Must have if camera is going to be around water 2008-10-24
I took my olympus stylus 1030 to Lake Powell for a week and I guarantee I would have dropped my camera playing with it in the water. This worked better than I was expecting. I read a couple reviews about similar products that didn't float cameras and was kind of worried. Well I don't have anything to be worried about now. I could throw the camera off the house boat into the water and it would stay right on the top, not really ever going under the water at all. I would also leave the camera in the water for up to 2 hours while swimming and it never absorbed water like other people stated. Mine just kept floating like it said it would. When I am not by water I replace this strap with the normal one that came with the camera because this is way too bulky for everyday use. I would recommend this product to anybody with a waterproof camera that is going to be using it in the water (I don't know why else you would buy a waterproof camera but i wanted to clarify).

Great Product 2008-08-27
This strap works well with the amazing Olympus Stylus 1030SW. I just got back from the beach with my family and it worked great. We had a ball with it in the ocean and now have some great memories to boot!!! The strap is a must if you intend to use the camera any where near moving water.

Good Job Olympus!!!!

Worked great - even in a river! 2008-08-16
We recently used the float strap on a rafting trip in Montana... we were all in small inner tubes and our cameras saw PLENTY of water time... the float worked GREAT! My husband and I both have the Olympus 850SW and both have the float strap... he's a little more adventurous than I am and felt the need to see if the float would support the weight of the camera in a moving river... IT DID! So there you go. I was as surprised as anyone. Slow moving river - not rapids... but all in all - very impressive!

pretty cool 2008-08-07
This works ok, it made it so my camera didnt sink to the bottom of a lake :). The only problem I noticed is that it works kind of like a sponge. If it fills up with air, it floats. If it is squeezed under water, it will suck in the water and (slowly) sink. I would think with the godawful size that it wouldn't be just a sponge.

Bring it back above water, squeeze the water out, and let it fill with air, and it works again. Pretty goofy the way it works, but it's better than nothing.

Olympus 1030 SW Float Strap 2008-08-02
The idea behind this is good but it is very bulky and you will need to plan ahead when you maybe near deep water as this strap is not great for day to day use.

Works great 2008-07-28

Works great, a little nerdy. 2008-07-12

Review: ... "Click! The No Nonsense Guide to Digital Cameras" is misnamed. It covers a lot more than just cameras. In a couple of hundred pages, it includes using a scanner and Adobe Photoshop Elements 2 to rescue faded, damaged family photos, the basic guidelines to good picture taking, how to use Elements 2 to improve your digital photos, and how to print and preserve your pictures for the ages. White, the author of the bestseller "How Computers Work," knows how to pack a lot of helpful, understandable information in a brief no nonsense book.

Review: "This Camera is one of the best in its price range. It takes beautiful clear pictures and can be used right out of the box, but its worth learning all its features. The included memory holds about 20-25 pictures so I upgraded to 128mb. I reccomend getting a 128mb card and the Sony camera case. Not only is this one of the best cameras in its class it includes decent software and rechargeable batteries that are at least a 20$ value.
HIGHLY reccomend over canon, kodak, and fuji. One more thing this camera has CARL Zeiss lens (if you dont know, great lens) all the competetors have generic lens."

From the Back Cover The megapixel hype
The fact is a camera’s megapixel rating is only a measure of how many pixels (photosensitive sites) an image sensor has…. An image sensor is simply one component of an entire system that produces a digital photograph… So resist buying into the megapixel hype when you’re choosing a digital camera. From Chapter 1
