Superb!

This is really well done. I wish there were more to it, but what is there is an outstanding representation of Roy Buchanan's work, perhaps the best available. Mine will get a lot of play!
Unique One Of A Kind Virtuoso Blues Guitarist 2008-08-15
This DVD is a great gift to those who appreciate superb blues guitar music. Until now the only official video recording available of Roy Buchanan is in VHS form FURTHER ON DOWN THE ROAD-ROY BUCHANAN, ALBERT COLLINS, LONNIE MACK. There are other unofficial recordings of Roy Buchanan performing if you are fortunate to acquire them.
I have never seen an artist like Roy Buchanan play blues guitar like him. Original and plays with such emotion that it can be felt by the listener. I can only compare Mr. Buchanan's uniqueness to Edward Van-Halen' s unique way of playing rock guitar.
Roy Buchanan plays a combination of harmonic pinches, volume control, country pickin and flamenco combinations in his blues playing in an orchestrated talented way. You will have to see at least one performance to understand what I' am talking about. Just watch the first song. An amazing guitar player who put everything in his playing including the kitchen sink.
I would like to see more official remastered performances of Roy Buchanan. I would gladly purchase these official releases as soon as they become available. I' am sure others who enjoy the work of Roy Buchanan feel the same way.
Mr. Roy Buchanan is no longer with us but he has left a treasure of his art behind for us who still are to enjoy. Mr. Buchanan has given us a great gift of himself. His music. Pretty good, but not perfect

Except for Royz Bluz, in which Roy makes a lot of nonsense (and painful) noise with his guitar, the material is strong. The sound is also very good.
Unfortunetly, the video is very short (only half an hour), and when it ends you feel like something is missing, i mean, you keep waiting for him to get back on stage and play some more...
Smokin' Guitar 2008-07-30
If you like guitar music, you'll love this. Roy is one of the best guitar players EVER (in my opinion). The only issue I have with this DVD is that it is TOO SHORT in duration. Pick this one up...you won't be disappointed.
Telecaster Master 2008-05-08
Although this footage was shot over 30 years ago, the quality of the video is as clear as if it were filmed last week! That, along with the "New Audio Mix" makes this a "Must Have" for any Roy Buchanan fan, or any fan of the Telecaster, for that matter.
You WILL enjoy this DVD over, and over again.
A real treat.
I envy anyone, their first time seeing, and hearing this.

Too Little For Too Much

It's great that a live DVD from the fine Autin City Limits people of the great Roy Buchanan has been released. But $17.00 for 32 minutes of live songs that any true Buchanan fan already has? No thanks. There are other live Buchanan things out ther that are longer and better priced. This should have been paired with another artist on one DVD to justify the price.
Great picture and sound now. 2008-04-18
This DVD offers a big improvement in picture and sound over the bootleg video in circulation. Too bad no "bonus" songs were found to be included with the original five we get on the new 32 minute disc. It is Roy in his prime, playing great, performing several of his signature songs. The handwritten set list feature of the DVD is actually incorrect ("Soul Dressing" is left off). Now I'd love to see a good official DVD created from the masters of the 1971 WNET-TV documentary that introduced Roy. The holy grail for me is to see video of Roy's appearance on Don Kirshners Rock Concert in 1973.

there are at least 2 more live videos of roy. one live at rockpalast hamburg 1hr 16 min. and one 26 min. live but i don't remember where it was at.
Buchanan in his prime, pro-shot, short but sweet! 2008-04-16
When the Eric Johnson Austin City Limits appearance became available I immediately wrote to the New West organization asking to make this available. I'm sure many others must have as well because they have made it happen, and it is one of the oldest shows they have put out. This is a real gem to have been released! Great quality, great close ups, great sound! Great song selection considering how short it is too. His playing is just incredible. It's too bad they didn't have more footage but it's great to have what is here. (32 minutes)If you are a Buchanan fan I'm sure you have seen this footage in bootleg form but this is great quality!. If you want top notch sound and image buy it!

I've been waiting for some video of Roy for a long time. The video and audio are pretty good. Roy does some pretty damn good playing.
My only complaints are 1) Too short and 2) I wish cameramen would quit taking shots of the audience while he's pulling off many of his signature licks. However...luckily, this happens only a couple of times. All in all, I think this is a pretty good representation of Roy live as we might get, although I've seen several pieces of footage on YOUTUBE that leads me to believe there might be more out there. Anyhow I really enjoyed this.
