Editorial Review
The Linksys WRT110 RangePlus Wireless Router is really three devices in one box. There's the Wireless Access Point, which lets you connect to the network without wires. A built-in 4-port full-duplex 10/100 Switch connects your wired-Ethernet devices together. The Router function ties it all together and lets your whole network share a high-speed cable or DSL Internet connection. The Access Point built into the Router uses smart antenna technology to achieve extended range. The Multiple In, Multiple Out (MIMO) technology actually uses these reflections to increase the range and reduce dead spots in the wireless coverage area. The robust signal travels farther, maintaining wireless connections much farther than standard Wireless-G. With MIMO, the farther away you are, the more speed advantage you get. The RangePlus Wireless Router can dynamically enable this double-speed mode for compatible devices, while still connecting to other wireless devices at their respective fastest speeds. To help protect your data and privacy, the Router can encode all wireless transmissions with industrial-strength 256-bit encryption. It can serve as your network's DHCP Server, has a powerful SPI firewall to protect your PCs against intruders and most known Internet attacks, and supports VPN pass-through. Configuration is a snap with the web browser-based configuration utility. With the Linksys RangePlus Wireless Router at the center of your home or office network, you can share a high-speed Internet connection, files, printers, and multi-player games, and run media-intensive applications at incredible speeds, without the hassle of stringing wires.

Shorter range than expected 2008-05-12
I read very good reviews of Linksys WRT54GS and bought its update, the WRT110. I have a 802.11g wireless adapter on my laptop, so I am not taking advantage of the 802.11n router capabilities yet. So far I tested it only on the first floor of our house and I am somewhat disappointed by the quick drop in signal strength. At the opposite side of the house, about 45 feet away, the signal drops to only 2 bars out of 5 (using the Wireless Network Connection Status in Windows XP). This may be because the direct line from the router to that location passes through the laundry (washer & dryer) and possibly the fridge in the kitchen. To my dismay, the strength was still only 2 bars in a closer area (dining table), at about 18 ft. Here too, the "line of sight" would pass through the laundry. I pulled the router from the desk in the corner of the room in front of the open door. In plain sight of the router, the signal at 18 ft was now 4 bars, and remained at 4 bars as I moved to about 36 ft straight ahead, still in plain sight. I came back to the dining table at 18 ft and closed the door in front of the router - the signal is flickering between 3 and 4 bars. The door is the light plastic foam type, no metal whatsoever. I therefore cannot confirm the "strong signal at 80 - 100 ft" cited by another reviewer. I could probably remedy the situation by placing the router at a more central cable outlet location on the second floor, but this is less convenient for my phone (I am using VOIP). On the positive side, the setup was very quick and easy. One could argue that even at 2 bars the connection performs sufficiently well. Neverthless, I will probably replace this model with something stronger.

Great Product 2008-04-24
I have owned a Linksys B wireless router for over 4 years. I have too many products competing for a wireless signal so I decided to upgrade to the 110. The only issue I had is where I had to call tech support to find out where in the router's menu could I change the output to B/G.
I have the following items connected
PS3
XBOX 360
iPod Touch
XP Laptop
Vista Laptop
Mac iBook
XP Desktop

I usually have the one laptop and a video game console going at the same time and don't notice any problems. The router is on the second floor and the video games systmes and laptops are on the first floor. I don't have experience with any other companies and I would continue to use Linksys products.

Comcast and Tech Support 2008-04-16
The installation CD is sraightforward and walked me thru the installation, and I had no problem connecting with my Comcast broadband. However, I'm not very computer literate and did my initial set-up using the WPA protocol (high security encryption), but was unable to get my 2nd computer's adapter to connect with the router. I finally called the 800 tech support number and my wait time was about 5-min at 8 PM (I don't know what time it was in Bombay!). The tech rep walked me thru a reconfiguration and got my adapter to connect to the router, and explained that my 2nd computer is an older one (4+ years old) and didn't support the WPA protocol; he helped me to set it up with the WEP protocol and everything worked fine. Oh yeah, I like the style without the external antennas...I call it the "Stealth" router!

Very Easy Setup and Improved Range 2008-04-14
I also have Comcast and was able to hook up this unit, replacing a WRT54G, with no problem at all using a Windows XP desktop and the installation wizard CD. The WRT54G's limited range did not work in all areas of my house, and the WRT110 has resolved that issue. Devices that are 80-100 feet away from the unit have a strong, consistent signal. The only downside that I have found with Linksys is that the wait times on support calls has become greatly extended from what it was two years ago. It seems like the support staffing has not kept up with the number of units being supported.

it DOES work with Comcast and Mac 2008-04-11
The only other reviewer of this product rated it only 1 star because he said it did not wok with Comcast. Well, I have Comcast and it works just fine for me. I had to call tech support because I have a Mac and the router's start-up disc doesn't work with a Mac. I spent about 15 minutes on the phone with the lady and she had me up and running no problem. My issue had to do with my having an iMac, not Comcast. My only complaint so far is that there is no start-up disc for Mac users or no documentation in the packaging about being able to go to the Linksys website where it is very easy to install this product online . Linksys should really get with the program and start taking care of us Apple based consumers... Not all of us can afford the $179 and up for Air Port Extreme.

So easy! 2008-07-16
I was so scared of trying to set up my own wireless connection, but the Linksys WRT110 came highly reccommended, so I went for it. It took me longer to get the thing out of the box than it did to set up my network! It was so easy and I was up in running in less than 10 minutes! If you just want to set up a small home network, this is the one for you. I will sing the praises of this product to everyone I know!

Questions 2008-06-27
THIS IS NOT A REVIEW---------- i am thinking about buying this product but i am wondering if i place this router next to my main computer will the main computer still work with the ethernet cable because i do not want to have to buy another cable

Easy Peasy 2008-06-01
I was able to set up this product in minutes with no hassle. I like the fact that it supports WPA2 and 802.11n. I have had no connectivity issues whatsoever in my 2-story house (~1700 sf), and I've been able to use it in the backyard. It works well with my macbook pro, and I also have a windows desktop and Tivo hooked up to it, both with wired connections. When my sister comes over and brings her laptop, she can also connect up simultaneously with no problem. I was afraid that lack of external antenna would make it not work so well, but this is not the case.

A Very Good Router 2008-05-29

I purchased this router about a month ago.So far it has performed very well. No dropped connections,Have not had to reset it once. I have two I Mac's networked on it,and my voip router also. I love the leds, the low profile ,no antenna's. Setup was quick and easy.

Router w/ Great Range 2008-05-20
The sleek internal antenna design and the lovely black finish gives the WRT110 style. Even so, the range boost allowed excellent connection 60 feet away with my wireless G adapter. Speed is descent. Fully compatible with my Time Warner Cable. Once this router is in your possession, I would greatly suggest you upgrade the firmware to fix any bug issues. Overall, not only does this router look nice, it gives you everything you need in a home network.
