Excellent computer, terrible Vista!

This laptop is excellent. Fast, Great screen, loud speakers, it doesn't get hot and burn my crotch...But the Windows Vista is terrible! How could they put this on the market? Many programs are incompatible with vista. So many that even the spy ware that came with the computer, is incompatible with vista! I can tell that this is a good computer, but the windows vista just sucks. Luckily I paid $599 for this laptop at Best Buy so I'm just going to install XP on it. I wouldn't pay full price for this. You'd be better off with a Mac laptop for about a hundred bucks more. Remember, my only qualm with this laptop is the Vista it comes with. Other than that it's great.

Nice unit; problems with WIFI

I bought this laptop but, like the first reviewer, am having difficulties with the Wireless connections. The laptop will not recognize the wireless networks intermittently. Using the diagnostics just tells me that the switch is off, but it's not. If I delete the wireless card in the device manager and reboot, it will work. Seems to be related to the sleep mode but I am not satisfied yet that removing the sleep option is going to help. I have an open ticket at Sony but am not confident that they know how to fix this issue. If wireless is not a big issue for you, it's a super bargain. Otherwise, run!

very nice laptop for the price

Used it for about a month, very nice laptop, not expensive, not a gaming machine, but runs all my programs with ease. And it looks cool.

Graphics card issues

All in all I am happy with my new laptop. It does most of the things that I want it to do with ease and quickness. However, I am having issues with my graphics/video card. I bought the Orange Box from Valve and they say that the game does not recognize my graphics card. Needless to say my game playing experience has been terrible with it. I did not buy it as a gaming computer, however, and it does everything else I want it to beautifully.

Almost Perfect

The computer worked perfectly out of the box. After a week I was unable to make any WiFi connections. I tried Sony e-mail support and received instructions that were not consistent with my system. I called for support. I received a partial solution. I am still trying to get assistance to permit WiFi connections to be made routinely! Except for this problem I am delighted with the laptop!
