Great Product

Product is great - much better and more powerful tool than 7.0 or Designer Suite.

Good and Bad.

Pro 8.0 is good at creating general floor plan layouts and visual reviews But I purchased the Pro version because it claims to have layout/blue print generating capability that the cheaper versions don't.
But although you can make blue print type pages it is almost completely a cut and paste style of operation where you have to go through time consuming multiple steps to do so. At $500 it should at least automatically generate basic front, back, side and top elevations for prints!
The Roof and framing automatic functions work well only on very basic designs, even manual roof designs have problems if you have more complex roofs such as an RV storage saltbox type high roof attached to a standard gable house roof.
Recommend product for floor planning/visualization but not for actual building/working plans.
Save yourself a lot of money and buy one of the cheaper versions if your just going to do floor plan layouts and visualization.

The Home Designer Pro software is a cut-down version of the full Chief Architect product (allowing a building to be drawn that is less than 4 stories tall). It is a good product for professionals in the residential construction field -- WAY better than the others available. If you have version 7.0, Chief Architect's website would be a good visit -- they update to version 8.0 for products purchased between certain dates.
