CAUTION: Amazon is combining reviews for different model #s here

Pleez don't slam me for this not being a product review. I just got confused by noticing differing specs in the reviews on this page. After reading some replies to a few original comments, I see that I'm not the only one who is confused.
My conclusion is that Amazon is *combining* reviews from most (if not all) of the "DV68xx" series that appear in the pull-down menu at the top of this product listing page.
So, if you're writing a new review, and you want it to be truly helpful, then pleez be sure to include the specific HP model that you're reviewing. (It would also be helpful if existing reviews were edited by their authors to show this, also.)

DV6810us RUNS WAY TOO HOT + DVD DRIVE NOISY!

Beware! This laptop generates a lot of heat underneath, and on the palm rest. I don't like heat too much and I bought this laptop to use to watch movies and surf the web in my bedroom. Also, the DVD drive is very noisy. Additionally, the AC adapter gets SO HOT that it would burn my children if they were to accidentally touch it. Otherwise, the display was ok and it only took me about 2 hours to downgrade to XP and get everything working. I returned it and suffered a $102 restocking fee, but I bought the Toshiba A215-S5837 and it was ~ $100 cheaper so in the end I broke even and got a much quieter and cooler running laptop.

great laptop guys, i bough this for 680$ here on amazon, it is very charged pc, you can easily manage your business and play hard games on it. very nice design, vista is also good enough

Great but not as I expected

The laptop has great ram (3 GB), great processor (rated at 6 GHz but runs at 4GHZ when needed), great ergonomics and design but what I hated is the card.
I have never seen a played in a computer that has a so cheap IGP (integrated graphic card) as the 7150m. It is a little better than my eMachines desktop of almost 4 years but not as much as I expected, but I least I can play games in the lowest resolutions with all desactivated (it does not good good at all).
And to run Vista Aereo you need at least a 3.0 rated card ant it is rated at 2.9 for Aereo and 2.5 for games.
And other bad thing, Vista, because without it, the laptop could perform way better in processing and graphically (that is why many games require better graphic card for vista to play a game with the same graphics with a lower card on XP).
To finish, this is a good laptop for a person that will do anything except playing demanding games as COD4 (playing but looks kinda bad).

Pretty good product and a reasonably good out of the box experience, which has more to do with Vista than it has to do with the machine itself. Very nice screen and good view-ability.
VERY VERY decent laptop 2008-06-28
I purchased this product as a desktop replacement. I've had it for a few weeks now and it is great. It actually came with more than I expected. Great wide screen, mic, webcam, quick-key buttons for quick play, mouse pad disable option, all of the jacks and ports you need, quick on/off switch for wireless network card, decent speakers, dedicated cards, and more.
The only things that have been poor thus far is that my disk player would open itself randomly (it has been a little while since it last did that), and when installed Windows Live Messenger it began to restart itself as windows kept saying it was in a critical state every time it booted up. Thank heavens for safe mode and restart points! A bit of bloatware but there is no problem with uninstalling.
Overall, I highly recommend this well-rounded laptop to everyone in search of something perfect for the price.
Great Home Laptop 2008-06-26
This laptop has great finish, screen, performance, and specs. You really enjoy it. Works great. I'm computer science engineer and has no problems to run my development environment, that is more "heavy" than usual home software or tasks.

this is an amazing laptop you can do almost anything with that you can play a lot of games, do your home and some stuffs like that but the only bad is the O.S vista sucks i change to linux and XP and is so fast but in all the other things everything is perfect........
