works as advsertised 2008-10-06
works well for outdoor portraits in sunlight. needed filter to be able to use lower aperatures for dof and filter works as advertised.

Flare on strong light source, fine otherwise 2008-10-05
I have owned this 67mm UV Protection Filter for about a month, being used with my 18-105mm Nikon lens.

The protection filter works as advertised (from Tiffen's own words: "It protects the actual lens from dust, fingerprints, and other small substances that can harm image results. The filter is also easier to keep clean. That's why it should always remain on your camera.") and has so far protected the actual lens from any dust or smudges. I am also less fearful of wiping any dirt on the filter (compared to where the dirt was on the lens itself); the filter is cheap and can be replaced easy.

It mounts on lens via the filter thread very well; it is neither loose that it will fall off nor too tight that it is difficult to remove. The filter also has threads so you can stack other 67mm filters and it works just as well---I have tried it with a 67mm Neutral Density 0.9 filter. The texture and finish of the filter's metal ring is a bit strange to my hands, though, but only because it did not match the texture and finish of the lens. The Tiffen 67mm UV Protection filter also accepts the original lens cap that came with the 18-105mm Nikon lens with not much issues.

I am quite happy with the filter if not for the fact that it gives an unsightly flare when pointed to a strong light source and not just the sun. If this is not an problem for you then this filter will serve you well. Otherwise, I would recommended a multicoated (and more expensive) 67mm UV Protection filter instead, which prevents (or at least minimises) flares.

Happy shooting.

Filter Kit 2008-10-03
Unfortunately, the filters didn't fit my Nikon D80. I was little disappointed since in the product description Nikon D80 was one of the camera for this product. However, I had no problem returning the product and receiving refund. The photo company was very helpfull.

Don't buy this for your L lens! 2008-09-24
People- please, think! If you're spending over $1000 on a precision piece of optics, why would you put an cheap window pane in front of it? It sucks that filters cost a bit of money, but seriously, you need to get something that's at least multicoated, and preferably B&W or Heliopan or some other good brand. For a $200 lens, this is fine. But it breaks my heart to see this "bundled" with an $1100 L lens.

Good filter for protection 2008-09-22
This is a handy filter just to carry around. I use it on my Tamron f/2.8 28-75mm for protection. I use it for day and night shot, and there are no significant reflections. For the price, it is a great deal. It has protected my lens from harsh conditions of traveling around Europe and South Africa.

Great "Clear" filter for a resonable price 2008-09-14
I have used Tiffen filters for several years, and purchased this to protect my new Canon digital lens.

Good polarizer and protection. 2008-09-12
I use this (Tiffen 67mm Circular Polarizer) with my Tamron 17-50 mm lens(with hood) and I am much happy about it. Its costly (amateur photography) but well worth the price and it gets the job done (protection and polarizing). Smooth movement and all and not a bit loose.

Though I should mention that the outer rim cuts seem to get dented by slight nail pressure, but doesn't affect the polarizer or the lens.

Review 2008-08-27
I am not particularly happy with this CPL. It is unable to handle flares if the sun is atleast 45degrees to the lens and there is some sunlight on the filter. My previous filters did not have this problem. Have to be really very careful when using this filter otherwise it would ruin your shot.

Affordable protection 2008-08-07
After spending lots of money on camera and lenses I needed something reasonably priced to protect my lenses. This filter has worked fine for me, I don't notice any difference in pictures taken with and without the filter. I have to say though that I am an amateur photographer.. and wanted something for protection until I become more knowledgeable about filters.

Review: "This Camera is one of the best in its price range. It takes beautiful clear pictures and can be used right out of the box, but its worth learning all its features. The included memory holds about 20-25 pictures so I upgraded to 128mb. I reccomend getting a 128mb card and the Sony camera case. Not only is this one of the best cameras in its class it includes decent software and rechargeable batteries that are at least a 20$ value.
HIGHLY reccomend over canon, kodak, and fuji. One more thing this camera has CARL Zeiss lens (if you dont know, great lens) all the competetors have generic lens."

The fact is a camera’s megapixel rating is only a measure of how many pixels (photosensitive sites) an image sensor has…. An image sensor is simply one component of an entire system that produces a digital photograph… So resist buying into the megapixel hype when you’re choosing a digital camera. From Chapter 1
