bit jealous b/c his is thinner / more durable looking / cheaper (but don't know about the battery life).
