I just got this lamp and it was easy to set up,very bright,good looking,nice sturdy base,and its make in the USA!
Reading Lamp 2008-04-27
As a Gold Box special, this was a good bargain. Light is bright white, lamp is very plain and is perfect for reading. It would be more convenient if there was one other way to turn lamp on other than switch at top, but if you can find this for about $50 you might try it.

I have been looking for 5 years for a good floor lamp for by my bed that didn't cost a bundle. When this was a Gold Box Deal I had to get it. WOW what a great deal. $54.99 for an ott-lite made in the USA!
It was easy to assemble and works great. It has a very heavy strudy base and doesn't wobble. The hardest thing to do is get the box open. The company glues the box closed I had a very hard time getting into it.
The light doesn't get too hot so having it over your shoulder doesn't heat you up. The quality is high and the light is easy on the eyes. The bulb says it will last 10,000 hours that's a lot of reading. Get this lamp you will not be dissapointed. A++ item.
Another great Ott-Lite 2008-05-31
This is the fourth Ott-Lite product that we have purchased, two for craft work and now two for reading. I called the company to compliment them on their packaging. This is a great reading light, easy to assemble, with a heavy base to avoid tiping! Once you read with an Ott-Lite, you will be spoiled and they are great energy savers!
Excellent work light

I love the quality of light from this lamp. I use it for jewelry making, needlework, reading, and writing, and my aging eyes are grateful. The lamp itself, while no work of art, is heavy, sturdy, and fairly neutral in style--far more attractive than most lamps I could have got for the same price (less than $60). The biggest drawback would be that the replacements bulbs are not as readily available as other bulbs, but it's worth it for the light it produces.

In a word: Great. I'm a writer and I use this as my work light all day, every day. I wish I had bought a second one and if it comes up again at a great price I will. The fit, finish and style are all first rate. Previously, I used a desk top model of Ott-Lite but the floor lamp version has been much more convenient for my setup. It also seems to give some relief to the lack of natural light I feel in less sunny months. Regardless, it's the quality of light that matters and this beats all other types that I've tried for close work. Eye strain--goodbye!
Short floor lamp 2008-05-19
It is all metal which was a pleasant surprise. The colors are pewter and charcoal. The style is more functional vs. aesthetic. The base is heavily weighted so no worry of it being easily knocked over. What I didn't like is the exposed cord and that the lamp extension is relatively short, a little over 4 feet fully extended. I bought it to place behind my computer monitor which is elevated on a stationary desk shelf. Luckily my corner desk is made so I could place a step stool unobtrusively behind the main support to achieve the height desired. The light is bright and reminds me of one of those lights for people with SADS. I think at the $50 price w/ FS it was a great deal. Now if I really get 10,000 hrs. of light from it since the bulbs are expensive, I'll really be pleased!
What type of bulb??

The lamp itself was a good deal as a gold box deal. It was easy to put together and seems sturdy enough; however, when I recieved it the bulb was broken so I ordered a replacement bulb from ott light. That bulb does not fit this lamp there is no where on this lamp which states what kind of bulb replaces it there are many 18 w 4 pin bulbs Pl-c or pl-t and all of the ott light replacement bulbs are in a line which isnt the same pattern that fits this lamp. If it were easy to get a replacement bulb for this lamp it would be a good deal.
