Clear reception with Clearstream2
2008-10-09
Went from rabbit ears to Clearstream2 on roof. I have over 100 feet of cable and split it twice. All 3 DTV converters show about 90% of max signal strength as compared to 75% to 80% with the rabbit ears. (I tried a shorter cable run of 25 feet and no splits on one TV. The signal strength averaged about 98%).
Light and powerful antenna
2008-10-08
Purchased this antenna from Amazon-arrived standard shipping in 3 days. Removed the old 7-foot combined VHF-UHF antenna from the rooftop where it has resided for 20+years, and in 3 minutes had installed this light 10X20 inch antenna. My digital signals come from 14-25 miles away on direct line-of-sight, and stations are located 100 degrees apart. Pointing towards the weakest signals and taking advantage of the high gain lobe located at 120 degrees from the main direction, I am receiving perfect signals on all major networks and PBS.
I highly recommend this product!
Overhyped, disappointing performance.

This antenna performs way below expectation. Reception is much much worse than a small Philips indoor antenna (amplified). This antenna received only 22 channels while the Philips one receives 44 channels. I am returning this antenna after one day of trying.
Waste of money

I spent $79 for this and getting same channels which I used to get with my old rabbit ear $15 antenna.. I am going to return this..
not good in fringe area
2008-09-25
This did not work in my area. I use rabbit ears now with amplifier. They work fine for analog but not digital. This would not work at all -- either digital or analog. But I am in a fringe area so the distance was probably too far.
It was simple to assemble though the instructions left much to the imagination! I figured it out by looking at the picture on the box.
The ClearStream2 Totally Rocks!
2008-09-01
ClearStream antennas represent a new breakthrough in size and unmatched ultra efficient design and gain. Advanced design software allows these 10x 20 antennas to be smaller and powerful across the entire DTV spectrum offering consistent high gain. Advancements in antenna efficiency allows up to 98% of the available broadcast signal to actually reach the incoming antenna cable rather than being lost to impedance mismatches. The patented ClearStream2 Tapered Loop design receives UHF channels and higher level VHF frequencies with a range of about 50 miles. They are engineered for extra strength and durability, using anodized aluminum for corrosion resistance and are easy to assemble.
Discovered this when a botched order fell through . . .

I had to call the manufacturer to see if a vendor that I bought a DB8 from was real, since they hadn't shipped and it was way past due on delivery. Needless to say Amazon gave me a refund. While I spoke with a great lady in customer service at Antennas Direct I asked what should I use and she told me that they just released the C Series antennas that day. So I looked on Amazon and found a great deal. The vendor that I bought from shipped before I realized that I had purchased. Nice job. The antenna was very easy to assemble except for the clearance for the coax connection on the back of the "bow tie". Once installed I did not get the performance that I was told I would nor expected. It could be that I have a grove of trees to shoot through and I guess I have added issues because I have an in-house distribution system to 12 TV's with 4 internal channels and I think these antennas are basically thought of for one TV. That makes gain very important when matching to a distribution amplifier. So I called Antennas Direct and spoke with the same CSR and in the middle of our conversation the President of the company cut in. We talked tech for a bit and then he said he would send me a C4 (two C2's side by side) to try . . . that is now up and working very well. It looks very superior, is low profile and is doing well with Low & Hi VHF and naturally UHF. It's range is 7 (Hi VHF) up. That is what we need here in Denver since our ABC and NBC affiliates will be allowed by the FCC to go back to 7 and 9 below the channel 14 cutoff after the conversion.
I reinstall the C4 in a different way every week to see where I can get the best reception, since HD is all or nothing. So far I have only tried three variations, but the first of just slapping it up with no precision or proper aiming was the best. So as of this moment, this antenna is covering all, including low band VHF, of our off-air needs, some channels a little grainy, but they will be gone soon. All the channels that we need or will need are coming in clean and clear (some UHF channels better than they ever have) and better when the conversion happens and all stations start broadcasting at full power or complete antenna relocation. The Antennas Direct C (Clearstream) Series is new and good technology. Get a C2 or C4! It'll do the job for you.
Incredibly good antenna

I live in New York City about 14 miles north of stations broadcasting from the Empire State Building. I tried indoor antennas, both the Terk HDTVa Indoor Amplified High-Definition Antenna for Off-Air HDTV Reception and the RCA ANT525 AMPLIFIED ANTENNA, neither of which would pull in stations consistently even when I was constantly moving the antenna to maximize reception. The signal quality was constantly bouncing between 10% and ~80%, so stations were constantly cutting in and out.
I purchased this antenna when it was recommended by the telephone agent at AntennasDirect.com. She recommended it for me over the Antennas Direct DB2 Multi Directional HDTV Antenna because this one was somewhat less directional, and smaller in size.
All I can say is, WOW. I have 100% signal strength on nearly all channels, with a consistent 85% - 100% signal quality. It pulls in 24 HD stations (more than the ones I tried before) without moving the antenna at all, and with no extra amplification. I am using it as an internal antenna -- it's just placed by the window.
This antenna is worth every penny I paid for it, and more. I cannot recommend it highly enough.
good small antenna
2008-08-08
This antenna is fairly small and it works well. Just laying it flat on top of our tv gave a better signal than our old antenna with amp (bunny ears + loop) that we had picked up at the store. Mounted in our garage attic (attenuates the signal about 50%), pointing in the general direction of the towers we get a perfect signal.
Note that while this antenna is designed as a uhf and high vhf (channels 7-13) antenna, and I wouldn't recommend it as a low vhf (channels 2-6) antenna, we actually get a significantly better low vhf signal with it than with rabbit ears.
small and powerful
2008-08-05
This antenna seems very small and flimsy but it sure works great. I live 45+ miles from the transmission sites but get all signals in HD. Haven't tried it on an analog TV yet and probably won't as there is only a couple months left of them but the digital reception is great. One screw assembles it, mount it to a mast of some sort (I used the old satellite mount arm I had) and point it in the general direction of the towers. LOVE IT!
