Awesome!

Jemaine and Bret are so ridiculously awesome all efforts at praise kinda seem to me pithy, bland and "current". Their band, their TV show, their act and this record is/are/whatever....simply incredible. I knew I loved their songs with the intensity of a thousand suns probably about 1 minute after first hearing them. Totally. Buy this CD. Buy their DVD. Do whatever it takes to invest in their incredible talent. Werd.
No "Cheer up Murry"?!

Cheer up Murry is my favorite track of their's and they didn't include it! But the production is top notch. When they want to sound 70's soul the production really nails it. It'd be a decent record even if it weren't funny.
The really funny thing is...

The really funny thing is, that the humor aside, this is just a really good album. (CD... project... whatever...)
If you aren't listening to the lyrics and just have it on the background you'll find the rhythms and sounds a little retro and old school sometimes.. but just extremely well done.
Unlike lots of comedy music acts, these guys are actually incredibly talented musicians with an incredible gift for song writing and musicality.
It's true what a couple reviews have said, that much of it is funnier and fresher in sound and and feel in the much more pared down live acoustic versions.
But it is kind of apples and oranges to me... and it all makes a nice salad.
I've found myself humming one or another of these songs for the past two weeks and, again-and-again - it is what I reach for to put in while I'm just surfing the web or whatever.
Often I'm not even listening intently to the lyrics and laughing any more... I'm just not thinking about it and grooving to the groove.
Best CD I've bought in a long time really.

I have enjoyed hte Flight of the Conchords for a while now, but being able to hear all their great songs in your car is the best. Every song on this CD is FANTASTIC. I can't stop talking about it to friends. I have already purchased 4 of these CDs for gifts. If you are having a hard day, just pop this cd in your cd player and get ready to laugh your head off. Nice Representation Of FOTC

What can you say - if you're a fan, you'll "get it."
The show is great, so when my son saw this, we grabbed it. An absolute riot. It does lose a little something when you can't see them singing these songs with a serious, deadpan delivery. But, my imagination is pretty good. Everytime I hear "Bowie" the Bowie dream sequences pops into my head. I crack up.
Watch the show - buy the album.
Love it!

This acclaimed Kiwi novelty band follow the release of their six-track Grammy Award-winning CD EP "The Distant Future" with their full-length debut. Features fully fleshed-out and professionally recorded versions of the duo's concerts and TV favorites. Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement's trademark acoustic guitars lead the blitz, backed by a diverse array of instrumentation and production technique. If amazing, delightful, and hilarious is your idea of funny, then prepare for undisappointment. These fifteen songs pay homage to Pet Shop Boys, censorship, Marvin Gaye, sexism, Shabba Ranks, and backhanded compliments.
Joke gets old after awhile...

At first listen, this sounds original, fresh and funny. But by the 6th track I was like "okay, I get it, now what?" Unfortunately the tired act just continued throughout the album. Never saw the show or whatever so perhaps I'm missing something but I didn't really like it all too much. But I can appreciate their creativity.
Extremely well done - smiled all along

This translated from the show very well to a CD. Something was lost when Tenacious D made their album, the two man acoustic fury was missing.
The songs in Flight of the Conchords were almost album ready, so hearing them on the album is not a big leap. In fact, listening to the album lets you hear how clever and talented these guys really are. And as a music album, it's really well produced and composed. You do need to see the show first to understand the songs. One downside, one song is missing: "Brown paper, white paper, sticking together with the tape, the tape of love!" I like that one. Oh, also, "I'm not crying" is missing, but that's on the Distant Future.
Ridiculous Family Fun

We all put this whole album on our ipods and listened to it for a month straight! Young, old, and in between loved the mellow satire and peppy beats. So many clever lyrical twists we've been quoting endlessly. We say to each other 'how can something so dumb be so clever?' and listen to it again. Deceptively smart vocals and a smooth mix of genre hopping tunes make me want to stop writing and go listen to it again...
So Funny!

These 2 men, Jemaine Clement and Bret McKenzie, not only have a unique way with words, they are also good singers too. They always have me cracking up, laughing so hard. I was happy to see this cd come out, after buying their first season show that had these songs in the show, but were not on the dvd separately.
