Great TV, better than expected with HD programming.

We purchased this TV for our family Christmas present two weeks ago. We chose the 1080p version because we plan to upgrade to a blu-ray player. Of course we couldn't wait and had to set it up immediately. Initially I thought it was a nice TV and was happy because the screen was bright and it is 'bigger' than our last TV.

Then, we upgraded to DirectTV's HD programming. Wow, what a difference. I have to say I am blown away. The picture is crystal clear, bright, the colors are beautiful. Additionally, the TV is very intuitive to use and the menu system is well thought out and easy to navigate.

We upgraded from a 27" tube TV and chose the 37" because we wanted a 1080p TV at a reasonable price. It seems like everyone is wanting a 40" or bigger these days, but I have to say the 37" is stunning. It's a great size, feels like a large screen without overwhelming the family room.

This is a great TV and is breathtaking with HD programming. If you considering a HDTV do not short yourself, go for the HD programming to go with it. What a difference!

i love this tv

it's the perfect size for a city apartment and came at a great price (with FREE shipping). i bought it on a sunday night and received it on thursday morning. it was very easy to set up. i had read in earlier reviews of this model that the tv doesn't have separate power, volume, and channel buttons on the set but rather--you need to use a remote. i was pleasantly surprised to find them on the right-hand side of the tv. the sound could be better, but i was planning on buying a home theater system anyway.

i bought this tv via consumer reports recommendation. i have had the tv for 4 weeks and i haven't found anything to complain about. the picture is very good and much better then my 52" panasonic lcd ( albeit 5 years old).

Awesome TV!

After reading Consumer Reports ratings, I ordered this tv online. We just received it today, opened, set up and watching HDTV in less than 10 minutes! The picture is beyond expectations. The color is so sharp and the picture is positively exquisite. Not only did Amazon have the best price, the no shipping, no taxes and white glove delivery made this an exceptional purchase overall. "Santa" delivered the new tv now, in anticipation of my 7yr old getting a wii for Christmas. I am so excited, "Santa" may have to open the wii tonight after he is in bed to test it out on the new tv.

Overall, the whole buying experience was so easy through amazon and the tv is just awesome!

Good unit and reasonably priced

System is good for a small room. The picture clarity is great and HD is sharp and crisp. Sound is acceptable but I added a small powered audio speaker system to enhance the base.

I spent several hours reviewing 37" LCD TV's online and followed it up by going to one of our local superstores to see & listen to the units. I compared the 720P & 1080P units for picture quality & found them to be similar in the full screen mode. What separated the former from the latter was the zoom mode I regularly use when I watch TV in the letterbox or 4.3 format. It was no contest with the extra lines of resolution available on the 1080P units. They do make a difference ! The screens of the Sony, Panasonic, Samsung, Toshiba, etc. are all similar side-by-side , but I definitely prefer the sound coming from the Panasonic. I have no intention of installing external speakers, so it was extremely important to have a decent set of internal speakers in my selection. The other thing I noticed in the store was the side viewing angle of the Panasonic was by far the best of any LCD's I watched. To make a long story short- I love this set and am glad I waited until 1080P was available in the LCD market. Plasma is still king when it comes to picture quality, but this is very close !!!!!!!!!

Excellent Value

I purchased the 37" Viera based on Consumer Reports recommendation, and am very happy with it. However, who decided the shape of the flat screens should be rectangular, rather than square? I had to purchase a riser to raise the level of the TV to be centered vertically in my entertainment center. The width fit perfectly. Not Panasonic's fault, but aggravating nonetheless. Great TV for the price.

Perfect in All Respects

Product arrived quicker than promised, Priced below competitor products by over $500, the HDTV definetly deserves the rating it received in Consumer Reports which quotes $1,400
Most important are the features. The unit has the BEST viewing angle of any of the pricier units compared.

Not up to expectations

The Panasonic Viera TC-37LZ85 37 inch tv's (two) which I purchased did not live up to my expectaions. I use them with Cable TV and the pictures are not as clear as I wanted on the HDTV channels, changing channels is very slow, and the sound is poor - we need to have sound at 100 (maximum) for hearing the TV in normal conditions.
