Simple but great DVD player 2008-05-31
Very impressed with the quality and simplicity of this Sony DVD player. I have any older Panasonic combo player (DVD/VHS) but was always disappointed in its lack luster video quality, darker images, and the confusing, hard to read remote, etc. This newer player has been a blessing and is now being used for all our DVD viewings. I only wish it also had a headphone jack & tuner to complete the package. Sony DVP-NS700H/S 1080p Upscaling DVD Player Silver

Nice DVD Player. 2008-05-26
This is a nice DVD player and plays a lot of different formats. The picture quality is definitely better than a regular DVD player, but it's not going to look like HD. It's slim with a decent remote control. Set up was easy. You need to buy the HDMI cable separately, and that was $10. Overall for $80, this is a good player. I will eventually get a blu-ray player once the prices are more reasonable.

Great Product. 2008-07-05
If you want something cheap and be closer to HD , this is the product, the image is awesome . This product will really upscale your image from 480I to your native TV resolution. Dont get confuse : this is no high definition .You can only obtain High definition with a HD/Blue ray player and a HD/Blue Ray disc , however it is and excellent option !

So far so good 2008-06-24
It does make a difference as far the visuals go. Soundwise, I'm not sure yet.

This is a great DVD! 2008-06-23
I just got it to use with my recently purchased 26" Sony Bravia HD TV. I bought the silver, because it is stacked above my HD Cable box which is also silver.

I had to be creative and pilfered the isolating feet from an old, non working Laser Disc player. I attached 4 of them to the bottom of the new Sony DVD player using rubber cement tape and duct tape. I did this because, the cable box generates a huge amount of heat and the isolating feet on the DVD player are practicly flat.

This is one slick looking, easy to use and gorgeous DVD player. DVDs that would not play on my old DVD player, play just fine on it.

The picture is stunning and I am thrilled. It works so smoothly with my new Bravia as well. I doubt that I will ever buy a Blu Ray DVD, so I could not be happier with this one.

I only paid $9.95 (with free shipping) for the HDMI cable. I bought the Cables To Go.

Having just paid over $60 for an HDMI Cable by Monster, that I purchased at a Circuit City, I see no difference at all in the reception between both cables. I only bought the Monster Cable because I had returned the composite video cables to my cable company and needed an HDMI immediately. My choices, locally, were very limited.

I totally recommend this player.

Not overly impressed 2008-06-15
There is nothing wrong with this dvd player; it delivers a good picture. However, I did not notice much of a difference in picture quality between this new player and my old standard dvd player that it replaced.

Very good audio and video performance 2008-06-13
This DVD player has very good audio and video performance. The HDMI connection works perfectly. It is a little bit slow when starting loading a DVD but that's OK.
