An excellent album. 2008-05-02
First off, Lyfe Jennings keeps it real and it's nice to see a young, gifted black artist with a great album with no "Parental Advisory" label on the front. Not that there's anything wrong with those, but it almost takes courage to not need one these days.

The album is fantastic, and ranges from soft acoustic-tinged tracks to upbeat, hip-hop flavored tracks, though it's most certainly not a hip-hop album. Lyfe has teamed up with other producers for this album, but never loses his personal grip on the tracks. The guest-stars are few and well-picked. My favorite songs are the two singles, "Cops Up" and "Never Never Land", along with "Old School" and "Midnight Train". Lyfe has released his third-straight amazing and consistent album.

The DVD that comes with the album is actually a very good one and worth watching: it contains live performances he put on for some people lucky enough to witness him, along with some interviews. Buy this album, and then buy his past two albums as well. You won't regret it.

Lyfe Change - Lyfe Jennings 2008-06-18

Lyfe Change is a 'Solid' Album, June 17, 2008
By Yasmine Mohamed "R&B-FUNK-SOUL-HIPHOP-THE LOT... (UK) - See all my reviews

After listening to the samples on amazon, I knew I had to purchase this album; and to be frank I am glad I did. Especially after hearing 'Cops Up', I knew that this album would have a lot of potentially good R&B/Soulful songs [which the industry seems to be lacking in].

To be honest, I would put Lyfe in the same category as Lupe Fiasco, in terms of the most talented under-rated artists of their genres. I have been waiting for a really 'feel' good R&B album to come out for quite some time.

On this particular album, I feel every single song on there fits well; as in there are no songs that go off the topic. It's actually really hard to choose my favorites right now, as I have only had a few listens, and I'll proabably keep changing my mind, but here goes;

1. Keep on Dreaming & Hmmm
2. Cops Up
3. Its Real
4. Brand New

Overall, I think this is a solid album, and I don't think anyone is going to top this any time soon.

Bada-boom, bada bang! 2008-05-21
The guy that stays in the game the longest is the guy who brings CHANGE!I'm loving Lyfe!!!!! His style is so uniquely his that it can not be duplicated. I've been die hard Lyfe fan since 268-192 and this album definitely lives up to his past albums. If you do NOT have any of this cd's GO GET EM!!! A lot of people will be happy to hear that unlike The Phoenix this ablum only has ONE interlude, To have gone from 10 years on lock down to making 3 great albums is phenomenal. The issues that he sings about are real and relatable, and you can hear the soul in each songs. This is my favorite CD right now. He has the makings to be in the game for a LONG TIME!!! I can't really name favorite tracks because I really love them all. I love the live performances on the DVD.

'I'm a true LYFER 4 Life' 2008-05-19
Lyfe Jennings is mos def the man!!!! He has totally evolved into an even more awesome force to be reckoned with. I thought his freshman joint was the bomb, but this one is the ISH for real!!! He laid it down with his raw tone and the lyrics are amazing. The collabo's are off the chain!!! Loving it, loving it, loving it more and more every time I listen!!!

Great job Lyfe!!! Keep making it do what it do brotha!!!! Somebody call the COPS UP because I've fallen in love with 'Change' on the real and a sista ain't trying to get up!!! That's Lyfe on the real!!!! Be blessed and keep giving it to us straight with no chaser!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

More of what the music industry needs! 2008-05-11
Let me start by quoting the great Lauryn Hill "Even after all my logic and theory, I add a mother ****** so you ignorant n***** can hear me." Lyfe is one of the few artists that is able to spread wisdom and reality without the explicit content and unnecessary vulgar language. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with explicit content but it takes a lot to become a Platinum recording artist without using explicit content.

With that said, I've been listening to this album since it leaked. I liked it so much I went out and bought the CD/DVD version the day it came out. The thing that makes Lyfe more unique than most R&B Soul artists is he doesn't have a great voice. He has a gritty, raspy voice, that isn't common in R&B artists. To compliment his unique voice he has a very unique lyrical style. He keeps it real, he's a man trying to make a change in the hood. And it's not coming from a middle class white man that has no idea what he's speaking, Lyfe still has the scars from the hood. It's hard to believe a guy who spent 10 years in prison for Arson would be trying to make a difference in urban areas. Rather than talking about money, cars, clothes, hoes...he keeps it real and speaks on issues such as AIDs contaminating the black race, violence in the urban areas, and adults refusing to grow up and take responsibility for themselves.

The album as a whole is a masterpiece. Lyfe has really worked to put together a body of work. Nothing like the rest of the industry, which is mostly concerned with bangin' beats, hot singles, and becoming the top "ringtone artist". I own Lyfe's first album but passed on the second one because I thought that it had more interludes than songs. Lyfe does a mixture of both of his previous albums on this one. His first album was mostly songs about relationships and love songs. The second album had more of a street style to it, where he talked about hustlin, life on the block, etc. This album has a little of both of those topics. I really encourage people to purchase this album.

Brilliant Artist 2008-05-07
I love Lyfe Jennings. I own every CD he put out there. He has a very unique voice which brings his music out. Go get this CD. I promise you, you will be listening to it every day. I love all the songs on the album, but my favorites are "Never, Never Land," "Cops Up," "You think you Got It." Wyclef is on this album, too and I just love Wyclef. His voice is unique, too. Don't think twice about not getting this CD. You will enjoy it. I promise you, you will.
