Editorial Review
It comes as no surprise that Jewel, an acclaimed American singer, songwriter, actress, poet, painter, philanthropist and daughter to an Alaskan cowboy singer-songwriter, finds herself in the embrace of country music for the release of her seventh career album, Perfectly Clear.

Nashville Connections

Jewel's personal odyssey, partly chronicled on one of the best selling debut albums of all time, the twelve-time platinum Pieces of You, comes full circle with her forthcoming country album, Perfectly Clear, the debut release on newly launched Nashville-based independent label The Valory Music Co.

Jewel is set apart her whole career for not only singing, but writing all her songs, and this album is no exception. "I've been writing country songs my whole career; some of the songs on this record date back to when I was 18 years old. I've been hanging on to them until now. They were meant for a record like this one."

The record's first single "Stronger Woman" is a powerful and positive message that resonates with women of any age. Perfectly Clear is produced by Jewel and John Rich of Big and Rich fame. "Jewel is probably one of the greatest American singer-songwriters we have. It is such an honor to work with anyone of that caliber of talent," Rich says. Jewel has spent a lot of time in Nashville over the last few years, and has naturally been drawn to and accepted by the Nashville music community. "If I were discovered today, there is no doubt that I would be signed as a country artist. Songs like "You Were Meant For Me" would have been a country hit today, and not a pop hit as it was in the 90s. The genres have changed more than I feel I have," says Jewel.

I love this album... so soothing, so sweet... really takes the edge off my stress

Nice one! 2008-08-23
Nice country album for Jewel! I really liked it. All the songs are nice to listen, and 3 or 4 coul be hits without problem.
Another excellent album from Jewel.

Talent, no question. 2008-08-19
Jewel is talented, no questions. She has a little of everything on this album including a little of her famous yodeling. I have a lot of Jewels CD's and this one is another good one. There are defiantly some songs that I can skip over, like most albums anyone ever buys, but there are others that I could listen to over and over such as Anyone But You. I am happy that she finally did something that she has been wanting to do for years and I hope that her album does well.

What the heck? 2008-08-14
I don't get it. Jewel lost something after CD #3 of hers.

Her voice is more nasaly and little girly and I feel like she's trying too hard. I think maybe she should stick to just songwriting. I'm sure she could make some other artists shine with her words, but not her own voice.

Could be better 2008-08-13

Refreshing................ 2008-08-09
After a ton of albums in which the girl sings about what an abusive jerk her guy is, it's nice to hear a contrast. Oh, he has faults...check the lead cut, "Stronger Woman" [which is really more about her]...and he has some standards to meet..."I Do"...but this is still a record about a girl devoted to a man worth loving. Guys listening to this will say "I wish...."; Kate Nash [and others] will make you say "Thank God...".

Jewel is a very pretty girl, with a quite pleasant voice. I might argue with the "Pop Rock" designation; this is more country, which is not my style. Still, I thoroughly enjoyed it, and bet you will, too.

Jewel - Perfectly Clear - review 2008-08-08
As always, Jewel's voice is amazing! Absolutely loved the album! However, I hope she doesn't go "all country" really like the older stuff better. Yet, let's face it, she could sing the alphabet, and we'd by the album!

Natural Country Star 2008-08-03
Jewel has always had a somewhat folksy style, and she is a natural to sing country. I enjoy listening to the set, and I recommend listening a second time since I liked it even better the second time when I listened closer.

Not too country 2008-08-02
When I heard that Jewel was doing a country CD, I was apprehensive. I was worried it would be too far away from the type of music she does best. I was wrong. This CD will make her fans happy, and attract some new ones too. Great CD. Buy it.
