Save a couple of hundred bucks a year!!!!!!!!!!
2008-08-18
I had accumulated a $25 gift certificate from Amazon.com Visa and put it toward this purchase. It only cost $11 after shipping.
I first heard of the Remington Shortcut (August 08?) through Men's Journal Magazine. They had a small article about cutting your own hair, and the picture of the Shortcut looked pretty cool. I found the article in at my barber's of all places and tore out the page.
I love it! I bought the SCC100 and just cut my own hair for the first time. I love my hair short, and this product is great if you want your hair short and one length. I could have purchased the chrome model ($10 more) but dont see any advantages about it except for looks.
Before my purchase I have been paying about $14-$17 for my buzz cuts, up to twice a month at the barber. With the Remington, I am saving about $400 a year not to mention the time saved from waiting and planning trips to the barber. This deserves 10 stars alone! I can now use the savings for other things....
Do cut your hair outside or in the bath tub; be prepared for small bits of hair all over the place. It may be helpful to get a barber's apron for yourself while cutting.
It took several minutes to cut my hair, and I was skeptical until I showered and washed all of the loose hair from my scalp. I made several passes to make sure I got everything. The number settings correspond closely to the number settings that my (old!) barber uses with his metal blade. I used a 1.5 and was satisfied.
Remington has a video on-line with a demonstration. Its corny but it gives you an idea of how to use the Shortcut.
My haircut was perfect! My wife was even impressed with the job. She tried to cut my hair with an electric hair cutter before but it was only OK. Now I dont have to bother her about it, except maybe ask her to square off the back.
Its so easy to use. I dont have any complaints so far, and still have to use the charger.
Go Remington! Great product! I am recommending the Shortcut to anyone happy with a buzz cut.

Unbelievable how easy and thorough this is. Perfect fit for the hand. You do not need a mirror-works in all directions. Sideburn trimmer doesn't do the job. Who cares-bought it for haircut. My preference is tight cut and this baby works!!!!!!!
I love this clipper!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is an amazing device...it literally take me 3 minutes to do my entire head.....I just had a mole removed from my scalp so I need to keep my hair as short as possible...this clipper is perfect....the ease of use alone is worth the purchase price...
Good, Basic Cut; but Wahl is Better

The Shortcut provides a no frills butch for the guy who wants to get it done quickly and easily. You can get a really close cut (balding blade) or a longer ½" cut. I tried the Shortcut and it did a good job for an even butch cut, but there was no way to taper the ears and neck nape. The edger that is attached to the Shortcut is virtually useless, save for clipping a few stray hairs around the ears. Beware of the extra fine hair that the Shortcut emits; the clipped hair is almost dust-like due to its being cut several times in the blades before it falls on your shoulders or the ground. I normally use a Wahl Color Pro, which is a much better, more specific clipper cut. The Wahl allows more flexibility in tapering and does a fantastic job at a butch or burr cut, but the Wahl takes more time. The Remington is quick, easy, and decent. I would recommend this for thinning/balding guys who just want a quick, all-over, one-length butch that's even. If you want to do any kind of tapering or have the ability to leave longer length on top than the back and sides, skip the Shortcut. Overall, this is a solid clipper that is moderate in noise, sharp and even in cut, and quick in delivering a butch cut.

This clipper is great. Dial in the shortness you want and start cutting your own hair. Take your time cutting (about 12 minutes) to get it all even. No more barbers for me.

Short Cut Clipper
Even my wife can't complain!

I don't have a lot of hair, but what I have can quickly start to stick out in a distinctly unattractive Bozo-esque way if I don't keep it trimmed.
In the past, my wife would trim my hair, apparently one hair at a time, because it would take a long time and often involve either hair pulling (probably not intentional but one never knows), and one time the removal of the top of my right ear.
She would also never cut it short enough, so I'd start looking clownish a week after she'd cut it, and then have to risk my appendages again!
I read about this online and thought I'd give it a try and I'M SO GLAD I DID!
The box says, "You can't mess this up," and I figured if anyone could it would be me--but so far, I haven't.
You basically comb your hair and it cuts it. The adjustable trimmer keeps everything the same length and keeps you from looking like your were in a fight with Sweeney Todd.
One of the reviews here said it wasn't good for getting hair short--but I disagree--my hair was too long and this neatly cut it down to size. I've ever used it on my beard to keep it short and it's much faster than my beard trimmer!
I started out on setting 2, so it was short but not short enough that my wife would complain.
Then, yesterday, before my shower, I set it to 1 and let 'er rip. It trimmed a LOT of hair and in about two minutes my hair was very short--and even.
When my wife saw me she didn't say "What on earth did you do to your hair?!?" which she would have if she could have found any fault at all. Instead, she had me turn around, inspected me and went, "It looks good."
OK, so if a wife cannot complain about it, then you know it's good. Period.
There is ONE thing that isn't as good as it could be--the pop-out trimmer. I tried to use it around my ears and it really didn't do much. I ended up using my beard trimmer for that.
But the rest of it worked so well, so effortlessly (and quietly, it's not like some trimmers that sound like you've put a leaf blower next to your head), that I'm happy! Considering what a haircut costs, or the value of the top of an ear, this is a bargain!
Now I can use it regularly, keep my hair under control and avoid any clownish coiffure!
Best clippers ever for guys who like their hair short.

Holy Cow. I was skeptical about this thing at first. I was just like every other guy who wants a great haircut. First of all I only go to one barber because I don't trust anyone else to cut my hair. Mind you this is the same barber who's been cutting my hair since I was 5. I am 25 now and I thought with gas going up and shelling out $15 bucks every two weeks to get my hair cut I might try this guy to save some money.
Like I said I was skeptical at first but man I'm so glad I tried it. I like the fresh fade look. Some guys might call it a high and tight. I like my hair skin tight on the sides and the back with it getting a little bit longer on the top going from back to front. And when I say skin tight I mean it.
I didn't think this guy would cut that close but I was wrong. This thing cuts as close as you want it. The only thing that would cut closer would be a straight razor or a gillette fusion. There are two different guides you can use, with five different settings for lengths that you use a wheel on the handle to select.
I'm telling you this thing will save you money and time. In the time it would have taken me to drive to my barbershop 7 miles away I was done.
Say goodbye to the barber and hello to the green and the time you'll save with these clippers.
Great tool for keeping short hair short

Bottom line: I love this clipper. Living in hot weather I like keeping my hair shooort. This clipper allows me to do it myself without asking for someone else to cut my hair for me. It does save me the money for something that doesn't take much effort to do. I use it once week. However, I am on my second one, I travel alot and when I plugged the first clipper it into the hotel outlet overseas the travel adapter I was using accidently trip the switch to 230V. Needless to say the voltage burned it out. Therefore, this is the reason why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because it does not come with worldwide voltage electrical cord. Remington uses worldwide voltage electrical cord for some of thier other razors; Why couldn't they have done the same for this clipper?
Works as described

The first time I used it I didn't realize it had the comb for the shortest cut so I got a shorter cut than anticipated. When I put on the adjustable comb it worked great and now I have the convenience of a haircut whenever I want at a very reasonable price. It was easy to use, comfortable and got the job done quickly. I would recommend it.
