Best Conya Doss CD yet 2008-08-13
This is the best Conya Doss yet. Great voice, meaningful lyrics, excellent productions. I purchased three of her CD's. This one , "Love Rain Down" and "Just Because". I love all three of them.

Why Do You Want to Sound Like a Little Girl? 2008-08-02
First, I have to explain how a 60+ year old white guy comes to be reviewing a Conya Doss record, (and perhaps why I disagree with the other reviewers).... I'v been a fan of jazz singer Mary Stallings for more than 40 years. Ms Stallings is R&B singer Adriana Evans' mother. On the theory that the apple may not fall far from the tree, I picked up one of Ms Evans' albums the other day and PRESTO, Amazon recommended Ms Doss. "What the heck," says I, "I'll check her out."

OK, I've listened to enough of today's urban music to recognize a unique voice when I hear one, (Tionne Watkins' voice makes my toes curl). Ms Doss doesn't have one. Now don't get me wrong. Her voice is not bad. But she sounds like dozens of other "Beyonce wannabes" - that slight, sort of waifish soprano that leaves me wanting to ask, "You're a grown woman. Why do you want to sound like a little girl?"

Putting aside Ms Doss' voice, the real problem with "still..." is that she wrote all of the songs. Ms Doss' songs are monologues set to music and, unfortunately she doesn't have anything very interesting to say. Her songs may speak to young urban adults, (I'm not qualified to say), but they certainly don't talk to a larger audience.

Finally, "still..." suffers from the same problems that plague so much of today's pop music - it's over processed, over produced and, frankly, predictable and boring.

Cony Doss 2008-07-30
I really love Conya Doss. I think this is her best CD yet. I seen her in concert recently and she was fantastic.

wow! I can't stop listening 2008-07-19
I usually don't write reviews for albums, but I had let the world know how I feel about Conya Doss. She is the kind of artist that I can buy a CD from without even listening to it. It's amazing what can happen when an artist is allowed to do an album their way. There really isn't a bad track on "Still..." Some tracks just speak to me on a deeper level than others. One of my favorite tracks is "Can't Stop" That one has been on repeat forever in my Ipod. It sums up perfectly what Conya Doss is doing for us: she's giving us all the love she's got. I just wish that she just keeps getting better and better.

Soulful and infectious! 2008-07-15
I heard about this artist listening to the Michael Baiden show...needless to say, Conya Doss is an amazing talent that any lover of neo soul will have to add to their collection. On some of the tracks, I thought her voice was similar to Faith Evans, so if you're a fan of Faith's you will enjoy Conya. I enjoy purchasing CDs that you can put in, press play, sit back and relax - you will want to listen to this from beginning to end. I will definitely purchase more of Ms. Doss' music!

Excellent 2008-07-08
Smooth with a twist of Funk!

Consistently Amazing! 2008-07-07
I was so happy to see a new release from Conya. I've been a fan from her first release and love that she stays true to herself. She's a true artist!

AAMBC Music Reviews 2008-05-29
It's not hard to realize that Ms Doss is one of the best unknown artists in the industry. Her music is one of the best neo-soul creations I have heard put together. When first listening to a new album you want to get the feel of it, and see if you would like it. But from the first track on Ms. Doss's album, I was drawn in. Her voice is absolutely amazing. Her topic of songs is based off of love and life. Her music id defiantly one of a kind, I love her style and her presence and look to see when her name is well known on a Grammy level.

LOVE her! 2008-05-14
I am a big Conya Doss fan. Why must real music fans work so hard to hear good music nowadays? At any rate, I'm glad I searched and found Ms. Doss. This is the third CD I have purchased from her, and I have not been disappointed yet. My favorites are the ones she does with producer Rodney Jones. They seemed to have been in a real groove in the studio. My absolute favorite song on this project (one of my favorite ballads of this decade) is "What I'd Do". The lyrics (about undying love from a woman's point of view), melody and hook are really strong and she sings it with geniune feeling and emotion. I also really like "Can't Stop" and "Come Over". I enjoy the whole CD. Her voice and pitch are fresh like sitting outside listening to the sounds of spring. Enjoy!

I'm Convinced... 2008-04-30
This woman CANNOT make a bad CD. That's it. LOL, she has STILL got it! In fact, she's continually getting better. Conya delivers again. Wow, how much I want the world to embrace her...yet at the same time, I would never want her to have to succumb to a mainstream sound.

I just love Conya...love her voice...love her songs...LOVE her lyrics, which is a running theme through all 4 of her CDs, yes FOUR! If you're new to Conya, you will not be disappointed with this CD. I would also recommend picking up her Just Because CD (her 2nd release), which is my personal favorite of the 4. And if you happen to be able to pick up "A Poem for Ms. Doss", her debut, get that too! (Hopefully, you can get it at a reasonable price, but I think it's pretty hard to find these days.)

Conya is SO SO SO great at writing and singing ballads I just can't explain. This woman truly has the ability to write about situations that we all can relate to - but it's not just that, she delivers the songs with such emotion, you can feel it. Almost every love song of hers reminds me of a personal experience of mine...I love songs that touch me like that.

One thing I love about "still..." is that she is continuing to venture out with more uptempo songs like she did in her 3rd CD, "Love Rain Down". I love her ballads, but the variety of uptempo songs are definitely welcome.

Fave tracks:
Can't Stop
What I'd Do
Let Me Love You
I Miss You
Come Over
How About Us

If you've never heard of Conya, I would compare her almost to Mary J Blige, but without all the screaming that Mary can sometimes (often) do. And this comparison is not to say that Conya is trying to sound like Mary, it's just to give you a frame of reference of her voice, and style. She's more mellow, smooth, sensual, and groovy than Mary and that's what I love about her.

Pick this up and be made happy :-)
